Susan
In the village of Ramsden, just a short drive from Oxford is Susan’s Personal piece of Paradise. We were privileged to housesit for five days in the Summer of 2018 whilst Susan visited family. We arrived a day later than expected due to some transit issues on our part but Susan was kind enough to pick us up from the train station when we arrived in Oxford. We shared a lovely afternoon with Susan chatting over tea and cake (which she had made for us from the apples off her tree). Olly and I both said later how disappointed we were about arriving late and missing the opportunity to share a meal & a few stories ( & laughs) with our easy going & gracious host. ( I hope there will be a next time)

Much like Susan, her home is as warm in its welcome as it is effortless in its elegance. The balance of luxe and liveability is supreme and a credit to the lady of the house! Susan left us to us read of the houses antiquity, it’s past lives & it’s many lodgers. We learned, as Susan had already discovered, those who value & honour a homes unique & rich narrative is gifted a rare & intangible “gold dust” like quality to that is hard to value, hard to describe & and hard to forget!

We still pinch ourselves that we were fortunate enough to experience a brief dalliance within its enduring storyline.

Replayable Moments; mornings spent talking to old horses over a few apples, late afternoons spent wandering the village & admiring the houses (and their unique monikers) & rainy days enjoyed inside with an old movie & a roast for lunch.

Unforgettable Memories: the way time slowed down there, trivial distractions flitted away and we found ourselves feeling like kids again scouting the woods and eating berries straight off the tree.

Pure magic.
