This was my first sit on trustedhousesitters, and I am so grateful that Francesca and Dom took a chance on me! We were able to communicate prior the sit and also during the sit to make sure everyone will be comfortable and happy: them, me and the cat! Pumpkin is a really sweet cat, he can be a bit loud sometimes but is very cuddly and playful! The flat is amazing, it’s really cozy, and Francesca did everything for me to feel comfortable! It is located on the High Street which makes it super convenient to get around, and the neighborhood itself is really lovely with everything you need!
I absolutely loved looking after Reggie and Ted. It was an instant bond and we had a lot of fun playing n throwing ball outside. Bill and Madison’s home is beautiful and makes you feel instantly relaxed n welcomed. All the instructions were perfectly laid out and once we got into rhythm on day 2- it was simple bliss! Thanks for a wonderful stay, I miss the fellas already.
I would consider caution when deciding to housesit for Robin and Mark, which is unfortunate, as their pets are super adorable and sweet, and their condo is in a good location in Seattle. Too many circumstances of the sit made us uncomfortable and the expectations are borderline unreasonable. The most notable concern, was that when our two week sit was nearly over, we discovered a hidden camera that had been continually recording without our knowledge or consent. This is very clearly a violation of the TH ‘Camera and Recording Devices Policy’. Finding a hidden camera was very upsetting and goes against the very premise of trust that the site and community is built on. The crew is adorable, but the care of the dog, cats, bunnies, and aquariums is very demanding. We knew this beforehand, and were happily up for it, but the expectations are more reflective of their desire for a professional specialized pet and plant care service. We arranged our flights to accommodate their travel plans and to meet the day before. We planned an hour to meet and go through the instructions, after already reviewing the detailed care guide multiple times. This still wasn’t satisfactory for them, as they felt more time was needed despite us demonstrating continued flexibility and clear understanding of the requirements. They expect precision continuity of the demanding routines for all 6+ of their pets. While this is obviously necessary for the delicate ecosystems of the aquariums, which we perfectly maintained, there is a line that goes beyond what is reasonable or necessary. Despite needing to feed the bunnies fresh fruit, we were left with one banana and a jar of moldy strawberries, meaning we had to go buy their fruit for two weeks. It was also noted that the bunnies might have an occasional accident on the floor, requiring you to sweep it up. This is no big deal, if true. The bunnies constantly pooped on the rugs, despite the litter boxes being cleaned regularly. They also have a very aggressive downstairs neighbor, which impacted our stay multiple times. They informed us that we cannot vacuum or make any noises after 5pm, as the neighbor is sensitive to noise. This doesn’t align well with working full time from home, and then not being able to clean up after the messy animals that require daily cleaning due to the poop and hay that are strewn about. The neighbor would bang on his ceiling if we made the slightest noise at a reasonable hour. When we were leaving at the end of our sit, he came pounding on the door and tried to force himself inside, all because we were briefly vacuuming at 7pm on a Saturday. Be cautious when accepting and know what you are getting into beforehand!
This was a wonderful sit. Marni’s home is lovely, comfortable and extremely clean. She left everything needed for an easy acclimation to her home—little sticky notes to point out where items were located, etc. And Bennie! Bennie is a dear! He is such a handsome guy, and well-behaved. He is quiet, gentle, and affectionate. And it’s funny to see how much he loves his food. Bennie is the first cat I’ve known who will come running when you ring a little 🔔. It’s because he gets a treat of course, but it’s still amazing to see him suddenly turn up out of nowhere. Marni and Bennie’s house is a very short walk from two grocery stores and many other services. In short, the sit was in a convenient location; provided a safe, quiet, comfortable place to stay; and included the sweetest cat imaginable. The location also provides easy access to the State Capitol, popular downtown area, of Columbia. Highly recommend!
