Miranda
We had a wonderful time at Miranda and Mark’s home. We arrived the night before and met the whole family before they set off on their trip. The “menagerie” was no problem to care for. The chickens sadly didn’t lay much for us but were no trouble. The cats were in and out all day but were always back at feeding time and at night. Blossom and Maggie were particularly cuddly in the morning and evening but all the cats were friendly. Jet the greyhound has a very calm and gentle personality, a lovely dog! We took him for a longer walk in the morning and an afternoon /evening skip around the golf course. He was always on lead and trotted alongside so beautifully. He never pulled and was incredibly gentle! We found lots of things to do in the area, lovely coastal walks, trips to Liverpool and Chester but also we were happy to chill in the lovely garden as we had amazing weather! The fruit was a bonus too (We arrived in plum season). Communication was good throughout. We highly recommend!

Lu
I loved my stay at Lu’s! The house is in a beautiful location with quick and easy access to the town of Steamboat. Lu was very communicative and helpful both in the weeks leading up and during the sit. Six animals may sound like a lot, but this crew of pets was amazing!! They are all so well behaved, cuddly and loving. They all have such sweet, unique personalities and get along so well. The responsibilities were very straight forward and easy. I truly miss them already!

Tabitha
We can highly recommend sitting for Tabitha and Jay; our sit experience was every bit as enjoyable as we had hoped it would be. Communication with this interesting, friendly couple was great before, during and after the sit - they quickly responded to our questions and even left us a bottle of wine and a plate of Jay's yummy homemade cookies!

Their early 1900s home is beautiful and comfortable, with relaxing outdoor spaces in their backyard, and an abundance of books and puzzles for rainy days. Their tree lined neighborhood is filled with historic homes and is within easy walking distance to Santa Ana's lively downtown scene. Orange County and LA attractions are a short drive away.

The best part of our experience was spending time with their friendly, playful, and intelligent Bengal cat Luna. Luna is the best mix of Independence and interactivity: while she used the cat flap to come and go as she pleased, she was always on time for dinner and spent evenings playing and sitting with us. She slept with us each night and her purring was so relaxing! We miss her and would be happy to return in the future.

Niamh
The welcome we received was amazing, we were entertained by the children with wonderful singing and chat. Niamh had baked a porridge bread and also left us some homemade soup and falafel. As for the pets well Sammy is such a sweet heart and and gentleman so well mannered with a big heart and is happy to be walked on lead. Chickpea is full of love and affection and loves getting cosy with you. The hens were no bother and just enjoy a ramble around the property
The location is rural with rolling hills and plenty of trails. Craanford mill is nearby and has a lovely tea room. Tomnafinnoge National Park is about a 15 minute drive away.
We had a very enjoyable sit, thanks.

Danielle
Do you like dogs? He's a 2-year-old lab puppy!! As I said to Danielle: Doby has little concern about stranger danger, and welcomed me into his house in true labrador fashion: with extreme eagerness to make a new friend. This made for a really fun and really easy sit.

Danielle's house is as cozy as it looks, and was left immaculately clean for my arrival. Danielle is absolutely lovely, and she left detailed instructions for Doby's care, and for general house operations.

Sooke is a charming and friendly seaside town. If you are not local to southern BC, you should know that coming in a car would be ideal; I had a leisurely 5.5 hour trip on transit from Vancouver, and the local (dog-friendly!) taxi was able to take Doby and I to the famed Sooke potholes for a breathtaking hike and cold plunge. However, this area is rural, and ideally you want to be able to adventure out into every nook and cranny of beaches, woods, and local businesses. Additionally, you would need to be very careful about timing transit connections.

Todd Creek Trussel meets the Sooke potholes, but is currently closed for maintenance. In addition to the potholes you will also be recommended to walk Whiffin Spit: the entrance to the spit is a lovely hour-long walk from Danielle's house, which will take you through town and past numerous micro-breweries, as well as the *sublime* Wild Mountain restaurant: this is the slow food, farm-to-table, island dining experience that you want to have. Trust me!

The absolutely best part about this sit is that almost everything you would want to do in Sooke, is dog friendly. From beaches to trails, to patios, to food trucks. The town center is a 15-minute walk from Danielle's house, where you will find everything you need. Across the whole weekend, I only had to leave Doby for a couple of hours, in order to visit a restaurant that didn't yet have its patio open. Ideal for a dog that likes big hugs and big walks, and is so dang cute that it seems unreasonable to leave his side.

Many thanks for a truly lovely weekend, Danielle!
