HOME FARM, Cotswolds. September 2021 This is a fabulous house and pet-sit; one of the very finest and loveliest. Emma and Mike along with their family and friends are the kindest, warmest and most generous people you could wish to meet. They are the perfect hosts in every way and their stunning home and gorgeous animals are the ultimate five star THS experience, you will be super blessed if you secure this house and pet sit. The night before the families departure Emma kindly met and picked me up from Oxford train station, prepared a delicious evening meal where I met her husband the lovely and fun Mike, one of her three polite children and her wonderful, fascinating and very sharp 90 year old Father, who lives on site in a spectacularly converted barn and whose company I was utterly privileged to steal a little time with during my stay. Mike is in construction and Emma is an interior designer. Their lovingly renovated classic Cotswold stone farm Cotswold home showcases their incredible talent. From the sensitively refurbished original features of the farm, stables and outbuildings to the expansive landscaped gardens with a pond, small orchard and raised vegetable and herb beds to the deliciously warm outdoor swimming pool and toasty hot, natural cedar tub gives a truly five star ‘spa-like’ experience. I was given the entire top floor of the farm house with a huge comfy double bed, an en-suite with a huge cast iron roll top bath and expansive views from all aspects of the property across the gardens and countryside. The home has a fully-equipped, farm house style kitchen, with a beautiful Range, Nespresso and French Press coffee makers, dishwasher, everything that depicts a home that is used to entertaining and welcoming family and friends. I was able to work from the very amply equipped ‘gym’ where a desk facing the stunning garden meant I could have Bertie and Gus’ the dogs lovely close company all day. Emma’s sister prepared a great OS walking map with strategically marked up walks with riverside pubs that meant I was able to explore some stunning ‘dog safe’ walks with refreshments stops along the way making for a truly lovely experience. The pictures really don't do the property or the surrounding countryside and landscape justice! Bertie their stunning Weimerhama and Gus, the most handsome Cocker are two of the most affectionate, intelligent and faithfully doting dogs I have ever looked after. They quickly adapted to my being their ‘new person’ and I loved having them follow me all over the house and grounds. Bertie has a little bit of a hard time containing his enthusiasm when it comes to walks or when you return to the house if you go out, but his expressive affection is tempered with his intelligence and ability to learn. He responds very well to a strong firm lead and has prefect recall, which means that this high energy breed can wear himself out pretty readily running back and forth along our long walks! Gus, a little more polite in his communication walks very well to heel and is innately patient whilst Bertie always demands his fill of affection and attention first. They are the most friendly dogs you could wish for and will look out for you if anyone, such as delivery drivers, wander onto the property. Isla the cat, as with most cats, took her time to come to me, but once she gained her trust would happily curl up with me in the evenings, not sparing her affection in any way, she is a striking sweet smart lady, and doesn’t let the ‘boys’ outsmart her no matter their size! You can tell a lot about the people around the periphery of a house sit and everyone I met bore testament to a really lovely and special set of hosts. Emma’s work colleague Sophie (their home office is on site) was a sparkle of fun and light, and her friends who were looking after her horses were so friendly, joyfully shouting a hello twice a day and never failing to ask if I was in need of anything at all. George, their adorable bubbly housekeeper who was SO kind and helpful and instrumental in helping me find my way around the home and home life routine was just the best bonus to have around too. I could go on and on with positive feedback but I think you get the gist! I simply cannot thank Emma and Mike enough for an incredible experience. I fully recommend this house-sit to anyone who is lucky enough to take up this wonderful opportunity to be part of something VERY special, my only complaint is that it was all over far too soon.
Marlo is an absolute sweetheart, we enjoyed his relaxed, calm company and the cuddles. He is extremely easy to look after. Alan & Helen's house is clean, spacious and light, quiet with a beautiful garden ... we had hanging and drawer space in our very comfortable bedroom and space for our food in the fridge and freezer. In our experience so far that is not the usual case in a lot of 'sits'. The area itself has a lot to offer, lovely local pub in walking distance and National Trust properties within an easy drive. We'd be very pleased to look after Marlo again sometime.
This was a lovely young couple to sit for! Easy to communicate with, generous and low key. The two large pups were a lot fun and the little one, Sadie the cocker spaniel was gentle and sweet. The two white husky's are gorgeous and eager to please and learn. Smokey the bird..well..he's just is a talker which was very interesting and funny to listen to him. There were also two kitties that were loving and gentle. Everyone got along and the week went great. The house is modern, clean and conveniently located. Everything you need is either there in the house or around the community. Internet and Lots of TV channels too! I would definitely recommend this sit and would definitely sit for them anytime I was in that area. Thank you.
As someone who's participated in several sits, this sit in particular is a real gem, and one of my top sits ever! The location is perfect, the house is gorgeous, Kathy and Edward are super welcoming, helpful, and generous, and Isadora is the sweetest lady you'll ever get to care for! She's incredibly affection and easy to take care of (prepare for lots of lap naps!), and after a month it was hard to leave her. Salzburg is a wonderful city (one of my personal top favorites) and staying at Kathy and Ed's place made it all the more memorable. I hope to get the opportunity to sit for Isadora again!
We loved our stay here! Devin and Jae were amazing, quick responses and super friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again, there house was so comfy and had everything we needed. Mama and Buddy were the cutest, we were very sad to leave them. Highly recommended house sitting for Devin and Jae! 5 stars all around
Maggie is such a sweet girl. I loved playing fetch with her and then watching her splash around in her kiddie pool after. The house is super nice with a great backyard setup. The neighborhood is a clean newer development near the golf course so I enjoyed walking with Maggie along there. Thank you Mike and Candi! Would love to sit for you again.
