Our hosts Birgit and Frank are great people, living on a gorgeous property. We were welcomed and well informed about their animals. Our communication was perfect and we soon became good friends. Their animals were very easy to deal with and it brought a lot of fun. We really enjoyed our stay in their tidy home and the peaceful and quiet surroundings. We are still in contact and we ll meet again soon for a visit or for another housesit.
I had a nice quiet Thanksgiving with Walter, Banjo and Cottage Cheese! All three were very sweet. Walter is the little dog not so needy after all but oh so cuddly just what I needed for my puppy dog fix ! But watch out he likes the cat food more than his own at times so he needs close watching while everybody eats ! Banjo and Cottage cheese are the 2 diabetic black cats. Both are gentle, easy going and won't mind you administering their insulin or pills... They do know their routine ! They sleep a lot. Banjo is more of a picky eater than Cottage Cheese and needs some encouragement. They are not the kind to climb on your lap though. I imagine they don't always feel well and would rather be left alone or in each other's company. The home is very comfortable. Even though I did not get to meet Charlotte we communicated frequently and her friend Amy is very sweet and greeted me when I arrived, gave me the tour of the home and further instructions. She was back when it was time for me to leave. I strongly recommend this sit !
Nice room and sweet dog. Short stay due to owner illness however. She did compensate a litt for early flight home
Matie and Ignacio are the best hosts! They have welcomed us to their house with trust, great communication and kindness. We felt their good energy at the house, had every thing we needed and felt comfortable. Chloe is the sweetest and happiest dog, well-behaved and loving, we had a great time with her! An excellent place to sit. I arrived the day before so that I could meet Daniele, Bill and all the family including the animals. Instructions on how to use the log burner system and look after the pets were clear and straight forward. The animals required minimal care, all could be checked and fed in short time in the morning and evening. The 2 dogs, Tilly and Tarka are very friendly and love cuddles and walks. The cottage is lovely, has great views and not too isolated. It was a straightforward drive about 15-20mins to Hawick and shops/supermarkets. Will definitely arrange further sits to visit more of beautiful Scottish Borders.
I had two wonderful weeks at Ali's and Gordon's comfortable and cozy house. The first two days Meiko, the cat, was still cautiously holding back, but then she had me fully under control :) and we really loved the daily morning cuddles. She is a very independent and uncomplicated cat with whom I really enjoyed spending time. And then there are Audrey, Doris and Marylyn, three wonderful hens who were already looking forward to mealworms or other treats (like cooked noodles or rice) after getting up. It is so easy to take care of chickens and you get a lot of attention from them. Meiko enjoyed watching me feed the chickens, fetch eggs or keep everything in order. Ali and Gordon are wonderful hosts who had explained everything well to me. The house is easy to maintain, my favorite places were the patio and the kitchen. The environment is very quiet, so you can sleep wonderfully! Also because the bed is very comfortable :). San José is a typical ‘dormitory city’ from which you can make many interesting trips in different directions. I drove several times to San Francisco, to different places in Silicon Vallye, but also to the Pacific Ocean or up to Oakland/Berkeley, mostly by bus and train. There are also wonderful hiking areas in the immediate area with fantastic views, American eagles, lots of ground squirrels, etc. Ali and Gordon also provided me with a bike to ride around San Jose. In summary, I highly recommend a stay at Ali’s and Gordon’s house to anyone and hope to do a house sit there again.
