We enjoyed our sit for Laura and her brother Brody, which was our first to include caring for dogs. The pets warmed up to us quickly and kept us busy, and we fell in love with each of their personalities! Jackson and Jillian are sweet and active dogs who want to play alot but also to sit on your lap at movie time! They are well trained to go into their crates after being outside, and to go to their sleeping room at night. They go out to their pen directly from the attached garage which is so convenient. Giving meds in a dollop of peanut butter was a breeze! The cats Flick and Sugar are both vocal, which we loved, and make their needs easily known. They are also well trained to sleep in their carriers at night. It was fun to watch Flick on his backyard adventures, and Sugar will melt your heart with her snuggles when you hold her!! As Laura notes in her listing, she is currently renovating the house but we were quite comfortable in her cozy home in the quiet countryside! It was a treat to prepare meals with her beautiful new gas range, and to sit at the table overlooking the lovely view of the back of her property. We were there during cold weather and utilized the woodburning stove, which for us was a bonus. The house is easy to get to from Interstate 75, which also makes it convenient to explore Burt Lake and Mullett Lake areas, as well as the town of Indian River. It's a quick drive to the "alpine village" of Gaylord, where you will find anything you need. There are so many beautiful natural areas close by, including Pigeon River Country State Forest, the Sturgeon river, and several DNR elk viewing sites. Cyclists and hikers will also have very easy access to the North Central State Trail. We recommend at least one meal at The Thirsty Sturgeon in Wolverine! Laura was communicative before the sit and was quick to respond to questions while we were there. She is a lovely person and we feel we made a friend!
I had such a sweet, comfortable time caring for Finn and the home he shares with Jessica. As I’m local, our pre-sit walkthrough a few days in advance was super helpful and left me feeling informed and prepared. When I arrived, I had everything I needed and more. I loved Jessica’s aesthetic and there were cute little touches to notice. There’s a lot to enjoy in her apartment, including books, art, many streaming services, delicious Aeropress coffee, a super cozy faux fireplace/heater, and cat hijinks. Steps outside, there are many rad spots to visit; my favorite is Clyde’s Prime Rib, a one-of-a-kind Portland institution. Jessica was thoughtful and easy to reach. Curious, sweet, and occasionally wacky, Finn won my heart. He’s a handsome boy with a distinct personality, often dozing with his eyes open! I loved the way he curled up at the foot of the bed, keeping to himself but nearby, and once I was awake would often come up for a morning cuddle. All in all, a very comfortable stay in a great location for a considerate and communicative host with a charming and easy cat.
I loved this sit so much! Hanging out with big boy Matika during a quiet Thanksgiving week was a total joy. I spent a week partly working and mostly relaxing over the holiday. Matika was the best companion I could ask for. He's chill, affectionate, playful and the best snuggler! Cindy and Arlin are excellent and gracious hosts. They welcomed me with a homemade dinner and familiarized me with their immaculate home and Matika's routine. The photos and special touches throughout the home evoke a strong family tree. The setting is so cozy and serene it was hard to leave! I loved the natural light and views, outdoor spaces and especially the hot tub. The kitchen is a cook's dream. They provided a lovely guest room and private bath. Matika kept me smiling & laughing the entire sit. I did pry myself away to take advantage of nearby hiking and running trails. Also the local Y for gym and pool workouts. If you're seeking a chill cat in your lap and a luxurious, cozy home, this is it! I hope to see Matika again someday.
Koro is such a sweet cat, he always waited for me when I came home in the afternoon and was so excited to get his treats in the morning. The flat is warm and cosy and the neighbourhood is really nice, very safe and quiet and close to nice resturants and all kind of shops, for excample food shops. And it is very well connected to both the buses and the Underground. The communication with Phillipa was really good, she is both reliable and a caring cat owner.
What an amazing sit , from start to finish, Jennifer is so well prepared for pet sitters, we had our beautiful guest room with on suit bathroom , the cats were very relaxed with us being there, we felt very at home , that we just chilled in the pool area and went for walks in the beautiful area ,with the cats for most of our stay , Gus loves to be brushed and loves his food, Molly likes to be close by and curious to where we are , Super wants petted but doesn’t lol, lovely well behaved cats And the outdoor cat is the best fed stray in town, Easy to see Jennifer loves her Kitties, What a great relaxed sit Thanks Jennifer and Scott for the great hospitality ,
Gena was a lovely host sharing her sweet bungalow and Finn, a very warm, loving orange kitty. I had a great, peaceful week and appreciated how smooth is all went. Finn took a minute to open up, but was a total love bug after. Morning cuddles, loved when I picked him up, would join me in the living room if I relaxed on the couch, and over all had a funny little personality. He was a bit nocturnal my first few days (so ear pluggs helped)… but I’d be happy to sit for them both again. I would say he was very playful and well behaved!
