Such an amazing sit! Montriond is a beautiful location in summer. So much to do in the area, including hiking, kayaking, swimming at the gorgeous lake, visiting the "goat" village, and taking cable cars/chairlifts up mountains. I didn't have a car but it wasn't an issue - there is a free local bus and connections from here to Thonon and from there to Geneva. I had such a lovely time with Falco the sausage dog. He's quite old but for sure still has the spark of youth! His eyes lit up when we played softly with the tennis ball, and he was super enthusiastic for meal times and for walks. He pees often so can't be left along for more than around 4 or 5 hours at a time but that wasn't a problem for me at all. In the evenings he is great company on the couch (but try lift him on and off it, to save his back). Becca's communication was great - she's a lovely person. Her apartment is small and at night the couch folds out to become the bed, but its honestly not a problem once you know what to expect (which I did). The terrace out the back was a fun extra place to hang out in the evening sun. All in all, a fantastic sit and I would go back in a heartbeat. Any sitter would be lucky to nab this one while they can! X
Dog-sitting for Maryam and Jared was a charming engagement. Sammy and Leela are two vibrant, wonderful characters, and looking after them was easy, we all bonded within a short space of time during this short visit. Sammy and Leela are delightful, as different in character as they appear. Leela is the boss, Sammy, older, more sanguine and resigned to Leela's behaviour, but they are both affectionate and cuddly in their own way, frequently sitting on the bed and keeping me company as I worked at my laptop. Leela is quite strong on the lead during walks and believes that she can take down passing traffic, so she needs to a tight rein at crossroads. They always gave me a warm welcome on coming home. Maryam's beautiful, tasteful and light-filled apartment is a lovely space to work, relax and cook in. It is well appointed and adjacent to Dún Laoghaire town. Maryam is highly professional, easy-going and was immediately trusting of my stay. Overall, this was a wholly positive dog-mind in a lovely place. Sunny and Merengue are a joy to look after. They are warm, curious and energetic. Stacy was a marvelous host, she provided local recommendations, made sure to lay out everything we needed while staying the weekend (towels, humidifier, extra blankets), and grouped the cat's food/supplements as well, making it very easy as a sitter. Highly recommend Stacy's-- it was clean, exceptionally comfortable with an added bonus of adorable cats.
Pats and Roger were a delight as hosts and so very helpful! By far my favorite house sit yet :) The house is perfectly clean and tidy with 2 balconies for hanging out. Cedrick tends to pull on the leash a bit but is the most expert fetch player. One of the most friendly and smartest animals Iv come across. Fubi is the fluffiest typical kitty. She is completely independent doing her business and exploring outside. She does warm up to you, just takes a bit of time. I quite like her. Everything you need is within 10 min walk, including a market, cafes, and a bar. Lots of exploring along the beaches nearby 5 min is the closest one, with some old ruins and the bigger port with more commercialized stores and conveniences is 10 min drive/ 10.00 cab ride. Wonderful experience would 100% come back again. :)
It was a pleasure to look after Greystripe and Fireheart both times!! They are absolutely adorable cats. I felt really attached to them by the end of the sit. They both have such lovely personalities. GS became extremely affectionate after he got more comfortable and would often come and lie on my chest or lap whilst I was on the sofa or in bed in the morning. He was the most cuddly cat and it was so nice to have him as a movie watching buddy. FH is also great, he's super affectionate too but prefers to lie next to you and be petted, he will lap this up! He comes and rolls around next to you as if to say "pet me"! FH is probably the more playful one of the two but they both have a really funny half-hour sometimes where they chase each other around the house. Mitchell, Sylwia and Gabriel are also lovely! They were always on hand for any questions and were great sitter hosts :) I'd highly recommend this sit and would love to look after the boys again! Will miss them a lot
Katie has a great house with a cool vibe in a very beautiful area. She was very organized and informative about the house and the care of Piper. Her dog Piper is an ultra sweetie. She was an absolute joy to be around and care for.
