We had a fantastic week in West Linton and loved the rural farm life looking after the sweet goats, chickens and geese. The daily routine was simple and the animals were all friendly and let you handle them. Gordon and Tamsyn were great communicators from the beginning and talked us through everything as well as putting it in writing. We were able to contact them anytime and they went out of their way to make us feel at home. Their house was warm and comfortable with a great kitchen for boiling up our daily geese eggs. From start to finish this was a really memorable stay and we'd definitely be keen to come back.
It was an absolute delight meeting Mary Beth and taking care of Baxter and Otis. This was my first TrustedHouseSitters experience, and I couldn't imagine a better one. Mary Beth was communicative, flexible, and just a joy to get to know. Her house is lovely and a great spot from which to explore Santa Fe. Baxter and Otis are some of the friendliest cats I've ever met, and the number of photos I now have of them on my phone might rival the number Mary Beth has of them on hers. Highly recommend this pet/housesit, and I hope I get to come back some day myself.
Alex and Richard are wonderful! Very thorough and thoughtful hosts. Monty was a delight, very straightforward and easy to look after. He loved his daily walks, as did we. We would happily house sit for them again, and would definitely recommend applying if the opportunity arises.
We had a lovely sit at Lynn’s. We looked after both Lucy and Leo who were a pleasure to look after. Communication was fantastic from Lynn and we had everything we needed for the sit!
I loved this pet-sit with Taupo and friends. First off, Cherie and Trever were really good communicators with clear directions, expectations, and explanations of responsibilities and feeding routines. Secondly, they live in a stunning home on the bluffs overlooking Tumalo State Park and the Cascade mountains - what an amazing place for a morning coffee and meditation! Tumalo Park property is a quick walk away, so makes for the perfect location for taking Taupo on longer excursions. I started out the first morning with a 5-mile hike along the river path at Tumalo State Park. Taupo still has exuberant puppy energy, so he never grows tired, but he was obedient and problem-free on the leash hike in the park. He is a super smart dog and roams the property leash-free around his home with galloping abundance, never straying too far and returns quickly when called. Taupo easily got exercise on his own as I walked around the grounds, as he loves running in circles in the yard and looping out and around the trees. He never gets into trouble. In the evenings, as bed-time approached, he would be relaxed and wound down enough to more readily accept gentle petting and even a few belly rubs. Ace, the barn cat, was loving and low maintenance. The hens and ducks were pretty simple to manage with well-built coops and even an automated door for the hens to go in for the night. They also produce plenty of farm fresh eggs for a hearty morning breakfast. The kitchen is well equipped with precision layout and highly functional appliances which are simple and intuitive to operate. On a clear day, the Cascade mountains and the Tumalo river offer stunning views from the kitchen, deck and the main living room. The guest bedroom was indeed cozy and comfortable with en-suite bathroom. The home is equipped with an alarm system, so I felt perfectly safe and secure the whole time. In addition, Bend is an iconic city with loads of things to do and even more outdoor adventures awaiting. I explored the Lava Butte and Benham Falls about 30-minute away, and after my sit I traveled on and had an epic day at Crater Lake! I would have no hesitation returning to sit with Taupo and friends if the opportunity arises again.
I don’t know where to start to describe how incredibly wonderful this sit was. Sheila is such a lovely host who made me feel so very welcome in her beautiful home. She kindly picked me up from the train station and after a wonderful walk with the dogs took me to the local pub for dinner. Her house is in the most picturesque spot, high on a ridge commanding the most spectacular views of the surrounding hills and Combs Reservoir that provided amazing dog walking opportunities. Her garden is magical and home to the most amazing bird life including a Great Spotted Woodpecker and cute squirrels. Loads of bird food on hand to entice them into her garden. Easy to spend an hour or so sitting outside with a cup of tea to watch the glory of Mother Nature. Sheila’s home is beautiful, cosy and comfortable and I had the best sleeps in the guest bedroom and cooked up a storm in her wonderful kitchen. The main attraction taking centre stage was of course Mr Darcy and Miss Lottie. Two of the most loving adorable dogs I’ve cared for. Each with their own lovely personalities providing loads of entertainment. Darcy is handsome, loving, energetic and fabulous off lead with great recall. A typical Collie who loves his ball and it provided endless opportunities to keep him occupied and having fun on walks and in the neighbouring meadow. He is the perfect model for photos and happily posed for selfies. Lottie is sweet, petite and gentle always up for a cuddle. She was excellent on lead and a joy to walk. They are both a credit to Sheila and are a joy to care for and hang out with. This was a dream sit and I would return in a heartbeat. A very special thank you to Sheila and her fur babies xxx
