It was a real pleasure to cat sit for Fenella's sweet kitties, Moug and Tubsy as they're such affectionate and gentle natured cats who both really enjoy human company including being stroked and groomed and they also both really love their food! And whilst they're mainly indoor cats, they enjoyed spending some short walks round the lovely enclosed rear garden (under my supervision). And i'm very grateful to Fenella for giving me such a helpful and thorough handover at the start of the sit (including the very useful tips on how to approach Moug (who is sadly blind and deaf), in order to avoid startling him, and i learned to gently touch his tail before patting/stroking him and to knock on the floor in front of him to guide him in the right direction such as toward his dinner for example, as well Fenella showing me the feeding routine (Tubsy is on a diet so she is fed a bit less than Moug). And Fenella was very hospitable and friendly and welcoming during my stay, as well as being great with communication before and during the sit and she very kindly allowed me to stay an extra few nights in her home which i really appreciate very much. And i would definitely recommend this sit in the lovely company of Moug and Tubsy and i also really enjoyed the opportunity to chat with Fenella and to stay in her lovely comfortable and stylish home which has a very relaxed and welcoming atmosphere and has all mod cons, as well as being only a few minutes walk from the tube and the high street with its many shops and supermarkets etc so its very conveniently located also. Many thanks Fenella for the opportunity to cat sit for you and for being such a generous host and it was great to get to know you a bit during my stay.
Giada and me had the best time with Jake, an energetic and funny dog who made our days. The house and the pool are just perfect and the communication with Kylie and her lovely family was easy and fluent. We are so grateful to have the opportunity of spending 12 nights so close to Geneva. Thanks, family!
My friend and I spent 3 nights in Kate’s beautiful home with her delightful mother/daughter labs and cat. The best behaved labs I have taken care of. Great on and off the lead. Never strayed far from you and recall amazing, even when they had an exciting opportunity to chase a swan that had come up onto land.
As the owners correctly point out, if you love cats then this is the place for you! Darren and Jacky are great hosts and made me feel very welcome when I first arrived. Communication prior to, during and post sit was excellent and always good humoured. They provided me with a very informative welcome pack about all the pets and a very detailed list about their dietary and medicinal needs. Their home has areas which are very cat friendly and a fabulous purpose-built cat room, and also an easy to use kitchen and en-suite bedroom with comfortable king size bed! There are lots of interesting surrounding areas to explore, but you’ll be far too busy giving and receiving attention from the affectionate pets who live here. I really enjoyed my time house sitting here and can thoroughly recommend this sit to other cat loving sitters!
It was my privilege to sit for 6 week sits looking after Jen & Martin's puppy Abby and increasingly domesticated cats Bro and Larry, all of whom were rescued. Jen & Martin could not have been more hospitable, with Jen picking me up from the airport and arranging in advance for me to be insured on her car, with a car being a necessity for the area. Having a few days crossover before Jen & Martin left was brilliant, as it allowed me to bond with the animals and learn about their routine with the owners present, which is much less stressful for all concerned! My host’s communication was perfect, and their comprehensive welcome guide was a mine of useful information, with the detailed vet contact information a sitter needs in an emergency. Jenny & Martin really care about their sitter’s experience, and regularly update the guide with sitter feedback. Their home is gorgeous with everything you could ever need, and is situated on a welcoming street with a real spirit of community who welcome sitters with kindness. They also kindly let me extend my stay for some time after the sit so I could explore the island. Abby, their loving, gentle and enthusiastic playful pup is just a joy, and will spoil any sitter for choice of material to share with her pet parents! Prepare to be lavished with licks and affection, and to repay in tummy rubs! Abby is happiest hanging out with her humans and Bro, her best friend and ginger cat brother. A very sweet natured pup, Abby has always had constant companionship. She loves adventures, trips in the car for walkies, local walks around the gorgeous neighbourhood, and chasing things - especially Bro, her cat brother. Their cat/ dog relationship is such is a joy to behold! These two never tire of chasing each other around, with Bro even joining in our morning and evening walks round the neighbourhood. If the play gets too boisterous, Bro will let you know with a squeak, but it’s never long before the chase is back on, as the pair utterly adore each other. Like most rescues, Bro is cautious of new people at first, so it feels like a real privilege when he comes to you for a stroke, head rub, or even a brush, but the affection must be on his terms. After a few days both Bro was happy to snuggle up in bed each night with Abby and I. Bro’s appetite knows no bounds, so I found it best to feed little and often to avoid him gorging himself. The cats were free to come and go as they chose via a cat-flap, and Larry, the older beautiful sleek black cat, would often tire of the continual games of chase with youngsters Abby and Bro. Larry often sought solace by doing his rounds visiting neighbours, or hanging out in the garden of Jen and Martin’s other house on the street, but would normally return eventually for dinner. Heartbreakingly, during my sit, Larry suddenly passed away, and I found him asleep in the garden, where we think he had just been bitten by a snake, as is unfortunately apparently common in Cyprus. Making the call to Jen and Martin to let them Larry had passed is genuinely one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do in my life, and every sitter’s darkest imaginable moment. Despite their shock and grief, Martin and Jen were very kind and supportive of me, and understanding that there was nothing which I could have done to prevent this tragedy. With the assistance of the loveliest neighbours in the world, Tony and Diane, we laid Larry to rest in the garden he loved. Upon Jen and Martin’s return we had a memorial for sweet, gentle Larry, and Jen took me out for a beautiful dinner. I’m very grateful for the time I got to spend with Abby, Bro, and Larry, and most of all my time with Jen and Martin, whose kindness and generosity knows no bounds, and now feel like family, after this very emotional sit for everyone. I really hope to return to Cyprus to see Jen & Martin and Abby and Bro soon.
This housesit was wonderful! Rob and Lindsey were welcoming and wonderful. Everything is explained in detail and also in writing in the Trusted Housesitters binder. The house is beautiful and comfortable, and the neighborhood is absolutely adorable. Although I initially was supposed to hang with their dog Hurley, they ended up taking him along and I took care of their house. It's summer and they had beautiful outdoor flowers and a cute little garden started that needed watering on a daily basis. I would sit here again in a heartbeat. Maybe next time with Hurley!
