GREAT DOGS, GREAT HOUSE, GREAT SIT! To say this was one of our all time favorite house sits would be an understatement. The two pooches, Ivy and Jax, are just great! They are well behaved, very sociable, great on walks and love a good snuggle. The home, which is lovingly decorated, is extremely comfortable and located in a peaceful neighborhood close to all amenities. The owners, Kate and Skip, are super interesting, intelligent and very gracious. We were very welcomed by them both and felt like we had known them for years. You would be quite lucky to house and dog sit for them. Perfect!
This house sit was wonderful. John and Deloris were so kind and generous. I had a family emergency and they were so understanding. The cats were easy and very entertaining to watch with big personalities to match. The home was in a beautiful woodland setting and very clean. During our interview they must of taken notes because the refrigerator was well stocked with food, water, drinks and I was welcomed with wonderful gifts. Thank you again for a wonderful sit . I hoe to do this one again!
It was a pleasure to housesit for Malinda and Tim who were very welcoming and provided great instructions. The house was comfortable and I really loved the backyard privacy and Koi pond. Lowe loves to play fetch out back and Bailey loves to explore the backyard on a leash. Lowe just needs a few mins to get used to you but once she accepts you she is a well mannered sweet girl. Located in lovely Culpeper with easy access to shopping while still being in a quiet and well established neighborhood. Great experience and hope to come back for another house sit in the future.
We are very very greatful for Jane, George and dear Tominho for letting us look after their super nice house and garden! Jane made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. She took us for a walk in the lovely village to show us around and then for a drive to show us everything we might need in the nearest town (supermarkets...vet...etc.) she even invited us out for a coffee by the sea in Peniche which was a real treat! Tominho is the sweetest calm and friendly cat! He might just be very shy in the beginning but once he gets to know you, he is very affectionate and loving. Petting his abundant fur is like touching a cloud!! The house is located in a great place, up on a hill so you get such beautiful views and glorified sunsets! We were very comfortable there and had such a great time Thank you so much Jane, George and Tominho 🥰
As much as I would love every house sit to be five star experience from this five star Trusted Housesitter, this unfortunately was not the case. I believe Brenda to be a sweet and well meaning person who clearly adores her fur babies, however communicating clearly fell short in my opinion. Brenda asked me to arrive one day early to relieve her other dog sitter who provides services outside of THS and I was happy to accommodate. Upon arrival I saw five undisclosed live video cameras present inside and throughout the home, causing confusion and having to address it more than once was uncomfortable. Brenda agreed I could turn off or cover the cameras. However, one prominent unit on the cathedral ceiling could not be reached. It remained live and active, overseeing key areas of the house throughout the sit. I received the home guide the morning of the sit which was fairly straightforward. When I arrived there were numerous other notes and documentation spread out on the counter. One primary page seemed to be voice to text and was actually very confusing in addition to a binder built up from various time periods. However, no where in the guide or in our previous video/texting chats was the extensive nature of Pixies 'chronic' skin condition disclosed. The hand off sitter explained the format to follow including clothing, cones, additional skin wipes and sore conditioners to be applied. The medicinals and the chart to document doses, etc. In addition, I was instructed to introduce a prescription fungal medicine on the second day of my sit which sadly prompted an adverse reaction in the dog and the source of most discomfort especially in light of the vet visit being denied. This led to challenges in managing Pixie’s intense uncontrollable itching, constant scratching, biting at herself and gator rolling; It was further exacerbated in the absence of a quick acting remedy such as Benadryl or intermediate steroids. Whereas the reliance was solely on baking soda/salt baths which I dutifully complied with in conjunction of the head cone. It was frustrating that while waiting for the HO to respond the contacts provided were either unavailable or unable to provide feedback or assistance leaving me without any authorized resources. Despite these challenges, I never considered leaving but communicated my commitment to stay throughout the entirety of the sit. Though I believe Brenda was concerned as its never anyones intention to have an issue while away from home. Brenda mentioned prior to my arrival she had flexibility to take an earlier flight home on her final day, and solidified that decision the morning of her return. Though it was not necessary for her to head home early for me or the dogs as my desire was to receive proper local help at the height of the issue being in the middle of the sit. That being said, I welcomed Brenda’s return. The highlight absolutely go to Pixie and Sweetie! Both dogs were affectionate, sweet, quiet, meandering little love bugs. Very easy-going. Pixies eye care was routine and manageable given my prior experience with the breed and my own dogs identical eye impairment, which was discuss prior to confirming the sit. Both girls love to snuggle, relax and nap! These sweet little ladies added such a positive aspect to my time. It must be said that Sweetie can hold her own with the best I’ve ever heard in the ‘snoring’ department. The pups enjoyed the sunshine and little walks about the sidewalks and property which is tranquil and beautiful. Brenda has a large, fairly tidy, lived in, rural home. It’s about a 15 minute drive to a coffee or snack shop and the historic town of Dahlonega is about 30 minutes away. Dahlonega is well worth the drive for it has a variety of shops, galleries, and eateries. Brenda was thoughtful in providing several brochures of the area and offered the veggies growing in her hydroponic tower. The well water is magnificent. In summary, despite the sweet nature of the dogs and the tranquil landscape, the lack of disclosure regarding surveillance cameras and the severity of Pixie’s skin condition, coupled with written and oral communication deficits, this sit was less than ideal for me. I managed the situation with dedication and compassion however frustrating it was and left the home clean and the girls safe, loved and very well cared for. I personally do not see this as a fair exchange due to the amount of health care, medication, medicinal supplements and chronic conditions of Pixie, though I did enjoy their company greatly. Therefore, I would encourage future pet sitters to ensure clear and thorough communication and adequate preparation before accepting a similar opportunity.
What a wonderful sit in Brooklyn with Mildred and Albert! Leigh was incredibly easy to communicate with, and even though we did not overlap on the front end of the sit, she provided incredibly clear directions, and left a very clean apartment with notes that helped us orient ourselves. It was really sweet, and chatting was easy throughout the stay. Leigh’s home is unique, cozy, and very centrally located. We loved how colorful and green her space is. The cats totally stole the show. We fell in love with them. They’re very communicative when they want something, easy to care for, affectionate and Albert’s medication is a breeze. Would recommend this sit to anyone, though hoping I can be a regular ;)
