I loved this pet sit. Brenda & Jim are very welcoming and they gave very comprehensive info about their home and pet. Murphy is super cute and sweet - looks like a little teddy bear. I really enjoyed spending time with Murphy in their gorgeous home. I’d love to do another sit for them and I definitely recommend it . Thanks for the opportunity! Shelley
Excellent hosts again second time around.
It was a pleasure meeting Alex and relating to her with life in France 😃 Alex was great with having a phone call with me before the sit and was even kind enough to pick me up at the train station! She showed me around the house and left me feeling prepared for the sit, while also calling most days to check in on everything. Alfie is a sweet dog who loves to play fetch, tug-of-war, and loves getting petted of course 🥰 It was nice being at home with Alfie! He can bark a bit at cars and things passing by but is great overall 🙂 This was a challenging sit in my opinion when it came to walking Alfie. He is quite a reactive dog who will try to run after most animals he sees and we even had situations of him jumping out at cars passing by. It can be difficult to hold him back as he will use a lot of strength to go under fences to get to an animal or again, wants to go after a car. I was also told it was okay to walk Alfie near horses and cows but this brought us into dangerous situations which resulted in Alfie and I going on shorter walks right by the house instead. I would say someone must be very strong to hold back Alfie and should do their best to not walk on sidewalks near streets or go near any bigger animals, though it is country side and even the small roads have cars passing by. I heard from others in town that Alfie does have a history of jumping in front of their cars and they have seen how it can be a struggle to control Alfie on walks. For these reasons, I was disappointed in not feeling as if I was given honest anwers on how walks with Alfie can be. The house was also very dusty when I arrived and I was asked to clean it, although I feel the house should have been dusted before my arrival. The electricity did go out for half a day, interrupting my work, and I had been told by Alex it doesn't go out often though she did mention it went out just the week before, but was a rare case. This is of course nothing within anyone's control and simply bad luck! I am sad this sit didn't go as smoothly as others, but I am happy to have met Alex and Alfie regardless and loved how sweet Alfie is at home!
I had a great time at Oliver's house. He and his family are super nice and welcoming. The communication was great from the start and during the sit. The house was as described, clean, and had everything I needed. The three cats are super easy to handle, all of them are outside most of the time. Bubu and Muter are older and sleep a lot, but also like being petted. Pipa is younger and still playful and therefore appreciates some play time. I can recommend this sit without reservation.
I'm not sure who looked after whom during this house sit - I felt like I was at a retreat!. Guv'nor and M'Lady are the sweetest cats, two British short hairs who live a very Zen life and brought peace and calm to my stay. They're very snuggly, which is what I needed. We spent a long time watching YouTube videos with the cats jostling for the best place on my lap! Homeowners Rob and Margaret were extremely organized for me. A full binder with all instructions printed out including photos to tell the remarkably twin-like cats apart! We had a walk-through before I came to look after the property. The house is beautiful but not intimidating to maintain. (It is on three floors so if someone's not a stair person that may not be suitable but I find it good exercise.) The security alarm system was appreciated, and Rob had set it up so that it was my own number code - which meant that I was more easily able to remember it. The kitchen is very well appointed and beautifully laid out. The bedroom is a lovely loft and the hardwood floors mean it's easy to swiffer up cat hairs everyday lol. For someone looking for a good vacation spot, their townhouse is half block to the Pacific ocean's Strait of Juan de Fuca - which means amazing views across to the Olympic mountains in the United States, and the cruise ships a few blocks away! Easy two-block walk to local amenities, including a grocery store, two pubs, restaurant, thrift store and a Starbucks. And in just a couple more blocks you are in downtown Victoria and major sightseeing. Rob and Margaret were available while they were away by text if I had any questions, which was very appreciated although not overly necessary. The house was very well laid out and the tour before they left was very clear. I can highly recommend this lovely accommodation and divine little cats for anyone looking for a stay in beautiful Victoria British Columbia!
Patti and her family have such a lovely spacious home in the perfect Kits location and staying there with Maui was a treat! He’s the most curious and funny cat, it was always pleasure having him around. Thanks so much for a great stay Patti!
