I had the best time with Rusty in Kirsten's new home. Rusty is the sweetest soul, intelligent and full of love - he loves snuggling and playing and is a delight. Kirsten left great instructions and supplies and answered all my questions promptly. I would definitely recommend sitting, and would be happy to do so again.
Had such an amazing time taking care of Lexi! She is so sweet and calm and affectionate. Becky and Rick were wonderful hosts I felt at home immediately. Their house is unbelievable with their garden that's more like a private park and a wonderful huge kitchen living area, with amazing light where I could work during the day. I had such a brilliant time taking Lexi for walks in the surrounding fields of Oxford and in the University gardens which are incredibly beautiful. The city of Oxford is only 10mins away by bike and Becky and Rick were kind enough to let me use one of their bikes while I was there which was so brilliant! I could zip down to the Natural History museum and park the bike there and wander around the gorgeous city. There really is so much to see in Oxford its worth visiting again and again! Missing Lexi so much already she really was the best little doggo!
Barry & Marlena were lovely hosts! The apartment is a mere 100 meters from Guinness, which you might find fascinating. Easy walk to bus stop and Lidl. But most of all it’s the home of Gomez and Fez, two wonderful, smart, lovable cats who share the apartment with Barry & Marlena-:) After the first day of settling in, Gomez and Fez shared “Telly time” beside me purring away, and many nights we shared the bed...unless I tossed and turned to much! They both communicated quite well and were a real pleasure to know! Fez will steal your heart. And Gomez, the big softy, will have you in the palm of his paws. All the Best, Allen
Karen’s home is beautiful, well equipped and very comfortable. I stayed with my friend and we felt very relaxed and very much at home, the house was very warm and the beds very comfortable which we needed as we didn’t have great weather all week it was quite cold and the area is quite exposed. The dogs all have very distinct personalities but are very well trained. We also looked after Karen‘s daughter’s dog so we had four in total which would have been a handful for me had I’ve been on my own, but my friend was with me so it was fine. The dogs are all very well trained and have good recall, They definitely need at least one good if not two good walks a day! We were able to leave the dogs on their own once they’d been walked while we went out and about and did some sightseeing. Rodney, the pig is very friendly, very easy to look after as other chickens, the turkeys could be a bit a bit stubborn about going into their bed at night but that’s to be expected. Two of the cats were very friendly, but Maude kept herself to herself, Bob was for my favourite but both him and cracker really love fuss! I’m an environmentalist and I really appreciated how well Karen’s home was set up in terms of sustainability, no nasty, chemical cleaners or anything like that around and good recycling, compost options. We had more eggs than we could eat and brought some home with us. If you are looking for weather updates before you go away, Macclesfield seems to be the nearest place the Met Office provides weather for. We found a lovely local dairy where we were able to get milk more or less straight from the cow, and either Macclesfield or Buxton are within easy reach for supermarkets for shopping. Karen was really responsive to all my messages, helpful in terms of anything extra, I need to know about the animals or local amenities.
I had the most wonderful time sitting here. John and Claire as such kind caring people and they greeted me to show me around their home before they went away. Chloe is still a kitten and has lots of energy so loves plenty of interaction and play. Pteppic is in and out most of the day roaming but likes to say hello after being out for a while and has a snooze on the bed with me at night. Overall a very relaxing home with great company!
Starting with the pre-sit communication, Dawn and Steve were very communicative, especially in the weeks leading up to the scheduled sit, even texting a series of videos highlighting some of the key items of the home and other factors. The house was one week from completed construction, so it goes without saying that all was clean. The sit itself was wonderful. Echo and Ruby took a little bit of time to warm up but once they did they were very social. The location was also fantastic with shopping and restaurants very close by. I generally target locations with hiking and entertainment nearby, and this area did not disappoint. I was able to get in several hikes, a concert at Red Rocks, and a Rockies game, all within a very short drive. I look forward to visiting the area again in the future and would certainly return to Dawn and Steve's home if their needs align with my schedule.
