My pup was attacked by another dog at Central Bark. I have been taking her off and on to daycare here for over 2 years and never had a problem. She also goes to Bark Social, Barkhaus, and other dog parks with no issues ever. It’s still not clear how this happened or what the handlers did to intervene. When I got the call, I drove immediately to pick her up. Janet (co-owner) was more concerned with covering their liability. It’s a traumatic experience hearing your dog is seriously injured but all she kept saying was “as you know from the paperwork you signed” and “these things happen which we said in the paperwork you signed.” There was no sympathy at all. In fact, it’s been almost a week and NOT ONE team member has reached out to see how my baby is doing. Janet also tried to downplay the seriousness as “just one puncture wound.” I had to take her to the ER where it turns out she had more than one puncture wound and lots of scratches. How long did it go on before staff intervened? Why won’t they share video footage? What was the staff-to-dog ratio? Were there warning signs the handlers missed? Dogs don’t just snap without any warning signs. If you’re considering taking your dog here consider a few things: LACK OF TRANSPARENCY: Most daycares in the area have live feeds or pre-recorded videos they share with pet parents. Some even send you daily pictures or written reports. Central Bark posts intermittently on their social media pages but I rarely saw my pup featured and couldn’t tell if she was enjoying herself. I would ask staff how she did at pickup and frequently they would say they weren’t in her play group and had no information. I also don’t know how crowded the spaces are. I’ve been to daycares where they turn you down if they have reached max capacity for that day. We were never turned down. Without cameras or photos, it’s hard to say if they are taking in more dogs than they can handle. PRICE: They are very expensive and require at least one daycare day a week. If you stop bringing your pup for a month then they require a $40 behavior assessment on top of the $42 daily daycare rate.

My dog has been going to Central Bark for over a year and I can’t say enough good things. She was quite nervous her first day, having had a negative experience at a different boarding facility. The owner of Central Bark took a lot of time to answer my questions and went above and beyond to make sure my dog was safe and comfortable at daycare. She also worked with me and identified the slower daycare days which allowed my dog to continue adjusting to the environment without getting overwhelmed. The entire staff quickly won over my dog with their kindness and patience. My dog now jumps up and down at the mention of “daycare” and sprints through the door when we arrive at Central Bark. She regularly attends daycare and has boarded several times. She always runs out of Central Bark the way she runs in - happy and healthy. If you’re looking for daycare or boarding, put Central Bark at the top of your list.

Central Bark Landover has been a life saver for our family. They are incredibly friendly, responsible, and take such good care of our Nala. Our baby is a little anxious when separating from us, especially from my husband, but the staff at CBL know exactly what to do to help her transition smoothly during drop-off. You can tell Nala loves and trusts the staff because she wags her tail and willingly goes back with them - that's a huge accomplishment. Online booking is a breeze for both daycare and boarding, which we've used when traveling. Having grooming services on site are a big plus - they make sure Nala looks nice and fluffy when we pick her up! We feel so lucky to have this neighborhood gem!

The groomer is the best, my dog has anxiety but she’s comfortable with her groomer! The business smells clean and the front desk has improved!!

Excellent! My dog Dallas was picture perfect. He was relaxed and happy not traumatized when I picked him up. The family was clean. The staff was very professional and appeared to love their jobs.

This is the 2nd time that I have boarded my tiny yorkie with them. The first time, they were very responsive and sent me pictures of Scandal playing outside with other dogs. We were allowed to bring things from home and sent reports. This time, when we picked up our pup, she was dehydrated and did not really seem like herself. Not sure if we will be back.

My dog loves going here. He gets so excited to get inside and play with his furry friends. He comes home and sleeps after a day of Enrichment Daycare. They offer shampoo service and grooming. I feel it's a safe and fun place to drop my dog off during my working days.

