I may sound like a broken record when it comes to writing a review for Heidi and her partner JP - their previous reviews are excellent and I am in complete agreement! I have never had such exceptional people looking after our pet and home, though all our sitters have been wonderful. I feel so very fortunate to have met them and corresponded with them throughout our five-week absence.

Ours is a unique situation up in the mountains of SW Colorado with unusual aspects to our owner-built home - wood for the major heat source, a well-dependent cistern water system, plants with strange watering systems, a semi-remote lifestyle, a cat with some strange behavioral issues at times (not to mention monitoring his outside activities and the "gifts" he brings in). Added to these characteristics was a major problem with our septic system while we were away that required them to vacate for a couple nights. They handled it all with grace and kindness, patience and understanding and wanted to adjust and help in whatever way possible.

I was also surprised and delighted by Heidi's daily communication emails with updates and photos. She is quite the photographer, capturing our cat in amazing positions and moods that only someone who has really come to know him could do. I received several photos a day and looked forward to those emails from Heidi. They both seemed to have learned his ways and he lacked nothing. They gave him affection, attention and care and I'm quite sure he misses them both.

If you are fortunate enough to have Heidi (and maybe JP) come sit for you, consider yourself blessed. They bring the gifts of calm and peace and a true joy of being, along with steadfastness and capability. Their commitment to you is true and unwavering. Thank you, thank you Heidi and JP!

Drake is a lovely dog. He’s very affectionate, very gentle and he has a lovely temperament. He’s quite strong and muscular and when we first left the house to go for a walk he would pull on his lead out of sheer excitement. This only lasted for a few hundred yards then he settled down. Initially I kept him on a short lead to be able to control him and once he’d settled down, walking with him was fine. He’s not bothered by people and he likes to greet other dogs. He never barked at people or their dogs.

He’s obsessed with his ball. I was a bit nervous about letting him off his lead at first but Julie had assured me that he wouldn’t run off if I had his ball. She was right. He loves chasing after it and will bring it back.

Richard is a typical cat. He’ll come when he wants a fuss and when he’s had enough, he’ll give you a swipe with his paw or mouth your hand (he didn’t bite or scratch). He can be very affectionate when it suits him. He is definitely boss of the house and Drake is afraid of him so he keeps his distance.
They were both very quiet at night and seemed to quickly accept having a stranger looking after them.

Julie sent me a very comprehensive welcome guide which answered all of my questions.
I really enjoyed looking after Drake and Richard and would be very happy to look after them again in the future.
