Thanks to Carolyn, our confidence was restored after a rather disappointing first experience. We confirmed the house sit with Carolyn just 3 weeks prior to our vacation as our first sitter had to cancel due to a medical emergency. During our first meeting we felt comfortable with Carolyne, she was professional, pleasant and very forth coming with the possibility she may need to cancel due to a personal situation. Given the short time till our vacation, we decided to confirm with the understanding we had a backup plan if needed. We were so lucky it all worked out, Carolyn was very independent, she had read the welcome package throughly and as such she was very prepared for the visit. She communicated with us as needed ( we didn't expect daily emails) with either questions and or updates and was quick to respond to any of our texts. We returned home late in the evening to a very clean and tidy house and a dog that was happy and well cared for. We would definitely invite Carolyn again and recommend her for house sits without hesitation.
Lizzie and Dan were literally the best house and cat sitters we could have asked for! They were our first house sitters, and we really wanted our cats, Darcey and Winston, to have some company whilst we were away, but understandably had anxiety about leaving our cats and house with someone we hadn’t met. As soon as they arrived our worries and anxieties subsided and we knew we had made the best decision. Our kittens are only 7 months old and Darcey has been very shy when she first arrived and had some anxiety, but had been doing amazingly well on medication and lots of love and attention. Unfortunately it transpired she still didn’t like new people coming to the house (!), but Lizzie and Dan were so patient with her (whilst she hid up the fireplace!!) and it wasn’t long until Lizzie replaced me as Darcey’s favourite human! Their knowledge of helping cats with health issues, anxiety, and change was evident, and we were beyond grateful they invested their skills, time and patience with our two little ones and ensuring Darcey got her medication. We received regular updates about Darcey and Winston with lots of photos and videos which was really reassuring. The house was immaculate when we arrived back to two very happy cats. I can’t recommend Lizzie and Dan enough, and only wished they were local to Adelaide for us to use them when we go away again!
Is it better to board cats or leave at home?