My fur baby has been going to Central Bark for almost a year now. I have been so pleased with the enrichment program they have there. My dog has been very happy there and that makes me very happy! I trust the owners and staff to continue providing the great care they give him - whether it's during his weekly enrichment, his sleepovers or from his awesome groomer! (He loves her!!!!❤️.) The facility is well kept and the owners are great! It's so comforting to know that he's in a safe, caring and enriching environment.

I would of loved to give this place 5 stars but I am very disappointed in the fact that my dog was suppose to start his Behavior Assessment day and the owners didn't even give him a chance to walk inside the daycare. To their words he was being aggressive because he barked at another dog. I was not their personally (My mom did me the favor to take my dog) and have been trying to get in contact with the owners to get down to point on what happened but no one has reached out after leaving multiple messages with the staff. I would understand if they took my dog inside and by the end of the day they would of said he is not a good fit because of A, B and C reasons but they didn't even let him walk inside. I have taken my dog to Bark Social so many times and have never had anyone told me he is aggressive. I was so excited to have a daycare just a few minutes away from my house and I was happy with what they offered. I even did a tour with Marcos (He was so helpful through out the whole tour).

My fur baby gets excited when he see us approaching Central Bark! The workers are professional and courteous to me and loving to him. It’s in a great location and I’m glad it has outdoor and indoor spaces!

What a wild ride! Imagine the nerve-wracking tale of leaving behind Koddie, the aging, deaf, and sight-weary dog with a kidney clock ticking, plus Kitty, the separation-anxiety-stricken German Shepherd service superstar. And of course, Kitty's got allergies, while Koddie's excuse is just being old - classic Koddie! 😂 Switching from a pet place horror story, the scene shifts to a whole new world. A chipper young chap welcomes the gang with a grin that could light up a room. The furry duo, Kitty and Koddie, leap out of the car, and Kitty's already best pals with Mr. Sunshine. It was like a red carpet moment! Mr. Sunshine gives the green light for the fur babies to stay while Kitty plays tag with him in the play yard. Who knew pet care could be this fun? Fast forward to pick-up time: Kitty and Koddie refuse to budge - even preventing bathroom breaks for the humans! What a hit! The pets were giving Lulu & Pals a standing ovation after just one day. Now, it's a daily ritual of excitement for Koddie, eagerly waiting to head to "school," while Kitty's busy being a prankster. It's a full-blown furry fiesta! Discovering this pet paradise was like finding a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. If only this was the starting line instead of the last resort! Getting them in the door is a breeze, but prying them away? Good luck! It's a tail-wagging, paw-swinging success story, and I'm head-over-heels in love with this place.

Highly recommend this experienced, affordable dog day care! We’ve left our dog here many times and he’s so excited to see Chang-Wu every time. We get lots of pictures and videos too which is great.

Second time using this service and it went well. My dog seemed happy and healthy upon return and Chang returned all unused food and pet supplies. Easy pickup and drop off. I’ll be using this service all summer

We have an indoor/outdoor cat and a couple times a year we go on a weekend trip. C-PUP has always provided great service for our critter and has always been there, even on short notice. They feed our cat, top off or change the water, clean the litter, give some pets and playtime, email us a picture of our cat, and bring our mail and packages inside once a day. They've taken care of our cat when we decided to leave her in the house or outside. They have also kept our garden alive during summer trips by watering for a little extra charge. I would highly recommend C-PUP! We have used their services a couple times a year for the past 5 years or so.

We've been working with C-PUP for dog walking and dog sitting for over a year now. If you are looking for a walker or in-home sitting service, I'll assume that your fur family members are incredibly important to you and you want to make sure they are getting the best care possible. C-PUP provides just that. They are incredibly professional, well-organize, thorough and meticulous when it comes to understanding what your pet needs for care. We have three dogs of various ages, including a senior dog that requires extra-special care and C-PUP is incredibly attentive to all of their different needs. They are wonderfully communicative as well, especially during over-night pet-sitting. Your fur family will be in wonderful hands with C-PUP.

