The best dog daycare/boarding we've ever used. Our dogs wake us up early in anticipation on days they're going and are tired for at least a whole day after. Never have to worry about safety or attentiveness.
Exceptional doggy daycare. Run by professionals. Very caring. Our dog both boarded many times and attended twice a week for almost two years. He was always eager to join the pack, running in and first getting his pets from the staff and then on to join the play. We always felt safe leaving him for boarding. Very caring staff going beyond what is expected to take care of dogs just the way owners hope. Definitely recommend to anyone who is considering putting their dog into a friendly, active, playful, safe environment.
my two dogs are in this daycare and love it there! they come home after a day of playing and having fun! The staff are caring and loving and we feel safe and in great hands. Thank you Canine Comfort for all you do!
Five stars is not enough. Our dog LOVES Canine Comfort. They're easy to communicate with and provide a wonderful service. The rules might seem overwhelming at first, but once you are in the pack, you'll understand why. It's such a well run organization and also one that treats each dog with love and each family respect.
Ellie and the entire Canine Comfort crew are a blessing. They go above and beyond for each and every dog in their care and I never worry about my pup when I drop her off. She comes home happy and tired from a day of fun and exercise with her friends. Each staff member is knowledgeable, friendly, and patient with any questions you have - and are always willing to take the extra step to make you and your beloved pup feel comfortable. I'm so impressed by the level of professionalism and genuine kindness I've experienced, and would highly recommend Ellie and the entire staff at Canine Comfort to anyone looking for a safe and loving dog daycare and boarding service.
We have been taking our dog to Canine Comfort for over 4 years now and she loves it. She gets so excited when we pull into the parking lot. They have a large outdoor & indoor area for the dogs to run around including a pool in the summer and obstacle courses outside. The dogs are able to roam from inside to outside as they see feet. When we pick her up at night I know she's had a great day playing with her friends and the staff because she's excited but also exhausted. The staff are fantastic, they genuinely care about the dogs and love what they do!!! They provide boarding but only for the dogs that attend daycare. I feel comfortable leaving my dog with them if I have to go away for a night or weekend because she knows the staff and the dogs that will be there.
This was hands down the best dog daycare in all of Ithaca, NY. The owner and employees were not only incredibly friendly but they were responsive and flexible with every single request I had, even when I made mistakes and slept in past the allowed “drop off time”. There was an in depth “interview” for you and your dog and it was all worth while. It ensured that the dogs that were part of the group would all get along and that the owners were responsible adults that could pick up and drop of their dogs at an appropriate time. Every time my dog, Piper, left this daycare facility she was so exhausted but also well taken care of. She would sleep all evening the day after daycare and the next day. Their rates were less than every other place in town and they accepted a number of different payment methods. I would recommend this place to anyone that lives nearby and hope you take your dog to these friendly workers.
Canine Comfort is a very organized and safe place for dogs to interact and play.
All of us local pet parents can relax and find our own comfort and ease when we drop Fido or Feebie off at Canine Comfort. The doggie day care and boarding center is well staffed with knowledgeable, and attentive employees. My positive experience began after I had reached out to the center with one or two questions regarding price, services, and breeds accepted. I was able to speak directly with the owner, Ellie who made herself available to me with all of my additional questions. We had an excellent conversation that created a foundation for the kind of relationship I am looking for in a daycare provider. Ellie and her staff continuously provide the personalized care I seek and expect for my dogs, which in turn provides me with peace of mind. It matters, thanks Canine Comfort!
My boxer and yellow lab have been coming here for years, not just for doggie day care, but also for boarding. I can tell you that it's a wonderful place, where the dogs are loved and pampered. Ellie and her "pack" are just amazing with our babies. I highly recommended.
My family and I love Almost Home, but more importantly, our dog never wants to leave when we pick her up! The care that Susan and Lee give to the dogs and their owners is amazing, from reservation to pick up. Their reception area is clean, cozy, and full of dog toys. The first time we took Rosie there, Lee took her out to play and Rosie was instantly comfortable with him, and with Susan as well. The dog's rooms are great - functional yet comfortable, and our dog loves the indoor-outdoor run. Our lab puppy is a bit boisterous, so they made sure that when she played with other dogs, she only played with dogs that matched her energy level. The dogs' safety is clearly their top priority. They have convenient pick up and drop off hours, and sometimes they even send pictures while we're away. From start to finish, Almost Home provides a wonderful dog boarding experience. Highly recommended!!
