This was a super house sit! Communication with Jill was very easy before the sit, and I had a video chat with Jill, Clive and Rufus. We arrived the afternoon before the start of the sit, spending the evening getting to know Rufus, the house and the area. Jill and Clive were very welcoming, it was lovely to meet them. We walked with Rufus to The Anchor, for a delicious meal. The area is lovely, very rural with nice walks on quiet roads, leafy footpaths and along the estuary. The house is situated on Sustrans Route 41, so we had some nice cycle rides too. Jill and Clive's house is a cosy, comfortable cottage, with a beautiful garden - great to relax and bird watch in. And Rufus is delightful. Very easy going, well behaved and affectionate. It was a pleasure to look after him. We would recommend this house sit and would be very happy to return.
Graaacieee... This dog is 60 kilograms of pure muscle and may give you trouble pulling on walks. She is also 60 kilograms of pure love, staring at you with admiration, nuzzling your ears, and giving you the gentlest paw ever if you ask for it with some food in your other hand. Her floppy ears are velvet; she breathes, dreams and groans in contentment as she sleeps through most of the day at home. If you ever dream of being close to a Great Dane like I do, you will fall for her no matter what. I found that the way to Gracie's heart is butt massage and play. She loves tug-of-war and mouthy, growly roughhousing, making sure to keep her mouth super soft if your hand or arm gets in it. There truly isn't the slightest bit of aggression in this girl; she is gentle, affectionate, and 100 percent benign like a true Great Dane. Be careful with run and chase though; Gracie jumped on me and knocked me down with ease when I thoughtlessly ran around with her outside. Enjoy the magical dog forest in nearby Prater where, as an exception, dogs are allowed to be off leash. Prater is also good if you're in the mood for drawing attention and receiving approx. 2,500,000 words praising your dog's beauty. It's Gracie. Ryan, I am grateful to you for trusting me to look after Gracie. I am also grateful to you for opening your home to me and letting me bring my pup along without hesitation. I spent a wonderful week here soaking up as much of Gracie's love as I could. I sure hope to return one day, and I wholeheartedly recommend this sit.
Kai and Ross were very nice to us. Their home is really beautiful and comfortable. Frank is an independent and intelligent cat. He likes fresh tap water and looks for you to cuddle! Winston and Bruce are LOVELY. They like to play together and they will accompany you everywhere you go. Even to the washroom! They are energetic and super fun. You will also enjoy cuddling with them. For sure, they are going to make you have a great time. Super recommended!!
Excellent sit. Rolo was an absolute star so well behaved never known a dog like it. The house is situated close to some wonderful beach/ headland walks and is well equipped. Kevin is lovely too.
I'd definitely recommend sitting for Roger! The house is beautiful and Roger was a really responsive host. A couple of things came up (LoveBug had a health issue, and there was a water leak), and in both cases Roger was very available to help resolve them even though he was in Europe. Also, I am not exaggerating when I say that Tibby is my favorite cat I've ever taken care of! She spends a lot of her time roaming around outdoors (which means I only had to scoop the litter once during a 6-week sit!), but she always came back every evening for dinner and cuddles. (LoveBug is sweet too, she's just less cuddly!)
Oh what sweethearts Camey and Tealan are! Camey is a wiggly snuggly senior who loves belly rubs, ear rubs and her treats. We giggled every time she thought she might get a treat because she did a little “tippity tap” dance! She slept with us at night but we hardly knew she was there because she curls up into a tiny ball at our feet. As Ann said in her listing, Tealan is timid and cautious around new people. But she is a very brave girl who overcame her fears and joined us in bed in the mornings (I think it was to let us know it was time to eat!), sit with us on the couch, allow us to pet her (she LOVED butt scratches!), and put on her harness for our daily walks. We responded to her like we do with cats: talking softly, moving slowly, and allowing her to come to us when she was ready. We’ve completed over 60 petsits on TH and Camey and Tealan are two of the BEST pups we’ve walked on-leash. They do not pull, they listen and respond to commands (eg, leave it), and they ignore people, bikes, and other dogs. They are a dream to walk and the trails/paths near their home are perfect for walking pups! Communication with Ann was thorough, helpful, and timely. We enjoyed our conversations with her throughout the process. Her home is located in a quiet, safe neighborhood with easy access to the Cherry Creek Trail System as well as other Denver attractions. We would recommend this opportunity to others.