Over the years, all of our cats have been well taken care of by C-Pup. They are a pleasure to work with, trustworthy, and they always keep us posted (text msg and e-mail) on how things are going with our fur babies. Also, for us what is very important is that they are a local neighborhood business. Being local means being able to provide their services quickly.

Shannon (owner) is very professional, thorough in interviewing dog(s) owner(s), getting detailed information on what the needs and desires are of owners and pets!!! She is incredibly organized and meticulous in ensuring that pets and owners may leave each other with an easy mind. All of her staff have been generous, patient, lovely people who treat us (humans and pets) with great care! A detailed report card is left at each visit outlining the activities our dogs performed, their affect, and notes on the overall visit. We have traveled and used C-PUP for home stays and also as a dog walking service. Our dogs have become so familiar with C-PUP staff that it's as if another family member is with them. Wonderful, wonderful people and service. I can't say enough good things about Shannon and C-PUP! I recommend them to anyone and everyone expressing an interest in pet services. C-Pup is fantastic! We had someone stay overnight with our pets while we were gone and she did a great job. Typically when I go away I worry about our pets, but with C-Pup we got frequent updates and I knew they were in good hands. When we arrived home our cats and dogs were well-adjusted and excited to see us. I can't imagine going on vacation and having anyone else stay with our pets. I highly recommend C-Pup.

The team at C-PUP has been taking care of my Golden Retriever, Breeze since we brought her home 4 years ago. While my husband and I worked in full-time jobs during the day, we had multiple scheduled walks for her energy level. During that time, Breeze was so well cared for and loved, just as we would have done if we were there. As I transitioned to full-time work from home, I now call on C-PUP for our overnight sitting needs. When we go out of town, whoever stays with Breeze loves her just as much as we do. They provide detailed notes, pictures/updates and take care of any worries we have while we're away. I would recommend any of their services if you wish for your pet to receive the highest quality of care when you can't do it yourself!

We've been using C-PUP to look after our cats for several years, and we've always had an outstanding experience. We get email updates once or twice while we're away. We arrive home to find a written daily log of feeding, meds, visits, etc. I can recommend them without hesitation.

Lastly, the app used by Peticular Charm is very convenient--you can see when your dog was walked, what route they took, and what your dog, ahem, *did* on his walk. I’m thrilled with the dog walking services of PETicular Charm! The owner, Chris, came by to meet our little guys, took notes on behavior and routine. Very good rates! An added plus is that Chris and his crew can board a dog at the last minute in case we have an emergency. I trust Chris and his employees explicitly with our dogs and our house! The team at Peticular Charm has been great! We use them for daily walks, doggy daycare once a week, and they also watched our 8 month old puppy when we were out of town for a week. They sent daily pictures and videos so that we knew our puppy was having a good time. Honestly, I think our puppy would rather live with his friends from Peticular Charm than us!

The first meet and greet, Kate and her colleague came to meet our puppy and go over in detail what was expected during her dog walks, training, habits etc. She also shadow her colleague on the first few days to make sure it was a smooth transition for our girl. Kate's Pet Care is without a doubt the best I have had in the area. She is so kind and my cat and dog love her. I have a dog, cat, and a fish tank, and she has taken care of all of them.

Kate and her crew are absolutely wonderful. Very reliable and accommodating; they do their research and are more than willing to give individualized special care for each pet. Travis was excellent taking care of my minipig while I was away, following instructions down to a tee and making sure she got everything she needed. I didn't have to worry one bit. The report cards are great so you know how your pet is doing during each visit.

Fuzzy Critters has been a life saver! Our dog Maple absolutely loves going there. She starts whimpering when she realizes we are getting close and then bounds out of the car to run into Jessica's yard, leaving me in the dust. I started taking my dog, Missy, here during the pandemic and she LOVES it. Whenever we get close to the house, Missy starts jumping and getting super excited and almost busts out of the car door! I love leaving her with Jess because they treat Missy like one of their own furry family members with cuddles and playtime - and that means a lot to me.

