The housesit for Lani and Gabby's gorgeous brownstone home was just wonderful! Ollie, their 11 year old ragdoll, was such an easygoing, almost doglike fellow who loved cuddles and would butt his head against you to receive pets and attention. Ollie was just a perfect kitty and would sidle up right next to me while I worked and be a purring motorboat. Sitting him went smoothly. His feedings were like clockwork. The guest bedroom that my partner and I stayed in was clean and quiet. The house is very neat, homey and beautiful. Location is very close to the train system and you are in walking distance to Prospect Park and very near the Greenwood Cemetery! It is a very quiet, family-oriented neighborhood with cute restaurants, bakeries and cafes within walking distance. I loved my stay and would LOVE to sit for the family and Ollie again!
Caroline and Steve welcomed us warmly to their beautiful home. We stayed 2 weeks surrounded by the wildlife which visited their stunning gardens and pond just outside the windows. Vita the young lurcher was an absolute joy and she accepted us from the beginning. It's a fantastic area for walking and we did a different walk everyday from the doorstep and when we arrived back tired from long walk Vita still had the energy to lap the gardens several times at top speed which always made a smile. We thoroughly recommend this sit and we are looking forward to returning.
Brigitte and Eric were great hosts, they were really nice to have us one day before they left, so we could learn all about the pets and the house duties, which were really easy. Their house is really comfortable in a nice neighbourhood. Nicholas and Leo are great kitties and very lovely. They love cuddles and snooze most of the day, but they also enjoy spending some time with us watching TV. Piccolo is also a very easy bird to look after. We highly recommend this sit 😊
It was truly a pleasure to house sit for Beth. She's an excellent communicator, very thoughtful, and her home and dogs are absolutely lovely. A couple things you'll want to know and be okay with if you do this sit: 1) Ruth takes time to warm up, as Beth had told us (both dogs are rescues). Ruth is quite the escape artist, so I had to do some makeshift escape-route-blocking with whatever materials I could find like Duct Tape and stones from the backyard. There are holes in the fences, and Beth is aware of all the vulnerabilities, but Ruth gets so anxious that she can still sometimes dig her way out, chew through plastic barriers, or knock the stones over, which is truly impressive for such a tiny dog. I managed to notice pretty quickly whenever Ruth had escaped and corral her back in, but it can take some effort - she can be very resistant to come back to the house. By day 3 I'd say Ruth was ready to love us and wanted to sit with me wherever I went. Marty, on the other hand, is pure love and super easy. Wants to be with you, on your lap, 24/7. My partner and I were so sad to leave them both at the end of the sit, but especially Marty. 2) Coyotes: we were paid visits by coyotes who made it into the fenced backyard several times, one occurrence of which saw Marty maybe 6 feet from the coyote, totally fearless, barking at it. I rushed outside and screamed like a lunatic and the coyote took off. You'll want to be comfortable keeping an eye out for them, especially in the early morning. 3) Christmas Tree Hill is gorgeous but not the easiest or most accessible drive. We were happy to do it during our stay, but do be aware that sometimes things come up -- for example, one afternoon as we headed into town to buy groceries, we found ourselves in a queue of cars waiting to get down the hill. Someone came up to tell us that a tree had fallen across the road and that it was unclear how long it would take to be cleared. There is another way down the hill, and luckily we were not under any time constraints. But just know that those kinds of things can happen, although I'm sure they don't happen too often. All in all - we enjoyed our time there tremendously. Beth is courteous and lovely, the dogs are truly wonderful , and Beth's home is beautiful. We were grateful for the opportunity to do this sit and would gladly return.