I have left my 2 dogs at Almost Home for the last 3 years. Both are anxious dogs (as is this owner when I have to be away from them). Susan is welcoming and obviously loves dogs and taking care of them. The place is clean and isn't like a kennel, it's like rooms for dogs. When I ask for the pups not to be out with other dogs, she makes sure this is what happens. I can trust the dogs are safe and happy.
We love Almost Home! We have been sending our dog Lucy to Almost Home for over 4 years and have had nothing but positive experiences. I would highly recommend lee and Susan to anyone looking for dog boarding. A very clean, friendly environment, rooms and not cages. Lee and Susan go the extra mile for each dog. They know and understand Lucy and all her quirky habits and Lucy makes herself right at home. Lucy never comes home freaked out from being boarded and to me that is a great testament to the care she receives at Almost Home. Susan has even sent pictures when I was missing Lucy! It truly is Almost Home for my dog!
I would recommend using almost home to anyone, including those to who have never boarded their pet. This was our first time leaving our dog for an entire week. They made sure she was comfortable and felt right at home. Their facilities were really clean and each dog had an individual room. They even sent me pictures of Luna while I was away! Luna didn’t even want to come home with us when it was time to pick her up!! Luna rates Almost Home five stars as well :) we’ll definitely use them in the future!
We feel so lucky to be able to get away knowing our dog is so well cared for. We fortunately found Almost Home years ago and we have had outstanding experiences through the years. Our dog is obviously exceedingly well cared for while he is there. Susan and Lee know their dogs so well and really set all of their pets up for successful, adapting little detaisl to meet every pets needs- getting lots of outside time and socializing time. It is impressive how tuned in they are to their animals and the great environment they provide for their boarders. We feel so lucky to have them.
We have had many dogs over the years and have always felt uncomfortable leaving them when my wife and I traveled. We have had experience with many kennels and even dog sitting people. Over the last 7-8 years we have been boarding our dogs exclusively at Almost Home Dog Boarding. Our dogs have never seemed traumatized in any way when we pick them up. The discomfort of missing our dog for the period of time we are away is softened by the knowledge of how comfortable and happy our dog is at Almost Home. It is not just the physical differences from other kennels, it is the warmth and caring that Susan and Lee display every time without fail. If you love your dog, we highly recommend that you board them at Almost Home Dog Boarding.
I have been using Almost Home to board my dogs for 3 1/2 years. I have two large German Shepherds. I checked out every other boarding facility in the area and none of them are as nice as Almost Home. I especially like the fact that the dogs can be inside and go out the doggy door and see each other outside. Also the floors are heated and the room is not a cinderblock cubicle it looks like a kids room. Nice touch. The dogs are also given play time outside each day and that is important. The most important thing for me when I am traveling is knowing my pups are safe and when I leave them off with Susan and Lee I know they are safe and in very good hands. My pups are truly Almost Home.
Almost Home exceeded our expectations! We left our dog, Milo, here for a little less than a week as we traveled to a friend's wedding. The owners, Susan and Lee, were very helpful and quick to respond to my emails. They seemed genuinely interested in Milo so that they could give him a good experience. During our trip, we received several updates and pictures, which helped put our minds at ease, since it was the first time boarding our pooch. When a line of storms prevented us from flying home and made us a day late to pick up our dog, Almost Home was very accommodating, and set up an alternate pick-up time. No hassle whatsoever. Wonderful service for a price that didn't break the bank. We'll definitely bring Milo back whenever we need to go out of town again!
We have been taking our dogs to stay at Almost Home for over 7 years. Lee and Susan have taken care of our elderly golden retriever, Tess, our difficult rescue, Merrilee, and our highly active rescue, Finny. Each dog required a different touch and amount of care. Regardless of their individual needs and personalities, we are confident that they each had their needs met and had a special time while they could not be with us. Susan and Lee get that these dogs are our children and treat them with the care and love they deserve. I can't imagine bringing my dogs to any other place. Almost Home isn't a kennel, it's as good as home for our pets.
We've come to learn that it is us, not our dog, that feels bad when we leave him at Almost Home. He loves it there and is treated like a part of Susan and Lee's family. I highly recommend boarding your dog here. You won't have to worry one bit while you are away because your pet will receive excellent care!
We love Malcolm and Mutts, it’s become a second home for our play-all-day border collie. Aaron and Kaylee treat her like one of the family, and she’s always tuckered out after her stays here. Highly recommend!
