This is a perfect sit for cat lovers who want to escape to a cozy little house on tranquil Lopez Island. Janice was a pleasure to sit for. She loves her cats dearly, and is a very thorough communicator on how to best care for them. She went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable, and even got a new TV. Theo is the sweetest boy, and we loved our evening couch cuddles with him. Buttercup is full of energy and curiosity when not resting in his closet “hiding place.” Ole, the old boy, is very mellow and chill, but will let you know when he’s ready for his next treat. As expected, the cats shed and track some litter out of the bathroom, but we vacuumed regularly, which kept the small space clean. We also used the air filter Janice supplied, since the home is near the ocean and could smell a touch damp at times. The house is cozy and nestled amidst trees on the south end of the island. We greatly enjoyed our walks and the friendly locals. The WiFi worked well enough for us both to work remotely, though we couldn’t both use our camera when on calls at the same time. There is lots to do on the island — beaches, nature walks, the farmers market (when in season), and a small collection of great restaurants in Lopez Village, including the James Beard nominee Ursa Minor. The island is quiet — split between “part timers” with vacation homes and “full timers” who make up the close knit community on the island. We loved making our rounds to all the farm stands on the island each week. Overall, we really enjoyed our time in Janice’s home with Theo, Buttercup, and Ole, and would recommend this sit to fellow cat lovers.
Tracey made us feel very welcome and was flexible on what days we arrived/departed (we chose to stay an extra night after she returned). The two dogs, Douglas and Rosie, were very friendly and a delight to look after. They were easy to take on walks and neighbourhood was lovely and safe. They adapted to us quickly and seemed affectionate, happy and well adjusted dogs with two unique personalities. Rosie was the more laid back and cuddly while Douglas never ceased to entertain us! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
Rosemary and Graham are lovely hosts. They kindly invited me to dinner the evening before my pet sit. They made me feel very welcome in their home and left clear instructions for my stay. Their comfortable home is set in a great coastal location, a five minute walk from the beach, next to a tranquil nature reserve. With easy access to lots of lovely walks from their doorstep and close to stunning south Devon beaches. Misty is a lovely mature cat who loves her routine and is very easy to care for. She was a pleasure to stay with. Paul also stayed for some of this sit and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this idyllic location. I would absolutely recommend staying if you’re lucky enough to get the opportunity. We wouldn’t hesitate to return!
Magpie is such an easy cat to care for and very cuddly! He’s great company at home because he just wants to be near you. Marissa is also great at communication and a lovely person! Her house is wonderful and I personally love the interior design! It’s at a central location in Amsterdam and easily accessible by public transport as well. I would love to look after Magpie again in the future and would recommend a sit here!
We really enjoyed our stay at Georgina’s. Georgina’s home is at the edge of the village with a pretty garden, lots of countryside around and some lovely walks with plenty of woodland. The house is warm, comfortable and quiet with everything that we needed. There was lots of space and the master bedroom has an ensuite with lovely views and a very comfortable Queen size bed. The bathrooms were lovely and clean as well as the bedrooms and lounge. There is a village shop/cafe for essentials and some local produce plus coffee, sandwiches and cake. There is also a pub in the village and a supermarket 10 minutes drive away. Georgina provided some useful information in the Welcome Guide about where things were located in the house and directions for local walks. Georgina was contactable all of the time and happy for me to call or text. The chickens are a small, pretty breed and easy to care for. The eggs are lovely. Darwin and Tabs the cats are very friendly, like cuddles and don’t have a cat flap so it is important to make sure they are let outside. They are allowed on all surfaces, including the dining table. The dogs are very friendly and love lots of cuddles. Crumble is an old lady but still happy to come on long walks. Po is a very caring lab with a lovely nature, pulls quite a lot on the lead but does recognize some commands. Harris is a very enthusiastic and friendly border terrier who is Po’s ‘wing man’ on walks, especially when sniffing out rabbits and birds : ). The dogs need to be kept on a lead when near a road as Crumble’s eyesight and hearing is not so good anymore and Harris runs at everyone and everything excitedly, including cars! All in all, we enjoyed our stay and would love to be invited back to house sit again. The only things we would have changed are a more comprehensive Welcome Guide and a clean fridge, oven and grill.
Looking after Mousse and Miel has been an absolute pleasure, and Jessica and Amy are wonderful hosts: thoughtful and well organised with great communication, and everything went really smoothly. Mousse and Miel are so adorable and easy to look after. We had lots of cuddles, and played with their toys, the wand in particular where they love to vie for attention. The rest of the time they love to just relax and snooze, leaving you free to go explore this beautiful city. The apartment is situated in a lovely residential area with lots of shops and a park nearby, and excellent public transport that will take you into the city centre, or indeed the countryside, in under half an hour each. I enjoyed every single minute of my stay and would highly recommend a sit to anyone who is interested in visiting Paris and spending quality time with these two gorgeous cats.
