Ultima was a pleasure to have at our house for a week to care for our cat. She was very communicative, sent photos every day, and clearly loved Pinto Bean! She was also self sufficient. We came back to a very happy cat and a tidy house. We highly recommend Ultima.

Cynthia Rowland recently took care of my two tiger boys and my apartment in Salzburg for 6 weeks (better said, she watched over them with an organized mother’s conscientious eye!)

Cynthia and I are quite compatible because we notice and appreciate details – e.g. when communicating and in how we lead our lives. That means that unlike some people, she greatly appreciated all the information packed into my 27-page, A–Z “user’s manual” about my Boyz and the apartment/city.
;-)

Cynthia arrived with her own list of detailed questions about the cats and the sitting situation, to ensure that her stay and my vacation went as smoothly as possible. She wanted to know things like whether I wanted written updates and how often she should send them? ( Thanks! I did – 2-3x a week.) Should she contact certain people about her presence in my place and keep them updated as well? ( I hadn’t thought of that, but good idea! )

We agreed on a whole list of actions and Cynthia not only performed as agreed, her conscientiousness & communications went above and beyond my requirements.

Here are some >>quotes<< from typical messages we exchanged (FYI – my cats are rescues recovering from a prior bad home and so they have some serious trust issues):

>> “boys say hi! and XOXOXO back! i'm enjoying them so much!!! attached are pics of their sweet faces for you!” <<

And the attached photos showed my clearly relaxed kitties as they lounged about. ☺

>> “hey beth... everything's great here! brodie is a hug-monster and duncan stays his sweet self except when he's giving brodie shit which brodie returns. :) no real fights...just the little pissy fits you said was the norm. we all say hi and send love!” <<

>>“SO happy to have been a help with the boys...you're right about brodie almost being a normal sweet kitty...i was pleasantly shocked at the transformation he made at the 2-week mark and that his affection increased even further over the weeks. glad if i was somehow helpful with duncan as well! it was truly my honor and pleasure to be part of making their lives better.” <<

(I have to add here, that the older, extreeeemely mistrustful and aggressive tom Brodie has made enormous strides in the 3 years he’s lived with me, and every interaction with cat-loving strangers helps him further re-think and modify his attitudes and behaviors. He made another BIG leap toward “normality” while Cynthia was here, watching over him so carefully and kindly. Brodie is such a smart kitty & he now loves love and loving Even More!)

>> beth, thank you for giving such a great home to these boys. brodie has become so loving and trusting that it breaks my heart thinking about his horrors growing up that i don't want to even want to know the details of. duncan continues to be a sweetheart too. <<

>>“Dear Beth,

Welcome home!!!!!!!!
You are welcome! – you said thanks in your email for making your time in the States so worry-free…that is my one of my main goals so thanks for that! It makes me happy!

I know you wanted me to feel free to “raid the pantry” and have your wine, etc. and didn’t want me to replace groceries I consumed but that just doesn’t feel right to me so please don’t take my reluctance as a rejection of your generosity but rather a deserved respect for your hearth and home. I had replaced some food prior to learning of your dieting plan, plus left you a bit of cash “for the house.”

I’ve always felt those were unspoken rules for housesitters, and house guests for that matter….

THANK YOU for all you did so that I felt so very welcomed to Salzburg and your home!!! I got you and the boys a new fan as a small thank-you gift. The old one not only is “evil”-sounding to Brodie and Duncan it also was a bit hit-or-miss on working at all...” <<

Isn’t Cynthia the kind of pet sitter we all want? ( Yes! )
I hope she’s going to be available for my next long trip!

Until then, I wish Cynthia all the best for her future endeavors and house sits.
Because she’s equipped to handle them all!

Sincerely yours,
Beth Jones, Salzburg