My dachshund Matilda has been staying with Malcolm and Mutts for two years now. She is a pandemic puppy so this has really helped with her socialization and bringing her out of her shell! She’s always very relaxed and tired when she gets home 😀 …
Went on vacation for a week and left Sadie at Malcolm & Mutts. Thought is would be a great experience for her. She'd be taken care of and get some training while we were gone. Literally the exact opposite is what I received. I received a broken puppy back; she was lethargic, emaciated, and scared. Sadie had diarrhea, which she has NEVER had before, just like she's never shed the way she is currently. When asked where there any issues I was told she was sick once but recovered quickly after a bland diet. I sent the food and treats she needed for the week and when I picked her up I received the dry food back. Still trying to figure out what happened to my dog but every time I asked I would receive a response that he'd then try to walk back when questioned more about it. Sadie has been on a raw diet her whole life, she's never had diarrhea, never had her coat falling out and never been afraid to go outside. I still have to drag her outside to use the bathroom. She looks and is acting like she was starved. Pictures don't lie, and if you look at the two I'm posting you can clearly see what Sadie looked like before we left versus what she looked like after her week at Malcolm & mutts. I don't recommend.
I think they have good intentions, but it's so disappointing. I used them for a while for my dog..every time he came home he smelled like poop/pee(they don't let you see the inside). I didn't have any other options, so I continued and would just tell my self it's from all the fun. I would pay the extra money for training to be done, I never got a detailed thing at the end of the day so who knows if it ever got done. Sometimes he would come home with scratches. One day he came home a gash in his ear (would post the pic but it's gory). That was my last straw, I messages the owners and got a what felt like a copy and paste response... The owners seem great, but it seems they've lost the spark they had with having the day care.
We've been using Malcolm & Mutts for about a month now for dog walking, doggy daycare, and dog boarding. I love the extra things I can book like a bath, pick up and dropoff, and training! Our pit bull Bruce is still a bit of a puppy but has calmed down after starting daycare and getting so much playtime! Aaron and Kaylee have taken great care of him and helped out with his training which has been a huge relief!
We used Malcolm and Mutts back in August for regular dog daycare twice a week. Our dog had successfully completed a trial day a few months back and we thought it would be good for her to play with dogs during the day rather than being at home alone while we went to work. The first couple of times we dropped her off, she seemed more hesitant and nervous than usual. When we picked her up, she seemed overly relieved, whining and jumping. She has been to another dog daycare before, and we hadn't experienced these behaviors from her previously. We chalked it up to our dog being nervous in a new environment, as we recognize our dog can be a bit hyper-sensitive. Fast-forward a couple of weeks and my boyfriend takes our dog to drop her off for the day at Malcolm & Mutts, she becomes so nervous that she jumps the fence and goes running down the street. My boyfriend chases after her and once he's finally able to catch her, he walks her back to the car and just left with our dog. We never asked for our money back (as we paid for a multi-day package and had a few unused days left) and they didn't contact us to apologize, follow-up, or anything. We have taken our dog back to the original daycare and she has not expressed this nervous/anxious behavior. I'm not sure what happened at Malcolm & Mutts that made our dog so nervous, but each time I picked her up and asked how she did during the day I only received positive feedback.
I dropped off my pup Sparkles for a daycare assessment and he came back happy. Aaron was so friendly, and answered all my questions. He also took the time to listen to and address my questions and concerns. Malcolm and Mutts came highly recommended by many friends and I definitely got a great vibe from Aaron. I just signed up for daycare with them and I can’t wait for my dog to go have a blast there with his new doggo friends.
Our little dog LOVES his day care days! We feel good about the care he gets when he goes to play with his friends each week. When we went away recently we boarded him at Malcolm and Mutts and he did really well there which was a big relief to us. We're glad to have found a place we trust and that our boy enjoys so much!
I used Malcolm & Mutts for daycare and boarding for over a year. Since starting daycare there, I have seen a drastic difference in Leo's socialization skills; he is much more confident and comfortable playing with other dogs. If we were still living in the area, he would still be a regular. I recommend them!
Would not recommend. Last summer, after a week of boarding with Malcom and Mutts, our dog came back home with diarrhea and was SO SKINNY. After asking Aaron if our dog had been acting strange/not eating, he shared that there was a "stomach bug" going around the dogs at M&M and that many dogs had required medicine from their vet. Isn't this something you would tell us immediately at pick up? Not when inquiring 2 days later?! Meanwhile, the huge bag of dog food (and scoop) that I had left, was gone. The bag was brand new and there should have been quite a bit left over. I would NEVER take my dogs here. We since then have found other options and are much happier - now we don't have to worry if/when we go away and can't take the pups with us. Phew!
