Highly recommend The pups are adorable and well behaved in a acceble local village, would gladly pet sit again
This was the first of two engagements sitting for Helen, looking after Moses and Purdee, two delightful family cats with lots of character. Purdee was very affectionate towards us while Moses was 'the man' and wanted to be much more independent. They are used to sleeping on the bed over night and it really wasn't a problem for us (at least we knew where they were). The cats were no problem with eating and completely house trained. If any accidents happened it was likely due to the stress of missing Helen's children. We kept the bird feeders full and this attracted a mix of many different birds. Helen and her family are delightful, very welcoming and have very relaxed rules. We kept in touch with messages and photos while the family was away and informed on anything needing attention. The house location is perfectly located (car needed though) to access local areas and some of the best eating places. We loved going into Wantage for our shopping, where there is such a large selection of inexpensive food stores. The home is new and very clean, and very warm/cozy. The family allow use of all their facilities and in return it was our pleasure to provide additional housekeeping services that were not expected of us. Highly recommended, and would be honored to be selected to sit again if asked.
I sat for Karin twice, please see the 5 star review I wrote for her for the longer one that started Oct 28, 2022.
We house sat for Sue while she was on a staycation in the UK, we got to meet Sue before she left and found her to be welcoming and kind. It was great to run through the responsibilities of the animals before she left but her welcome guide is comprehensive and is a handy tool to refer to if you get stuck! Sue has two lovely dogs, Badger and Foxy, who we adored spending time with. Badger is a ball of energy who loves to be at your side and will love you forever if you take him out for regular walks on the common. Foxy is a very sweet old girl who will join you on a few shorter walks but knows when she has had enough and simply turns herself around and heads home - she is very cute. Both dogs love being brushed and cuddled, Badger enjoys his playtime and both are great with the neighbours dogs so no stress there when it comes to having them off lead. The common is absolutely huge and you step onto it as soon as you leave Sue's garden which is very handy for heading off on long walks each day. Sues horses, Tess and Sammy, are very easy-going, friendly and gentle. Their stable is at the bottom of Sues garden which is super convenient and everything is straightforward when it comes to caring for them. Every now and then they head out onto the common for the day but they are easy to take out and bring back and it is so rewarding to see them cantering, bucking and rearing with excitement once they get their freedom! Badger gets a lot of enjoyment from helping you with the horses, he loves opening and closing the gates but does need a bit of discouragement from biting Sammy's tail, we just found that whenever he went near Sammy's rear end a firm "no" would deter him and he would be happy enough doing other things :) He is a very well behaved dog and really listens to commands and tries very hard, you can tell he is a working dog breed that's for sure! Sue also has a cat called Tansy who a little cutie, she keeps to herself a lot of the time but in the evenings she likes to come and sit with you in the lounge, especially if you have the fire on! Tansy and the dogs get on well and she has a cat flap so is really easy going as she can come and go as she pleases. Sue's home is a stunning country house located on the common, it is very traditional and cosy and everything was very clean and easy to find and use. There are fantastic walks nearby if you want to enjoy the countryside or if you would rather walk to the village and explore, Hawkesbury Upton is only about 20-30 minutes walk and has two pubs, a post office and there is a farm shop a little further, it wouldn't be long in the car but is a nice walk too. If you are looking for bigger shops, etc...there is Chipping Sodbury which is about 20 minutes in the car and has everything that you would need.
Pete and Sara are so friendly, welcoming and relaxed. The house is very comfortable and Cougar although quite elderly is surprisingly spritely, very loving and adores company, including a lot of stroking. She’ll tell you when she wants more attention or food! A lovely little character and a joy to look after. A thoroughly enjoyable house sit and would love do it again.
Pete was a real pleasure to look after! He is very chilled and comes and goes as he likes. When he was home he would be right by our side and loved a good cuddle, especially in the evenings. Sara was very welcoming and was quick to respond over Whatsapp whenever we had any queations. The house and location is also fantastic. Views of the water out the front and mountains out the back. Olympic National Park is also on the doorstep. An all-round great sit, thank you for having us!
