Alison was responsive and easy to communicate with, and overall, a very gentle person to deal with. We arrived as she was rushing to head out, throwing washing into the machine and attempting a quick tidy. Alison sped us through the basics before leaving us in her cozy home with beautiful Christmas decorations and a rather curious Maxi and Mischa. Maxi and Mischa are very easy going and friendly. They love being stroked, talked to, and given a good scratch, and are mostly happy to sit and be with you, versus wanting to play. In the evening and first thing in the morning they are a little more active, although Maxi is happier to move his paw than his body. He does love sitting on the window ledge looking out or going for a quick walk on the balcony. While they tolerate brushing, it is not their preferred experience and they do shed quite substantially, so be prepared for lots of long, soft cat hair on everything! Thankfully, there is a vacuum close at hand! Max also has a preferred way of using the litter tray in the bathroom, so tread carefully! The flat is petite and the space cozy, with a lovely balcony out the back which overlooks a beautiful rear garden. In the winter, the bedroom is very chilly and drafty – it seems there is no insulation, so we ended up sleeping under two duvets and a big blanket. If you are used to being in a warmer home, perhaps agree some compensation up front so that you are comfortable and the homeowner not out of pocket. A learning for me and hopefully advice for others. I used the oven once - to heat up croissants and it would not turn off. I contacted Alison immediately to see if there was a trick I had missed, as it was a simple turning knob. It seems it has happened before and from what I could read online, was due to a very common occurrence, a short on the electric board. Not a case of physical mishandling. But Alison was upset. The learning is to be sure to discuss what to do in the event of something happening, in advance. The house is a 11 or 13 minute walk from either Ealing Broadway or West Ealing, and the area feels very safe to walk at night. It is also close to several parks, as well as shops and restaurants.
Michel and Claudia have a beautiful home overlooking a little valley with a view of the Pyrenees. They are fabulous hosts (Claudia is friendly and interesting and Michel is quite a chef!). I thoroughly enjoyed caring for their sweet dog Joy. She is the absolute best dog on a leash, never pulling! And we had fun playing ball in the garden. The hens loved seeing me every morning - as long as I brought treats. And they left me some too 😉
Kristen and Jason were amazing host. They went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and appreciated. We had a wonderful time taking care of Bailey and Levi.
Had a lovely stay at Beth and Rob’s. Found the place clean and homey. Beth was warm and welcoming. Location is excellent - less than 15 mins bus to the city (bus stop is right outside!) and close to a great big park where I went for morning runs. The house had everything I needed (and loads of books!!) Sunlight seeps in the bedroom window and cats want to be feed around 7 am so it was ideal for an early riser like me. The cats were low fuss well behaved babies. George greeted me at the door and was charming throughout with the head rubs but it was Maisie who followed me around and didn’t leave my side. Please note she likes to inspect hooman food to give her approval so you must cooperate 😂 they don’t like to be lifted or get extra cuddly. Hooman must respect boundaries! All in all 10/10. Don’t hesitate to pick this sit.
We had a wonderful time housesitting for Jo. Her home is in the North Wessex Downs, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and is situated in a pretty and peaceful village. The house offers a beautiful way to relax, work and disconnect from busy life. Coco and Lullah are a very loving mother and daughter pair. They are well behaved, sociable and love walks. They also give the best cuddles. We enjoyed the idyllic walking routes and the dog friendly Jack Russell Inn and walk was definitely worth the visit. Jo was very welcoming and even showed us her daily walk. We highly recommend this house sit!
Alan and family were very welcoming to their beautiful home and we loved spending time with all the pets. Octavia warmed to us quickly and Renee was loving, friendly and always wanted a snuggle! Their home is also in a great location to visit many sights and close to many whiskey distilleries. We would definitely recommend this sit and would not hesitate to return.