Danny walked our senior girl for her last year and he was very sweet with her. He's clearly very comfortable managing all sorts of dogs and combinations of dogs. It made me happy thinking her having a little social life with neighborhood doggies during the week. Danny was also extremely flexible and accommodating with my frequently changing schedule. My husband and I recently moved to the Navy Yard area with our 2 cats. We travel frequently, and finding someone new to care for them was a huge stress for us. We selected Saving Grace because of their reviews, and we have not been disappointed. We have used them on three separate occasions, and all three times, Paul Weiss was the caregiver. He leaves daily notes and will send photos if requested. Our most recent trip was two weeks long, and he watered our plants and freshened the litter box. I've used Saving Grace Petcare for almost a year now to care for my cat while I'm out of town. They truly are a saving grace! I don't know what I would do without a neighborhood petsitting group like this one. Very easy to drop off my keys before leaving town and they take care of everything. Very attentive staff as well -- I always receive cute photos and updates on how my cat is doing. They really pay attention to the notes in my account on how to feed/care for my lil guy, and I never come home to a messy litter box. Thank you, Saving Grace Petcare!

We have had wonderful experiences with Saving Grace dogwalking and boarding services. Our dogwalker, Selena, is the best! She is very reliable and leaves us notes each day to let us know how the walk was. She was especially wonderful in working with us on special requests when our senior dog was quite ill. We now have a young dog and she is very patient as he learns his puppy manners! Saving Grace has also been a great service for pet-sitting, even over longer holiday trips! Our pets have always been very well-cared for with SG services! Highly recommend if you have pets in the Capitol Hill area!

I've used Saving Grace for cat sitting for at least the last three years. It's almost always the same woman who comes and visits, and my normally shy tuxedo has developed quite a fondness for her. Great service, can't recommend enough.

Tisha and her team are simply the best if you live in this neighborhood. I have worked with a few of the different petsitters in the past 18 months and have always been impressed--each one is a devoted animal lover, and treated my (loud, nosy, and often difficult) cat as their own. I cannot say enough good things about Saving Grace!

Really easy, web-based services that are perfect for helping busy people arrange pet care. I got daily updates with photos letting me know how my pet was doing while I traveled, and the pet sitter, Nancy, did an awesome job making the effort to connect with my pet and keep me in the loop. Highly recommended!

I am providing this rating because of Buster's dog walker - Aaron. He is the best! He takes extra time with Buster, he carries him down the block to ensure that he gets a walk rather than taking him out and bringing him right back in. We are fortunate to have Aaron as Buster's walker!

I've been using saving grace for two years now and have never had an issue. The staff are friendly and always leave a helpful note with a summary of the walk. I would recommend them to anyone.

DO NOT GIVE THIS PLACE YOUR MONEY. The owner Grace is some gross right winger living in the 1950s. She didn't respect my pronouns and mocked instead, saying she "doesn't care".

I wanted to take a minute to give Dogma the recognition they deserve. My puppy has been a regular here since I started a new job in office. I was so nervous to leave him at daycare, worried he’d be scared or stressed. Now, when we drop him off, all the attendants recognize him! He doesn’t even look back at me — he sprints into the play yards for a day of fun with his dog and human friends. I have full trust in the folks working here to take the best care of my dog. He knows it’s a dogma day when we’re around the corner and squeaks with happiness and excitement until he’s dropped off and out of the car. I can tell by his body language how much he loves it here!! Staff is very mindful of making sure the dogs are cool on hot days, the dogs get AC breaks and water and kiddie pools outside. I love that they have the outside yard, too. I’ve never liked the idea of daycares where dogs have to do their business on the floor inside. Dogma is very mindful of making sure dogs have all vaccinations as new members, and provided a full readout of his first day. The best part is that puppy is so tired after a day full of Dogma fun that I get also to relax after work :) Worth every penny. Never going anywhere else!

