Loved this sit, Jan and Graham were very easy to communicate with, before and during the sit. Their home is lovely with a beautiful garden approx 9 miles from Ross on Wye, where there are plenty of shops and supermarkets. Very well appointed kitchen, a comfortable bedroom, with wardrobe space and the bathroom shower is the best I've ever used. The furs are easy to care for, and very endearing. Bella the chihuahua loves a cuddle, and seemed to particularly like sitting on Kens shoulder. Freddie is a little darling often vieing for attention in various ways. And then there's the beautiful Honey, if you can resist those eyes you're doing well. They are all very well behaved in and around the home and on walks from the front gate up through the woods. That said Freddie does like to protect his girls should other dogs be around, (only by barking). The birds are easy to care for, water and seed daily and a weekly change of newspaper. Highly recommend this sit, and will be delighted to sit again.
Our four-week stay in Charlotte, NC was very enjoyable. Jarleth and Jim were very welcoming upon our arrival and even fixed us a very nice dinner on their grill, which we enjoyed on the back patio in their beautiful back yard (a lovely place to enjoy both mornings and evenings). Their colonial-style home is situated in a very upscale area of Charlotte where everything was beautifully landscaped and manicured. Jarleth had a house cleaner come by every other week as well as gardeners for the yard. Jarleth did an excellent job with preparing the owner’s manual detailing all the information we might need during our stay. Both Jarleth and Jim were low-key with no unusual expectations about their home or their pet cat, Jack. Jack, as we discovered, had his own well-regulated routine that he kept, which included “people time” where he wanted to be right next to us on the couch to get his rubs and petting. Overall, it was a great four weeks and we can give a hearty recommendation for Jarleth and Jim should they request another sitter.
WARNING to all Pet Sitters! Accepting this sit can put you in physical danger. What happened: I arrived on a Monday at 4 pm. Only Trevor, the one I have been communicating with was there. 40 minutes later his wife arrived. I noticed she was agitated and snappy. She said she is just very stressed. I could tell she had some mental health issues. We went out on the back porch to talk. She was talking obsessively. She informed me she was seeing a psychiatrist who informed her she was bipolar but she disagreed with his diagnosis and would not take the prescribed medication. She said he told her there is nothing more he can do for her and he fired her as a patient. This is important for me to relate this to you as it may explain what happened later. She also informed me she has high anxiety and takes meds for that but is in the ER (emergency room) a lot because of it. I slept there that night and the next day they were supposed to leave at 11am. That did not happen. I felt she didn’t really want to fly to another country for his family reunion as she announced at 11:20 she could not find her passport. Trevor found it for her. Then she said she was sick. At 12noon, something I said may have triggered something in her as she started yelling and screaming at me at the top of her lungs and telling me everything wrong with me. At first I stood in shock. We are both senior citizens. Then she went to lunge at me to physically attack me. Trevor stood in front of her to hold her back. I have never in my life been around physical violence. I quickly packed with Trevor holding her back and me asking God to get me out of here safely. With luggage in my hands, I walked out with her following me and Trevor trying to hold her back. Trevor is smaller than her and I was hoping she did not knock him down to get to me. She kept getting closer and closer as I packed my car with Trevor still holding her back. It took me 4 hours to drive there and 4 hours home shaking all the way. Of course I reported this to Trusted House Sitters. They asked if there was a police report. I said since Trevor held her back she did not get to me physically and yelling and screaming is not against the law. My goal was just to pack and get out of there safely. I was uncomfortable with the sit even before this happened. She asked me to do things not in the welcome manual. She wanted me to listen when one cat uses the litter box so I can go there and wipe the cat’s butt with a wet wipe. I was in shock. She then had Trevor demonstrate for me and said I should pull out any waste I may find in his butt. This cat was morbidly obese and I felt sorry for it. I asked her what the vet thought about his weight and she did not like that question. She said if a vet wants me to put him on a diet, I just fire them and get another vet. She also wanted me to open 6 cans of different wet can food for two cats in the morning. I thought she was kidding but she told me which 6 to open. She said to also make sure the cats also have dry food in the dish in the bedroom. She said to always spread cat treats on the bed as well. They have a camera they leave on in the bedroom to watch the cats they said. So in the morning the cats get 6 cans of wet cat food, always dry food and treats. There are only two cats in the household and one is 19. Then at lunch I am to take away all cat food not eaten because it would dry out and replace it with three or 4 cans of wet food. Then do the same thing at dinner. So you have several bowls of wet cat food around the clock. She then said you are not going to feed my cat because you think he is too fat. I said it is your cat and if this is what you want me to do as a pet sitter I will oblige by it. She just kept saying, you better feed him and send me pictures. When she did get hysterical with me she decided to vent her feelings towards all of sitters she has had from this site. Remember, I didn’t even start my sit yet as they never left the house. She said, all you sitters take advantage of me and want to do your own thing and sight see. You should only come here to watch the pets. Her entitlement was astonishing. For free we should take care of the animals, house and plants and never leave to explore the area. This experience has left me shaken. I am so glad I had my own car there and was able to leave quickly as she kept getting closer and closer. I feel they should be removed from the site for the safety of the community. If not, I wanted to let the community know my experience.
I loved everything about my pet sit for Cindy. Not only does she live in a stunning area and in a beautiful home, but her two kitties and her dog Zoe are really awesome. Zoe is the perfect balance of sweetness and energy and I adored my time with her. I feel the ideal pet sitter for her enjoys hiking, walking, being outdoors, and can tolerate all seasons. Zoe and I were a perfect match in this way as I love to hike and enjoyed exploring all the wonderful trails in Park City with her. She rides great in the car and is very obedient. She also loves to take walks in the neighborhood, fetch the ball, and play with her friends at the community dog park twice a day. Lastly, she loves to have morning belly rubs and will snuggle on the outdoor furniture with you while watching the sun go down. Kitties keep to themselves, but started warming up to us after a few days and enjoyed pets as well. They are really sweet too. Cindy was very communicative and always available for quick questions during our stay and I would be delighted and honored to return anytime.
Teri is a warm and welcoming lady living walking distance from Downtown Los Gatos. Her house has lovely amenities like a hot tub, fresh fruit in the yard, and of course the adorable doggies. She is a super joyful, reasonable host and I can't recommend her place enough. Both dogs are great and lovable. Love long walks with them, and Tucker is one of the most well-behaved puppies I've encountered. He is high energy and will want lots of attention, but is crate trained and can be penned up when I stepped out for a few hours. I had so much fun tossing toys and playing tug of war with him while Duchess the more elderly dog watched us. Felt like I was at a mini vacation myself, and would love to come back to sit for Teri again~
Great dog. Poppy is kind and affectionate and quickly adapted to us being with her. Lovely kind generous people. Wellington is beautiful but be ready for wind!
