My pet sit of Daley and Chippy for Yvonne was the highlight of my year! Daley and Chippy are sweet and independent kitties who come and go as they please. They were quick to befriend me and to allow me to feed and care for them with ease. Chippy was especially lovey dovie in the mornings and joined me on my bed when it would rain in the night. Miss Daley was very regular for morning feedings and easily took her liquid medicine from me. The excellent communication I had before my sit through messaging and a video chat with Yvonne insured my pet sit would be a success. Thanks to Yvonne’s thorough welcome guide and personal tour the day before her departure of her home, gardens and cat care routines, I was set up for success. A week before my pet sit Yvonne kindly picked my daughter and I up in Basel and treated us to a traditional Swiss breakfast and hike around her village before driving us to the train station in Liestal. Again a week later, Yvonne picked me up in Liestal and gave me the grand tour of her home, cats, and introduced me to her friends. Once again, Yvonne made us a wonderful Swiss meal and left me with a tasty Swiss treat along with her famous breakfast muesli. Yvonne’s home is beautiful and spacious. Yvonne left her home immaculate and well stocked for me. I had a top floor all to myself with a t.v., living room, and large bed and dresser. She did offer her master bedroom a floor down as well. The garden was lush and plentiful and through Yvonne’s clear guidance, I learned to care for and enjoy all the fruit and veggies. Most of my morning were spent feeding Daley & Chippy, having breakfast, and watering plants. Afternoons I enjoyed a trip to Liestal Saturday Farmer’s Market, trip to see the museums in Basel, and hiking all the wonderful trails in and around Lupsingen. Every three days I mowed in 20 minutes the lawn and every evening watered the garden. If you are into hiking, Komoot is the app for you. I highly recommend Yvonne’s pet sit and I certainly hope to return one day.
Kimberly was such a great host! She welcomed us with honey that she made from her honey bees. So sweet! The communication was easy with her and everything went smoothly. Her pets are so adorable! It was really easy and fun to take care of all of them. My daughters loved them too and Kimberly’s pets got along very well with our dog. Her house is spacious and comfortable, and well located not so far from the beaches and from Mobile. We would sit again for Kimberly anytime.
I sat for Mini for 3 weeks in Aug/Sep 2022. Helene and Mike live in a glorious home on the Eastern Bay, across from San Francisco. Their home is impeccable, comfortable and offers fantastic views from the gigantic rooftop terrace. If you're a fan of TV, they have a built in surround sound in their living room. I arrived a day early so that we could have a kind of a rolling handover, which I always prefer. Helene showed me the neighborhood walks (lots of steep hills to keep you fit!), and we circled through the town center of Point Richmond, which has a number of cute shops, coffeehouses, restaurants and bars. Mini is an easy dog to care for - she's eager to go on walks, isn't timid and is all around adorable. We took at least two walks every day and she's used to going into shops and coffeehouses where she's welcome, so she won't restrict your sightseeing. I didn't have a car, which I think would have made my stay a little more enjoyable. I did have things delivered, and also used Uber to get to the ferry (about a 15-20 minute ride, about $10-15) so maybe the cost of a rental car would have been similar (and driving can be stressful!). Helene and Mike have a beautiful kitchen with plenty of amenities. One thing to note is that they don't cook much, so baking pans are lacking. The guestroom is very comfortable, complete with a motorized bed that can be adjusted for upright reading with your knees up - super luxurious! Mini slept on the end of the bed and didn't stir all night, so no interference with my sometimes restless sleep. Mike was the instructor for things within the house - wifi, TV, caring for the extensive cactus garden on the roof terrace. Helene covered all things Mini. She has quite a specific feeding routine with multiple ingredients. She tends to be finicky, and will suddenly decide to turn her nose up at her meal. She did this a couple of times while I was there. I let Helene know, and we agreed that she was otherwise fine, so to just wait her out. Eventually she ate again, as expected. I can highly recommend this sit. I think it is best suited to someone who is keen on paying close attention to the details (I took pictures and videos during the instructing), keeping a tidy home and spending lots of your time with Mini. She has a variety or carrying cases, so you can take her anywhere. She isn't so happy being left home, alone. Helene and Mike are wonderfully kind people, enthusiastic travellers and great communicators. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting them and taking care of their home and darling "Min-Min".
I had a such a lovely week with Wes. What a sweet boy. He was gentle, affectionate and so good on his lead. Amy's cottage is in the most idyllic country setting with a peaceful garden and a cosy sitting room with a fire. The bed was very comfy too. Amy was really good at keeping in touch which helped everything run smoothly.
Sloane and Parson are lovely cats. Kirsty was very helpful and accommodating. Kirsty left lots of local recommendations for the local area including walks which was very useful. Kirsty's home is beautiful and the cats were great company.
It was lovely to sit for Sharon, Cookie and Monty are both sweeties, all info that Sharon told me was spot on and they were very hospitable.