We love Dogma! Niko (my 6 year old pup) has been attending Dogma since he was 6 months old. Some of the staff have been there for as long as we’ve been attending. They greet my dog by name, have strict cleaning policies, are reasonably priced for the quality of service they provide, and have really fun social events and contests for the humans and dogs. My dog loves going here. He jumps out of the car as soon as we arrive. We no longer live in Navy Yard. In fact, we live 40 minutes away in Upper NW, but I still make the drive to Dogma because I trust them so much. 5/5 stars. Just go already!

My pup Jack has been coming to Dog-Ma for the last 6 years. He knows his schedule and alerts me when it’s time to go 😂. Each time we enter, Jack leads me to the gate where he is warmly greeted by AMAZING and DEDICATED members of the Dog-Ma team. Jack has the most fun and comes home exhausted. I never worry or stress because I know he is in good hands! I don’t know what I would do without Dog-Ma! Thank you for all you do for my boy!

Dogma is wonderful! Our 2 GSPs (Piper and Dakota) always come home tired and happy, they never smell bad, and are always excited to go in when we pull up at the gate. Dogma posts photos of the dogs online so we can check in and ensure the girls are having fun. We would recommend this daycare to our friends for sure!

My vizsla, Houdini, LOVES Dog-Ma. He's always thrilled to go and is definitely more exhausted than when he goes to other daycares that are indoors. I also love that they have grooming services when needed and have an online scheduling platform. My two wishes...Dog-Ma closes at 7pm on week nights (I wish they were open until 8pm) and I also wish they had discounted packages.

Dog-ma is great! I know our dog is in safe hands when she stays at Dogma. I hate leaving our pup behind when we travel, but it’s nice to feel at ease when she’s with folks who care about her. Much of the staff has worked at dogma for a while - which is incredible for this field. Run, don’t walk your dog to Dogma!

Dogma has been our dog Coco's home away from home. She is so excited to spend her day(s) at Dogma. Service goes above and beyond, including emailing me when Coco had a possible ear infection and helping to administer medication while we were out of town. We were so blessed to find such a great caregiver!

We love Dog-Ma! They took excellent care of our Cavalier King Charles all the way to his senior years and we always trusted them. Our Cavalier passed away a few years ago and we recently brought home a new dog (Terrier mix/rescue) - we knew right away we would be taking our new guy to Dog-Ma for daycare and boarding because of our previous great experiences and they did not disappoint. We have sent our new guy for both daycare and boarding. They have been great with communicating with us about his needs. We trust them implicitly with our little guy and he loves it there too! Just like our previous dog (who they still remember!), he runs right in with no hesitation and is excited to play. As a plus, Mr. High Energy is ready for a nap when he gets home!

I can't say enough great things about Dog-Ma. I've been taking my 2 year old dog there since he was 6 months old. He LOVES it. The workers there are exceptional and take the time to get to know every pup there. Highly recommend Dog-Ma!!

An emphatic five stars for Dog-Ma from our dog Blue and her humans. We've been taking Blue to Dog-Ma two days a week for about a year now and she absolutely loves it. We live walking distance away and every time we walk in the direction of Dog-Ma, she goes into turbo mode pulling on the leash because she's so excited to see all of her friends. There are two things that set Dog-Ma apart from other daycares in the area: the care and expertise of the staff and the facility, which has a large outdoor area you can't find anywhere else in the city. Our pup loves being outside more than anything, so that sealed the deal for us when deciding which daycare to take her to and we are 100% satisfied with that decision. The staff at Dog-Ma are rockstars; they are so kind, caring, and attentive to every dog in their care. They take the responsibility of caring for the animals very seriously and it shows in their interactions with the dogs and their owners. Blue is always very tired and very happy after a day at Dog-Ma and having a place we can take her during the day where she is in the care of people we trust and we know she is happy is worth every penny. We love being part of the pack. If you are looking for a daycare or boarding facility for your pup, look no further. Dog-Ma is the best.
