While Linda & David, and I never met, our phone conversations and email communication made me feel very welcome in their home, and Linda was quick to answer any questions I had via email. This is a rural location, and so quiet, but still close to ski areas and many attractions! Peaceful is a great description, with Nayla & Sasha as easy companions, well-mannered chickens for fresh eggs, and beautiful gardens with a pond! Tall windows provided the feeling of sleeping in a tree house with a very comfy bed! Linda was generous in sharing garden produce and eggs! A short sit worked out great for my schedule, and although short, it was lots of fun, and I would be happy to sit for them again!
We liked a lot of things related to the sit, including the fact that the house is very close to supermarkets, shopping, and restaurants; downtown Torrevieja is just about 10 minutes away by car or about 25 minutes away on foot; the weather is almost always nice; we got to use Richard's car (a huge bonus!); Richard has nice friends who were around to help with anything we needed; Richard was easy to get a hold of; the WiFi worked well; we slept well at night; and the four dogs are really cute! Furthermore, the original sit was scheduled to end on Jan 31 but a few weeks before that Richard asked us if we could extend until Feb 7. Because we were really flexible with travel plans and were enjoying the sit, we agreed to stay on for the extra week. Nevertheless, we felt like we were unprepared for the fact that the dogs are not normally taken for walks, which means they poop and pee all over the patio and even inside the house on occasion, so you really need to accept the fact that you are going to constantly be cleaning up after the dogs (and the patio will often reek if you don't clean it fairly often). The first day or two were fairly shocking in that regard but by about the third day we got used to the situation and were no longer bothered by it. Also, one or more of the dogs destroyed whatever they could get their mouths on, such as seat cushions and sofa cushions, although we tried hard to prevent that. That only happened about four times, though, so it really wasn't a big deal and, in general, all of the dogs were happy and calm most of the time. One more thing to note: Apparently, Daisy got sick (kidney infection?) after we left but we are not sure exactly what happened because when we asked Richard for more information he did not reply. All things considered, we are still giving the sit 5 stars and we hope Richard and the dogs are doing well.
Even before I arrived Eric and Cathy made me so welcome to their lovely home. Although we did not have the chance to meet before their trip they arranged for a friend to collect me from the station and show me around. They made sure I had everything I needed for a successful stay. Roo, Bert and Cora get on well together. They are affectionate, independent indoor outdoor cats and so easy to care for. There is a supermarket in the village and good bus and train links. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Yorkshire. Thank you!
My time with Tully was filled with short walks to the nearby park and lots of time heaping love on this beautiful gentle older German Shepherd while her humans were away. Edinburgh is "Dog Central" which makes it so nice to take a bus or walk into a small shop, or visit any of the lush green parks with your dog. I had a pleasant and lovely stay at Gillian's with Tully.
*Rudy and Val are the best!* We had such an amazing sit with Rudy and Val! Abigael and Keith were so amazing with communication and getting us setup with the cats, the house, and the neighborhood. They were so kind, genuine, and have a lovely SF home next to amazing food, coffee, and entertainment spots! Rudy and Val are such characters with their own individual personalities. They are so loving and happy to get pets and partake in snacktivities! :) Also, they love a good morning perched on the fridge or watching the bird feeder. We loved playing with them and spending time each day as our pet co-workers :) We were so grateful for them to let us stay in their home to watch Rudy and Val and would love to sit for them anytime! Thanks Abby & Keith!
Toby and Melissa welcomed us in a very kind way. We had good conversations and gave lots of details about the region and the best places to visit, we actually followed their suggestions and had a wonderful time in Lalinde and the surroundings. We loved taking care of Ella and Raisin, they are kind, loyal, well educated and laughed a lot while playing with them. They have their own and very different ways to be; Ella, so kind and playful and Raisin, so funny and independent. We had a good connection with them both. The house it’s very comfortable and has everything needed to spend some days out and disconnect about the daily routine. All in all, the experience has been excellent for us.
