We had such an amazing time at this housesit and would happily return. Kerry and Geoff are wonderful, relaxed hosts, plus very cool people in general. Their home is secluded, cozy, spacious, clean, and classy without feeling like you have to tiptoe everywhere. Very comfortable. The landscaping around it is to die for, and we spent many a contented hour on the indoor sun porch overlooking the pond. Sweet kitty Willow is one of the most independent cats we've met, but that's not to say she's unfriendly – quite the opposite! On warm days she'll be happy to hang out with you outdoors; otherwise, she comes around to gently let you know when she's hungry or have an indoor snooze. We discovered that frequent plays with a piece of string or floppy branch seems to be the key to her heart--she still has lots of kitten spirit! Outside, you'll only hear birds and the occasional play of toddlers at a nearby tiny school, and you won't see any neighbors. It's quite an oasis! There are LOADS of amazing footpaths at their doorstep, which is also nice because public transport isn't great in the area. The train station is about a 2.3 mile walk, and bicycling isn't quite safe due to the roads. There are a couple adorable pubs within easy walking distance, though. We ended up renting a car to explore the area a bit more, but would have been perfectly content being recluses at the house or exploring nearby on foot. Would recommend without hesitation. We absolutely loved our time at Travis's and Jessica's place. They are a very lovely, genuine couple and we enjoyed meeting them very much. Their home is lovely and comfortable and being out on the prairies is wonderfully peaceful. I fell in love with everyone of their animals. The horses are so beautiful and very friendly. There is so much more I could say about them, all of it good. The 2 big farm dogs, Dom and Mia are totally laid back and just aim to please. The goats are....well, nice goats. And the cats! 3 outside, one of which (Mellow) we never saw, but we were warned about that. And there is one, Shadow, who was very affectionate and climbed into our car and made herself comfortable as we packed the car in preparation of taking our leave. It wouldn't have taken much to convince me to take her with us. And then there are 2 in the house. Vera who is sweet and carefree and Dax who looks like the cat in Alice in Wonderland and who acts very tough but is really quite sweet. But it is wise to play by his rules because he kind of insists on that. I would go back in a heartbeat.
Beautiful house, wonderful hosts and the best 3 dogs and 1 cat you could ask for. You'll be showered with love from Yoni (who demands cuddles all the time) and fall in love with Fillipa, Cosmo and Lucky. Each and everyone special in their own rights, Fillipa & Cosmo will follow you around and also love to cuddle and little Lucky may be old but a very gentle soul who goes crazy for cucumbers. Linda and Martin are wonderful hosts and made me feel so very welcome in their house. Linda cooked me the most delicious vegan food and I'd go back in a heartbeat. Wonderful sit if you ever get the chance to go.
