Abi and Marcus, a massive thank you for allowing us the opportunity to love your house and pet family. Your home is breathtaking and we felt so at home and at peace in the surroundings you have created. Your home is very special indeed and words cannot really do it justice. I was in awe of your 'banquet room'. We spent our mornings in your wonderful kitchen, our afternoons wandering your garden, and evenings in the 'green room'. The weather was so very kind to us every day, allowing us the enjoy your pool and sunbathe in the enchanting walled garden. Mark was in his element to cut the grass in the orchard and make a path through the field for Marcus. He likes to tinker around and put his creative side to use. So happy you liked his restoration of your Grandma's lovely cat. Percy always wants to escape the garden, making a beeline for the exit. I decided to take him a long walk each morning down a country road only used by tractors. He loved sniffing and leaving his mark and made me chuckle how he has a little skip with his back legs sometimes. After an hour out, he seemed content to relax with us and followed me about everywhere. He loves to snuggle up on the sofa and go to sleep, but if you move, he is up instantly. Mouse is such a good mum to her kittens, even though she is really still a kitten herself. Those 5 beauties are enchanting with their little squeeks. Percy seems to delight in chasing the cats at every opportunity, but plays mum with the kitties all the time. The chickens tap on the door when they're hungry and waddle after you for their food - most amusing Kirklington is a fabulous quiet haven with a tremendous pub serving great food in a delightful atmosphere. They close Monday & Tuesday. Once open, you feel most welcome by the landlord and landlady. The locals chat away to you in the pub and if you meet them walking around the green. I felt so at peace I was happy to just sit and relax, with no real desire to go anywhere else. Such a quiet place, except for the planes overhead in the week. We did visit Thirsk, Bedale and Ripon which are all only a short drive away. As we did a shop on our way over for the sit, we did not need anything. There are no shops in Kirklington, but the places we visited had plenty of shops and supermarkets. This sit is idyllic situated in the countryside. If you like peace and tranquility this would be the sit for you. My idea of heaven.
We had an amazing time dog sitting for Gene and John! Willi and Bailey are the sweetest dogs ever, they complement each other with their personalities, Willi being more reserved and Bailey always up for a game of fetch with a tennis ball! I felt like we had known them for years (this goes for all of them—Willi, Bailey, Gene, and John!). The house is gorgeous and in a fascinating area with older homes. A car was helpful for getting into downtown Philly (so I can’t comment on the public transit) and driving in the other direction you get a lot of shops, restaurants and supermarkets. The dogs liked sleeping with us and tended to get up early (6am), do their business, eat breakfast, then jump back in bed for another hour (so I did the same). I felt a little bad leaving them to go downtown, but they obviously love each other to pieces and seemed fine even when we were gone 6hrs (Philly is a GREAT city—museums are super!). All in all, a wonderful housesitting experience, and I’m so glad we got the chance to visit Philly and meet John and Gene and their doggies! Thank you!!!
Emily and Andy were so welcoming, and Molly was such a delight to look after. We would recommend this house sit to anyone. Thank you for having us
We so much enjoyed our holiday house sit in Ashland! The house was spacious & clean, and very cheery with Christmas decorations – both inside & out! With large picture windows throughout the house, the distant hillside views from the upper-level kitchen window & dining area were spectacular – with quite a variety of birds constantly entertaining us – at eye-level - in the nearby trees. The house was located at the end of a cul-de-sac, just steps from an adjacent, easily walkable, wooded path that meandered through the neighborhood. That’s where we met “Sunny” the cat, as he was peeking at a large buck in the middle of the trail! Sunny was a very lovable cat, & easy to care for. He liked his outside wanderings, but also enjoyed evenings to curl up on the couch with us. He crunched on his food throughout the day, & enjoyed his treats before bedtime. The tree frog & snail were a delight to meet & easy to care for too – where we changed their water every other day & added chlorine drops; & fed the frog vitamin & calcium-coated, live crickets; & fed the snail (which we re-named “Bunny”) thinly sliced carrots! We initially met Lauren via zoom, & kept in touch via emails, sending pictures of her pets. Communication throughout the stay was excellent. Shopping was convenient, with a Safeway just a few minutes-drive down the hill, & just another few minutes to the wonderful shops in town. For other things to do: it was fun to wander the scenic woodlands through Lithia Park, attend a magnificent live performance at the Oregon Cabaret Theater, & visit the North Mountain Park & Nature Center – especially seeing so many wild birds up close at the feeding stations. We highly recommend this hilltop house sit, situated in a very friendly neighborhood!
Christy is a rockstar and has some adorable pets. She was phenomenal at communicating about Finn and Toma's individual needs and gave a thorough tour of the house so ibfekt comfortable. Finn is more of a homebody but does enough the casual stroll outside. Toma is very much on a mission to see the city. Christy recognizes this need for the kitties to explore so they have their own kitty door, are equipped with trackers/airtags and are incredibly independent. But they also like to come home and take daily naps to go out adventuring again. They will be your best friend if you keep the treat bag handy! Overall this was an excellent stay and I'd do it again in a heartbeat! I'm already missing Toma and Finn. ♥️
Marcus was very easy to communicate with and Baxter is a real charmer . Great location
