Nancy
Sitting with Holly & Cassie the cats was not work; was truly my pleasure! Cassie & I were friends immediately & after a few days Holly was, too. I thoroughly enjoyed taking care of their chickens.....AND you can't beat fresh eggs! The night before they left they took me out for dinner at a really nice little spot...great food. Nancy & I texted back & forth while they were gone. They had a lovely trip & I had a lovely sit. One evening there was a problem with the oven. She was extremely easy to talk to & didn't mind me asking all sorts of questions. They have a binder full of all the info you will need. That was super helpful. Their home is in the foothills of the white mountains & their neighbors are very friendly. Watching the sunset there was wonderful! I'd go back & sit for Nancy & Jonathan any time!!!

Katy
I opened the wooden gate leading to the homestead and there the magic started. Katie is a warmhearted, welcoming, generous and easygoing host. I had the feeling she was so happy to share this wonderful place with me, and immediately felt relaxed and drawn into the slow pace of life in the Ochran valley.
Katie introduced me to Snowfall and walked me around the land, and David then explained how to care for the chickens.
It took me three days to get the hang of this, as I probably fussed over them a little too much, but all the time I received words of guidance and encouragement from Katie and David! By the end end of my sit I was tuned into this wonderful brood. I am so grateful to have had the chance to learn about chickens, to watch and listen out for them, and experience the rhythm of their day ( starting with the crow of the cockerel ! )
The whole experience was so enriching.
And now for Snowfall. The pictures say it all, he is the dearest, calmest dog you can imagine. He sat in cafes patiently, bounds and leaps across the fields happily, loved sofa time and even seemed to be alert to the chickens and their needs. You will fall in love with this dog if you have the chance to look after him!
If this review is long believe me there is much more to say. I will finish though with a call to any wild swimmers, the pond is heaven. I will never forget early morning swims with dragon flies and Snowfall looking on from the banks (slightly worried).
Oh, and the apples, watercress, fresh eggs and beautiful bouquet of flowers.
Thank you Katie and David. I so hope to return one day.

Wabi is a lovely sweet kat, who also needs a lot of play and attention. I think it is good to know that a lot of time is best to be with her in the house. It is also expected by Sylvie that you stay with her as much you can. Wabi can play with herself as well, but she prefers to have someone around.
I think the village rewards you for staying. They have restaurants, great walks, a river in proximity for hot days, a local pool, local yoga classes, and the sweetest people.
The house is cold inside, and there are big beautiful terraces to relax and hang out with Wabi.

I felt some pressure when I arrived at the house, because initially I didn't feel trusted with the task. This was also Sylvie's first experience on THS. I recommend the sitter to not be afraid to vocalize what they need in order to make it a good sitting experience for them, so that both housesitter and homeowner try to equally help and accommodate each other.

However, Sylvie was sweet and very thorough in giving me all the necessary information. She was very kind to take the time to introduce me to the village and her friends and neighbors. Besides Wabi<3, these people made my whole stay worthwhile.
I absolutely adore the village, Alozaina, which has a mix of both locals and international people. I felt heartily welcomed. So if you don't mind staying one place, this village is a place where you won't need to go anywhere else.

Feel free to reach out if you have questions.

Shannon
I had a great experience pet-sitting for Shannon. The communication with him was perfect, and the location is really nice. Oscar is one the sweetest dog I ever took care of. He's nice, playful, really like human presence and loves going on walk. He knows where he can get a cookie and will take you there if you let him! He's really good company. Thank you for the opportunity, I had a great time!

Paul
Paul left us detailled instructions about how to take care of Mika, Mackie, the fishes and the plants. The house was clean when we arrived and is well located to go to Gatineau park or visit Ottawa.

Mika likes to be cuddle and pet and is really soft. She walks well on leash even though she is reactive to other dogs. She can go in the backyard whenever she wants during the day, so it is an easy dog to guard while working remotely. She sleeps in the living room.

We would absolutly come again to take care of Paul's animals.
