Being chosen for this house sit was such an honor. What Eli has done for the street dogs in Cemagi, Bali is remarkable and we were so fortunate to have the experience of caring for her wonderful pack. 7 dogs sounded like a handful BUT it was amazing how “in tune” this pack is with themselves. Each one has it’s own special personality: Bobby, the pack leader is quite serious but loves his cuddles. If you are a girl, Gipsy will follow you everywhere and I do mean EVERYWHERE :0) Jacky, the old fella, is such a trooper, with only 3 legs, this guy keeps up with his pack even with a cough and will want to sleep with you if there is a thunder storm but we adored him, so it was all good. Lou is inquisitive and loves finding packages of crackers in the offerings on the beach…she’s not a big fan of sharing those little treats either :0) Bule is the “old lady” of the group and will definitely want to sleep with you but always at the foot of the bed. Coco…is SMART and the cutest puppy we have ever met …. he is best buddies with Bubur who just wants to be included in everything. The cats are lovely. Chilly stops in for meals but then leaves as the dogs tend to chase her. Sambal and Matah are best friends and like to be around. Every evening when we were playing cards, Matah would position himself right on top of our game! Eli will provide you with a car to take all the pups to the beach for their morning and late afternoon walk. These walks are stunning as there was hardly anyone on the beach in the morning and only a handful of people in the afternoon. A scooter is provided as well. Once we got the hang of preparing the rice and raw meat for the dogs’ evening meals, it was very easy. The dog’s get fed in a particular order and all of them know their place in the pack except Coco, the puppy, who is still trying to figure it all out, it all quite funny. The cats get fed kibble whenever they are hungry and you will know this because they are very vocal when their tummies growl. Eli took the time to show us where all the important places were for replenishing jugs of water, eating cheap and very good local food, the grocery store, the vet in case of an emergency, of which we had none, and the alternative beach to walk the dogs in case the tide is too high at the first beach. The communication before and during the house sit was excellent. She let us know that there may be a bit of a delay in her response due to the difference in time zones so we were never “wondering" if she got our messages, she ALWAYS responded. Eli answered all our questions honestly so there were NO surprises. Her housekeeper and gardener are wonderful people and VERY knowledgeable about the area and taught us many things about Balinese culture. We consider both Ayu and Made our new Balinese friends and appreciate so much what they did to include us. If Eli chooses you to house sit …. KNOW this is NOT a vacation but it will probably be one of the most rewarding house sits you ever do. Also know that Eli WANTS to know if anything goes wrong, not only with the pups but also the home. We had a problem with the lights not coming on in the bathroom and she offered to send someone right away to fix the small problem. So, if something doesn’t work in the house, please let her know …. she is a very reasonable person. Eli, we are so grateful for the opportunity to be a small part of your life. Your home is beautiful and so is your family. Thanks for inviting us back again next year.
Boo is an absolutely delightful kitty. I loved staying with him. Hunter and Andrew have a beautiful, comfortable home in an amazing location. Communication was very good, despite the fact that my stay was during an incredibly busy time for them!
I had a wonderful stay at Jessica's beautiful home in Oxford, looking after Pepper. The location was stunning, and I was very lucky with the weather, which allowed me to spend lots of time in Jessica's lovely garden and explore Oxford in the sunshine. The University Parks, within walking distance, are incredibly beautiful, and Pepper loves being walked there. She is a bundle of wonderful positive joy, and I have made some great memories with her that I will never forget! Thanks for the stay :)
Sylvie had great communication and was kind and accommodating with my arrival date. We had a lot of whatsapp contact pre-arrival and also while she was away. There were a couple of forgotten instructions, but we have since talked about it and it is not problem. Her neighbours were also so friendly and went for a dog walk with me on my 2nd day to show me around the area, and then took me to a different town another day to show me the area. Mocky and Oriyus were very lovable. They both warmed to me immediately and both of them loved attention and being played with. Oriyus would sometimes get jealous if I was petting Mocky and whine at me because he wanted pets too! They're both very low maintenance animals which made it quite easy. Though I didn't have to walk Oriyus every day, I know he enjoyed the walks and the area was nice so I took him for short walks. I learned that a 1 hour walk was too exhausting for him. He is very big and strong on the lead and you have to be quite aware of the other animals in the houses nearby because they all bark at passersby and Oriyus would pull very hard and want to engage, but was obedient and didn't bark back and I was able to keep him near me with a tight lead and some strength. Overall I had an enjoyable stay. Merci Sylvie!
I had a wonderful time house-sitting for Kate. Bird is absolutely adorable with her little chirps when she comes home. The cottage was lovely and cool especially during the extremely hot weather! Kate and I had a few crossover days, and even though I'm socially awkward at the best of times- Kate was extremely approachable, kind, and gave wonderful advice. I was sad to leave and get back to the hustle and bustle of London life, I would happily sit again. And recommend it to anyone seeking a quiet break❤️
Kitty is a doll! So friendly & adorable & great company if you're working from home. I loved my stay at Nisrine's. Carroll Gardens is a bustling neighborhood with amazing food of every type & easy access to the Manhattan & other parts of Brooklyn. Great communication with Nisrine - very responsive with any questions or needs. Also, beautiful space with amazing decor - got some decorating ideas! And again, Kitty is so fun to be around. Very vocal and speaks up when she needs something - my kinda gal!
