Best sit ever! Nicola and Sam were incredibly accommodating and easygoing in the lead up to and throughout the sit. Upon arrival, they ran through all the details of the house and the pets needs which was detailed and easy to follow. Given that they have a beautiful home, I felt very fortunate to stay there and take care of things for them! All four pets were also really easy going and an absolute pleasure to look after. I 100% recommend this sit to anyone who has the chance to apply. Thanks so much Nicola and Sam!
Excellent home with well behaved dogs! It was a lot of fun for the whole family!
We loved our stay at James and Maddie’s home while taking care of their 8 month old puppy Vinny. Before arriving I was certain it would go really well since Maddie created very detailed welcome and home guides, and everything was exactly as she says. She is a great communicator and was open to texting or contacting her if need be, or just to send updates on how Vinny was doing. When we arrived at the home, to get acclimated before leaving Maddie and James showed us around, they were very gracious at allowing us to use their things. Vinny liked playing with his toys and being curious about whatever we were doing. We made sure to continue on with the commands that Vinny is learning, as he is still a puppy and figuring out his boundaries. Only a couple times he needed to calm him down and be reminded about listening well. Maddie and James instructed us to put him in his playpen for that and it seemed to work. The playpen is also where he stayed if we went out. Otherwise, Vinny always enjoyed going outside on walks, multiple times. He never got tired of going to the backyard or the front yard and around the neighborhood. He did a great job at letting us know when he needed to go out again, no accidents. But for the most part we took him out often anyway. He's very interested in other animals and knew they were coming down the street even before we could see them. We made sure to kneel down, hold on to his collar and stay by his side while watching any other dog pass by if he wouldn’t keep walking, but most times he followed the leash and a treat lead. One of the days we met the next door neighbor and her dog while outside. All in all, a nice walkable and slightly hilly neighborhood that provides a workout for any caretaker as well as for Vinny. Once in a while Vinny would stick his head in his basket of toys and find something to play with, wrestling with and shaking it around, he was having a great time entertaining himself and it was cute to watch. Otherwise he loved playing fetch and tug with any of us, gnawing on his bone was probably the second most favorite thing. Tired out from all the playing and walks, he took naps in front of the back door, on the rug or on his cot. Vinny ate his food and drank water without issue. He responded well to the wait command before he could eat his snacks/treats or go to the food bowl at the 2 meal times. My youngest daughter loved being the one to practice the commands with/for Vinny and he listened to her and obeyed every time. Of course human food is always more interesting, we didn't give him any, though whenever we were in the kitchen or upon hearing the slightest sound from the dishwasher, he came running. So cute. At night we lead Vinny to his crate for sleeping no problem. The first night he whined and cried a little, probably testing us, but finally went to sleep. He went right to sleep the other nights and slept through the night each night. We were especially appreciative to be in such a relaxing environment. The house is well appointed, everything has a place and is lovingly decorated, furnished and contains wonderful large plants to bring the outside in. Every room has a calm, welcoming and clean design. We particularly enjoyed the skylights and windows facing the pool/backyard which allowed plenty of daylight in; we didn't need to turn on the lights until evening. The guest rooms were spacious enough for 2 in each room, the beds especially comfortable and a guest bathroom between the two bedrooms was great. Being able to have full use of the kitchen, dining room, the rest of the house (except the master understandably) as well as the backyard patio, pool (didn’t go swimming though) and deck space was quite wonderful. Especially for a few beautiful Austin winter days when the temp was 75, then nice and cool in the evening to sit outside. The north Austin area is close by to explore, and Round Rock plus Georgetown are not that far either. Great for experiencing the small town main street vibe, shopping and plenty of dining. If mild winter weather, a comfortable aesthetically pleasing home that comes with a sweet and fun dog is what you are looking for, then this would be a great sit for you. I recommend this home/pet sit and would go again if we were asked.
