Kelly housesat for the 11 days that we were away. She arrived at the house two hours before we left, allowing plenty of time for both an orientation to the home and an introduction to our free-roaming cat, Buddy. As we had discussed prior to our departure, Kelly kept us updated through texts and many photographs. Since Buddy is not your typical stay-at-home housecat, we particularly wanted to know how he was adjusting to a new human presence, so Kelly provided more frequent reports on their progress during the first half of her sit. The pictures and Kelly’s descriptions of their interactions demonstrated that the two developed a bond, and that Buddy was comfortable having Kelly as his caregiver. Upon our return, we found our home in perfect order. Despite her professing to not having a green thumb, Kelly successfully tended to the plants that we had growing in the house and on our patio. Buddy was undoubtedly comfortable with Kelly. We appreciated her care and communications and would be happy to have her housesit again.
Kirsten was an excellent pet sitter. In scheduling the petsit she was responsive, organised and accommodating. When she arrived she instantly made a connection with our young labrador dog. She was super friendly, confident and competent. While we were away Kirsten shared photos of her walks with Ella and when we returned the house was in perfect condition and our furry family was very happy. Kirsten even left us a thank you gift. Would love to have Kirsten back and recommend her very highly.
Patrice and Brad were excellent sitters. Communication was excellent and they left the home in better condition than they found it. Patrice is a talented artist and left a small watercolor painting of our cat, which was a very special gift. Would be happy to host them again.
Amazing sit, I can’t say enough about it. I'm so grateful for the opportunity to visit Cedar Key, care for two of the sweetest cats, meet two wonderful people, and spend everyday by the water. Pang-zi and Charolette are very lovable and two of the sweetest cats I've ever met. When not sleeping they enjoy attention, love, caring interaction, and being talked to. Charolette likes to talk to you from her perch, play with string, cuddle with soft blankets, and brushes. Pang-Zi likes being talked to, gentle pets, belly rubs, laying on his green bag, hanging out on the porch, and brushes. Nigel & Karen are very kind and generous, welcoming me into their home with flexible dates of arrival and departure. They both communicated well on expectations. They were very accommodating and helpful when plans needed to be adapted for Hurricane Debbie. They assisted in the plan changes and allowed me to choose how to proceed. They also expressed their gratitude for assisting their babies while they were away. As well as, checked in on me to see how I was doing, which was much appreciated. The house is wonderful and comfortable with amazing views of the water, surrounding islands, and sunsets. It has everything you'd need for daily cooking, laundry, pool, hot-tub, bike, and kayak. There is water access from the condo but it’s not ideal for swimming and tide makes the walkable beach disappear. It is good for checking out the oysters, bird life, and looking for shells at low tide. My favorite spot is the deck, a beautiful view from any angle. Cedar Key is a beautiful small community with very kind people and intentional businesses. There are no corporations here so if you're used to your 7 eleven and Publix it's probably not the place for you. The community has most everything you could need like boat tours, golf cart rentals, fishing, kayaking, grocery market, post office, pizza place, seafood, bars, coffee shops, museum, and wild life preserve. The beach is small and has shallow water to swim and hang out in. Waves are tiny and ideal for using a floaty. The water is murky due to the mudflats being so close by and the bottom is mushy. It's more like a lake would feel than a typical Florida beach. I loved it however because swimming in salt water has so many amazing benefits. And, you can see dolphins swim and play here every day. I’m so happy I was picked for this sit. It was perfect for me and I will definitely be visiting Cedar Key and hopefully this family again.
