We enjoyed looking after Gunner in Mabel's lovely apartment in a perfect central location to attractions. Gunner was easy to look after as an inside cat who enjoyed sitting on the balcony as much as at your feet. Mabel is a gracious host and communication with her was excellent. We offer our best wishes to our kind host.
If you have the opportunity to visit Toni and Gracie at Lady Bug Cottage, consider yourself lucky indeed. What an incredible place to find yourself, and I am still not sure who is sweeter – Toni or Gracie!! Due to a wicked winter storm and flight delays I had the opportunity to spend several days with Toni prior to her trip, and what a “blessing in disguise” this was. Toni is simply an amazing human. She is exceptionally thoughtful, incredibly generous, and one of the most interesting people I have ever met – the time we spent together was simply lovely. When Toni left for her trip, she left me armed with “best snowshoe trails”, “best local eateries”, “best local shops”, and a thorough tour of Truckee! Her daughter even checked in with us to make sure that we had everything we needed. Gracie is incredibly smart, very sweet, and never tires of snowshoeing or hiking – what a pup. She had us figured out in about 24 hours, and knew that my husband was the softy and who she could mooch treats and extra play time from (Gracie LOVES playing hide and seek BTW). She is wonderful with other dogs, and always very friendly on our hikes with other pups. Lady bug cottage is exactly what it sounds like – cute as a button, with everything you could possibly need (complete with back up coffee to back up coffee to back up coffee in case of a winter storm) :) The cottage backs onto beautiful snowshoeing trails, and is a quick drive down the hill into town. We would sit for Toni and Gracie again in a heartbeat – simply a beautiful place, a sweet pup, and a very cool woman.
Emma and Hank were very welcoming, their house is comfy and Merlin is a lovely little guy, if a bit anxious. Merlin is a good boy and generally a happy young dog but as a rescue, it is apparent his early life wasn't easy prior to Hank & Emma adopting him; this means he needs patience when he balks at something and allowed to warm to you in his own time, which he will. He and I had some lovely walks on the beaches of Margate. He is friendly and good with dogs and people alike. He also loves ball (if there's no other dog to play with) ;-) His recall is generally good, though he did give me a fright one day when he was reluctant after having got spooked by another dog whilst off lead. When working at the kitchen table he was happy to snooze or watch the world out of the kitchen window seat. Hank & Emma's place is comfortable and I had everything I needed for my week at their place. Emma gave me a warm welcome, picked me up at the station and took me through Merlin's routine and ensured he saw that she was comfortable with me (Hank was already at their holiday destination). I would recommend sitting for Merlin on behalf of Hank and Emma, they are all lovely :-)
This sit was one we will always remember. Emily and her family are a joy to be around and was great with communication on all fronts. The dogs were an absolute treat to have! We really bonded with them and all their different personalities. The dogs were easy to look after and offered a great range of intense cuddles and complete independence. The chickens and fish were also a joy and such fun to look after. I would highly recommend this stay to anyone!
I loved my stay at Ellen's! Her home is so lovely, comfortable and sun-filled which was refreshing after this long winter! It's an easy 10 minute walk to all the stores in town or the Riverside Park in the other direction. Ellen is very easy-going and made sure I had everything I needed for my stay and everything was very straightforward. Dewey is an absolute sweetheart of a pup! He has such a funny personality and kept me entertained. From waking me up with morning wrestles, his nighttime snuggles - to his firm belief that he is a lap dog, he is quite the character and I was sad to leave him! I highly recommend this sit!
