We couldn’t ask for better hosts. Richard and Margaret have been like a family to us. They have a huge collection of exotics birds, also goats, fishes, cats and lovely dogs but the tasks are easy to carry out. They are located at the top of a quiet hill with amazing views, plenty of footpaths to walk around. They gave us a nice detached apartmet, very confortable and fully furnished where we really felt as home. We highly recommend to house sit here, we can assure, you will have a fantastic experience.
Lydia and Rafi were great hosts! Their home was very welcoming and close to many popular attractions. Joey for a 1yr old pup was very well behaved and loved to cuddle. Tofu was very chill and also had her cuddle times as well. Our girls made friends with the neighborhood kids, which made this one of their top sits. We would gladly sit for Lydia and Rafi again!
We had a wonderful time on this housesit! The pets kept us somewhat busy, but it was all fun and easy. Our favorite times of the day were taking Pancake to his evening dog meetups, feeding Bettina, and collecting fresh chicken eggs. While Pancake is still learning some basic commands at 6 months old, he tries very hard to understand and learn, and he was never rowdy or rough with us or the smaller pets. He walks well and plays well with other dogs; he received many compliments on walks and at meetups. He’s potty-trained and it’s convenient having a side yard to let him out throughout the day. It takes some patience to get him into his crate at night, since he still wants company, but we’re sure this will improve as he gets older and continues training (and one day he may not need a crate). Overall he’s a really calm puppy who just wants to be petted and loved! Bettina makes us want to get our own Dutch bunny; she is super friendly, following us around her room and letting us pet her. We can watch her munch on hay, pellets, or greens all day. We cleaned her litterbox every other day; it was simple and even enjoyable to do since it didn’t smell at all and little Bettina deserves a nice clean litterbox to sit in while eating hay! Sourdough, Scone, and Croissant are fun… because they’re chickens. Croissant was brooding during our stay, but it was easy to pick her up every day to collect the eggs. It was helpful for this specific task to have 2 people: one to pick the brooding chicken up and the other to open the lower door (to the run of the coop) for her to re-enter without letting the other chickens escape. (Note for future sitters: don’t think it’s super common for chickens to brood so you may not need to do this.) In general we liked letting the chickens peck around the backyard, but most of the time kept them in the coop because it can take us a while to get them back in. Alan, Jenn, and their kids are the kindest family! They left a thorough guide and helpful checklists for each of the pets. Their home and gardens are beautiful; we enjoyed using the backyard grill and chef’s kitchen. We highly recommend this housesit opportunity for anyone looking to enjoy the gorgeous and peaceful Bay Area suburbs with the company of pets who will steal your heart! Note: It’s possible for one sitter to take care of all of the pets, but it’s helpful to have a partner.
We loved our time with sweet, rambunctious George and docile Chester. Dog sitting the pair was such a joy, and now I cannot stop pestering my fiancé to get a pup of our own. These dogs are well behaved, curious, and have so so much love to give. It is evident that they are well taken care of by their family. The home was spacious, clean, and very cozy for a Thanksgiving holiday. Lily was open, accommodating, and very easy to work with. We feel so blessed to have sat for these pups and to have connected with the family through this platform. This was the ideal dog sit.
I feel so spoiled because this was only my second sit with Trusted Housesitters and it was an absolute dream! Jenny made me feel so welcome and at ease when I met up with her before my stay. She explained everything with thorough details and was extremely clear and helpful. The flat is just beautiful, and I felt so welcomed. It was squeaky clean when I arrived, with soft towels, a super comfy bed, and even chocolates waiting for me. I already miss Connie and Lily - the sweetest pets alive - and the location of this home cannot be beat. As a first-time visitor to Edinburgh, I was close enough to catch a quick bus or even walk to all the sights. Even so, it was quiet and residential and removed enough to feel peaceful. There is a beautiful hill park only 10 minutes away which is the perfect spot to watch the sunset over the city. If you have the chance to sit for Jenny and her family, take it! I was honored to take care of her home and pets for a short while. They are all lovely, and I am so grateful for this experience.
Such a nice family to sit for! And a charming place to stay, you'll feel at home here right away. Leo is a sweet charmer and knows his way on many walks in this lovely old neighborhood. Lizzie takes a bit to warm up to you but suddenly there she is on your lap! So comfortable, this home is full of places to relax, a yard full of squirrels and birds to enjoy and a wonderful kitchen to cook in and a comfy bed. Happy to return, anyone who stays is a lucky choice! Many thanks -Sally
