Loretta's home is beautiful!! It is just a quick walk away from the beach and a walking/biking trail, and is centrally located near several restaurants. The home is very clean and spacious, and you are able to sit outside on the patio and enjoy the ocean. Loretta was quick to respond to any questions we had, and she helped make sure the whole process went smoothly. Meridian is so smart, very well trained and was absolutely perfect on walks. She is happy to cuddle and play with her toys, and she was sweet as can be. Enca is also a cuddler, and will happily sit on your lap while you watch TV, and she has several toys that she will play with if you take the time with her. We would definitely recommend this sit and would happily return ourselves.

This was our first time sitting for Mandy and Keith in their lovely home. They are the kindest hosts who left clear instructions for the sit, and had plenty of recommendations for nearby cafes, restaurants and walks. They were always a quick message away if any additional questions needed answering. The sit was an absolute pleasure and we’d love to stay again!

Mandy and Keith’s home is spacious and comfortable with a secure garden surrounding it, which Bella and Tilly can roam freely in. There was plenty of office space for us to work online and a large kitchen to cook meals in the evenings. The back windows had beautiful views and the area was full of walks, pubs and small villages. We felt totally safe and at home here.

As for the girls, Bella and Tilly are the absolute sweetest and never gave us any trouble. Being rescues, they were initially a bit nervous of us and wanted space, but soon warmed to us after several treats and mealtimes. They don’t like to be left alone, so having two of us around really helped for times when one of us was busy or had to pop out for something. The girls loved chilling on the sofa with us in the evenings and napped quietly near us while we worked online during the day. Travelling to nearby walking spots was no bother as the girls would hop into the car with no hesitation (we didn’t drive farther than 5 minutes away, but they were always extremely relaxed passengers). They also happily chilled in cafes with us while we got a quick drink or bite to eat. We grew so fond of them and their unique personalities - they’re a delight!

We can’t recommend this sit enough - thank you so much Mandy and Keith!

Well, what can I say, we had a fantastic few days here, thank you so much for inviting us to look after Ninky.
She is an absolute to pleasure to be with & has stayed in our hearts & minds ever since.
Her most impressive trick was tilting her head, gazing into our eyes & then rolling over ready for us to give her a belly rub!

Re: chickens, aren't they brilliant - well, except for the toe pecking 🤣
The daily fresh eggs were a fun find & made for tasty treats.

We did need the neighbour Beryl's help with an issue & she was wonderful to us.

We really enjoyed exploring the area & would return in a heart beat.

Let me start this review by mentioning that during my housesit, Lara and Tom were in the special situation of having taken in two abandoned rescue dogs in addition to their family dog Benny and their two cats. One of them had just had surgery, and the other one is in the teenage puppy phase where he only has non-sense on his mind. It’s very likely that by the next housesit some of those factors will have changed. :)

Lara and Tom were extremely welcoming and easy to talk to, and after my initial call with Lara I felt very comfortable about doing the sit. They were always available for question or tips on how to deal with their furry bunch during my whole stay.

I really enjoyed the sit and my time with the pups, but with the situation mentioned above, it was basically a full-time job. It’s not only the long walks, but more the logistic challenges of keeping two of the dogs in the garage and garden, and the other one and the two cats in the house, because the rescue dogs would chase the cats otherwise. The dogs are able to open the doors, are ALL crazy attention seekers and SNATCHERS of anything you leave lying around, so there was a lot of locking and unlocking doors, misplacing stuff, and chasing after them if they got their paws on anything! :)

I had help some days of the sit, some days I didn’t. I really recommend the sit for two people, for the logistics as mentioned above, but also just for the amount of walking involved. Benny and Zini get a 1-2 hours hike in the morning (calculate 3 hours with getting ready, driving, showering them after), and an evening walk through the neighborhood. At the moment it is not possible to hold them both because of their size, a certain amount of pulling and nervousness around other dogs, so if you are by yourself, this means taking them separately, which easily adds up to 2-4 hours walking daily. If you are an active person it should be fine, but bear that in mind if you want to do some exploring for yourself in between. (My phone showed an average of 13k daily :)

About the dogs: Benny is a real big baby! He is very affectionate, but also likes things to go his way. Walking him off leash in the mountains was super fun, walking him in the neighborhood can be a bit more challenging. He definitely wants to be the boss of where to go, and will follow his trails nose down, and not really care what you are doing. If he doens’t want to go your way, he will sit down and refuse cooperation. So it takes a bit of patience (or resignation! ) to handle him there. Also, you have to be prepared for him to steal any of your things that aren’t nailed down! During my sit he took my air pods, sunglasses, and multiple items of clothing he stole by opening drawers! And there’s no way he will let go of them, unless bribed with treats. It seems to be a way for him to get attention, so he might settle down a bit if he’ll be an only-dog again at some point. I walked him up to 10k a day and he still wanted to be entertained in the evening, so make sure you have enough time for him during the sit, or don’t expect to sit down without having him on top of you! :)

Zini and Bella were found abandoned and close to starvation, and luckily Tom and Lara opened their home to them, despite having Benny, the two cats, AND an adorable toddler.
Bella is a really good girl and a treat. She is an older lady and loves to come close to you and be pet, but she also gets really excited about exercise! She just had a couple of tumors removed and had to stay in, so unfortunately I couldn’t take her out.

Zini was only 9 months old by the time of my sit and a ball of energy. He knows some commands, but gets overly excited and needs a lot of patience and a strong hand. He’s doing a lot of jumping and nipping atm, and will try to snap at anything that’s hanging loosely (like your sleeves, shorts). He’s incredibly smart and eager to learn, but also still gets nervous around other dogs. He loves to explore things with his mouth and teeth, wich meant we ended up with a couple of ripped dog beds and harnesses. That being said, he is still young and will be at a different point in his training by the next sit. He’s a lovely character and will grow up to be a great adult!

And lastly, the two cats are just the sweetest, and I’m sad I didn’t have more time for them. Popcorn especially loves to interact with humans and get some cuddles in if possible.

All in all, this sit was challenging and fun, I enjoyed all the exercise with the dogs. And I was happy to help out Tom and Lara as fellow animal-lovers in this unique situation. I have spent months in Cyprus before and took in more than one cat that needed saving. I also know how hard it is to rehome animals there or get one of the overcrowded shelters to take them on, so I was happy to offer a bit of support so the family could get a break. I would recommend this sit to animal lovers who like exercise, just make sure to bring enough clothes that are allowed to get dirty, and enough patience for strong-headed dogs, and you’ll have a great time!

This was a fabulous sit and introduction to London! Darren and Elliott are so kind and generous and really went above and beyond. The home is gorgeous, cozy, and comfortable, and they really make it an inviting environment.
Scampi is just the sweetest dog with so much personality, and Alfie even made a few rare appearances for some loving as well. Was a very easy going couple of days - I even stayed on for the next sit!

I truly enjoyed my time housesitting for Brandon! Jeffrey was such a sweetheart and was so easy to take care of. We had such a good time on our walks around the neighborhood and in Prospect Park! Brandon was super communicative and his apartment was in such a great location. I would definitely stay again!
