What a great experience. Sonja and Denver are a nice couple, easygoing and generous, and their house is huge. Although they were very busy to organize their stuff for a three weeks camping tour to Namibia, they welcomed me the day before with a nice dinner. My wife Tina joined me for two weeks in her Christmas holidays and we enjoyed the time in the garden and the big pool. It's a very safe part of the town and we walked to the shops and restaurants at Rivonia village and to the Gilroy's micro brewery, that you should not miss. Not far away is also a stop for the Gautrain bus, which took us to Sandton center with the Nelson Mandela square and the Gautrain station. Payment works with credit card. The bus only runs on bank working days, but a Uber is always nearby and not very expensive (cash payment). Most of the days we stayed in the house with the cats, but there was also enough opportunity to explore the city and do a one day Safari to Pilanesberg. Mushkin and Pushkin were trusting from the very first moment, Ms Rossi needed two days. Then all came regularly for cuddles. Unfortunately one of them showed bad feelings by leaving a poo in the house. But that did not happen often and was quickly cleaned. The only problem was the alarm system. I needed a few days to find the right adjustment to prevent calls from the security company every night. Maybe this was caused by the cats running through the house on night time. All in all we enjoyed our time very much and can absolutely recommend this opportunity.
### Location: The house is close to Ore. Ore is on a hill, so it's a little tiring to walk back from old town and markets. ### Apartment: It's a delight! Abra and Gary have a great sense of decorating their house. They prepared everything I needed. The cleaning machine and dishwasher were very helpful! ### Host: They are incredibly kind. Gary showed me around the town and they also shared their food with me and cooked for me. They have a very detailed welcome book that has everything you need. ### Pets: Lollie is a very sweet girl. I really enjoyed her company during the 10 days. She is smart; she knows the direction. She stays close to you. She can be unleashed; she walks a short distance ahead of you, but will come back immediately when you called. She is very clean; she avoids mud and dirty stuff. She gets anxious at home if a stranger comes to the house, but she is very friendly outdoors. Love her! ### Kitty & Bertie: Kitty is a pretty and adorable girl. She comes to me and asks for petting. She always acts cute. Bertie is a cool boy. We didn't have too much interaction, but he comes to me when he's hungry :P ### Hastings: Hastings is a tranquil place. Also, you can walk alone the beach, exploring other towns.
Jasper and Pippa were so very adorable and also cuddly. Absolutely my favourite type of cats! Jasper is a vocal kitty but you get a bit used to it. The home is lovely and in a nice area and Ryan and Sheena obviously love their pets very much!
Deepa was wonderful to communicate with before and during the sit. She answered any questions quickly and kindly and made working with her a joy. We navigated last minute changes seamlessly. She has a lovely, super clean home with all the amenities surrounded by tall trees in a park-like setting. She has things very well organized (food & litter tray delivery, etc) to care for all of the pets easily. The cats are very sweet and good natured which made caring for them a delight. They like playing with their feathered toys and love their “greenies” i.e. cat treats. The dogs love to play fetch and wrestle with each other. Lylah has a very sweet temperament. Austin is adorable and walks well on a leash. We had several fun outings at the river front park where he did a great job walking along side of me. The bed is very comfortable and the kitchen is a great space to cook. The back deck is a wonderful place to enjoy breakfast, listen to the birds and spend time relaxing. There are numerous parks, restaurants, and places to explore nearby. You can tell that the pets are adored by their owners and overall this was a wonderful sit.
It was a pleasure taking care of Susan's beautiful home and delightful pets in a lovely neighborhood. Their care was very easy and Susan and her family were very kind and gracious. Frequent communication was very helpful. Storm could remain out of doors in the yard for long periods so time away from the house was not restricted during the day. Storm was very gentle and well-mannered and was happy to remain in the house with me while I was there. The cats' litter box was automatic so required no maintenance on my part during my week's stay. This was my first sit requiring a plane trip and Susan was very accommodating with the schedule.
I loved my stay here. Nicola and Oliver were very friendly and welcoming. All the animals are lovely in nature and very friendly, even the chickens will follow you. I loved being able to go from beautiful walks with two very enthusiastic companions straight from the house. If you stay, you will get lots of love from Grace, Lily and the cats. The views from the house took my breath away each day. Highly recommended.
