Demelsa, Kadyn, and Victoria have a good life! They live at the end of a private road and the dogs give themselves as much exercise as they need behind their electric fence— so there’s no need to get them out for a walk. They eat healthier than most people— David pre-cooks Healthy vegetables that go on their kibble.  David is a wonderful cook and I enjoyed three meals with them just because of the timing of my travel and my airline flights. David and Karen are very friendly and helpful.
Although the dogs are young and energetic, they do follow commands and are easy to kennel up for the night. Victoria the cat is very mellow and sometimes entertaining. Occasionally she will displace one of the dogs from their kennel because she wants to be in there!
The downstairs basement where I stayed is spacious and clean. I was here during late October / early November so I got out walking frequently through the town of Castine and on the local trail just to be sure I got enough sunshine! During this time of year most of the businesses are closed. The closest grocery store is about a 25 minute drive.
What a fantastic sit - it really couldn’t have been a better experience from our perspective. Hector and Morgan were a real delight to look after and the hardest part of the sit was leaving them at the end. Though they needed some medication and supplements this was no problem at all as Katie left such clear and easy to follow instructions for their care. We were made to feel so welcome in Katie and Paul’s lovely home. Katie was incredibly friendly and helpful throughout. The welcome manual gave all the information we could have possibly wanted to make the sit comfortable and enjoyable. Katie also invited us to come over beforehand and showed us around the home and introduced us to the cats (as well as their lovely dogs who on this occasion were going on holiday with them). This sit was our first US based and really got us off to a fantastic start. Thank you Katie and Paul for trusting us with your home and allowing us to share in the wonderful company of Hector and Morgan.
We had a great time taking care of Whiskey and Duo! The cats warmed up very quickly and loved cuddling on the sofa! Olivia was very easygoing and gave clear instructions and she also left us some lovely truffles and wine. The apartment is roomy and clean and located near everything you might need in Santa Monica. When we weren't hanging out with the cats, we enjoyed walks on the beach, local shopping, and nice meals at nearby restaurants. As a bonus, it was very easy to find street parking for our rental car.
I had the best time sitting for Dawn. Her pets were very lovable and made great companions for my trip. Maple was a joy to bring along on adventures but was also content enjoying some time at home when I needed to work. Both cats were very cuddly and maintained themselves for the most part. The location of the home felt incredibly self and they were super accommodating! They let me borrow some for their gear and shared immense recommendations for what to do locally. Their communication was great and the few times I needed something, Dawn was available. When I arrived, Dawn took me through an in-depth tour, making sure I knew everything I needed to know. The welcome guide was complete and had all the information I needed. This was the perfect first sit for me!
What a wonderful time I had getting to know Nancy and her sweet dogs. She lives in a really nice suburb and lots of places to walk the dogs and close to a park that we frequented every day. The dogs are elderly and they like to lay around a lot but they also love going on walks, especially Charles. Echo was so funny because at the end of the trip, she knew the routine and she didn’t want to go on the second journey. She would want to go back home after about 10 minutes, so I would take her home and leave her there and Charles and I would go out for about another 45 minutes. They were such sweet dogs and so easy to take care of. I had a couple days in between sits and Nancy let me stay at her house and she is the sweetest individual EVER! She took me to watch the Super Bowl at the Biltmore which was such a treat. We shopped, she took me to my next house sit and she totally went above and beyond. She even ordered in green chef for me while I was taking care of the dogs. Does it get any better than that? Anyone would have a nice time and a pretty relaxing time housesitting at her home. I would highly recommend meeting Nancy and her dogs. What a lovely experience, a lovely woman, great dogs and a very happy housesitter. I thank you, Nancy!
Briana was very communicative and supportive with her pets' needs and making sure everything was going well, and is a kind and gracious person. Oliver is a warm and playful furball that loves being loved on! Ella is much more reserved, and as Briana predicted, needs about a week to open up. I was fortunate she started opening up before that as I was packing. The location is quite quiet, warm, and safe. An amazing experience that reminded me how much I miss having a cat around all the time! I will miss them very much. Thank you, Briana, for reminding me of that!
