This was my first long pet-sitting experience (month and a half), and it was just what I expected and more. Homey and Binky are the best partners you could ask for: funny, entertaining, and loving. I truly had a wonderful stay with them. They are very easy to care for and always, always bring a smile to your face. I already miss them so much.

Carol was always very communicative and attentive to anything I needed in the house to make my stay more enjoyable. Thank you very much, Carol, for your hospitality and for letting me take care of your beautiful home. I really enjoyed days and evenings in the pool area and the peace of Wellington. I highly recommend this pet-sit and would love to come back again.

What an adventure! First, the cats. We fell in love with Percy, Mitzy and Molly right away. It was impossible not to, as they all angled to be on our laps from the first day we arrived. Mitzy is a character who loves to go on walks together. Percy is a sweet old guy who happily curled up on our laps (on his terms), and otherwise guarded the porch from stray cats. Molly is just a sweetheart who also loves to be in a lap or playing with toys. They all are quite food motivated. Mitzy even jumped right into the fridge when we first got there until we figured out her game!

This home has a million dollar view that never gets boring. Open the shutters in the morning and you’ll be looking out at the crystal blue water of Souda Bay. Walk down the road past the house and you’re facing mountains, which while we were there in January, were often covered in snow. It’s absolutely stunning. The village has some lovely winding streets and roads, plenty of places to walk (all with a view) and the hum of village life: sheep, goats, chickens and many stray cats.

There is a small grocery store in town with a friendly and helpful shopkeeper who made us feel very welcomed. We were so glad to have it just a 5 minute walk away.

It's quiet in the village and getting to the other ones requires driving up very winding roads which I’ll admit were kind of terrifying to me at first, but became routine by the time we left. We were so grateful for the use of the car. Several times we drove 15 min down the mountain to Kalives where we parked and took the bus into Chania. Once we figured it out, it was very easy and comfortable and took about an hour.

The house was cozy and we found the bed in the main bedroom comfortable. We really appreciated the closet space Kate & Roy cleared out for us. The internet speed was very good, usually around 45 mbps, and reliable. I was working online for some of the time and had no problem with connectivity. (And often had a cat in my lap while I was working.) We were warned about possible power outages but that only happened a couple of times and they were very brief.
It was winter and we really appreciated the multiple heating options including radiators, electric wall units and a fireplace. We had hot water for our showers and good water pressure. While we missed having a microwave in the kitchen, we had the pots, pans and dishes we needed to eat at home. There is also a hot tub we were able to enjoy a few times. Heavenly!

Kate and Roy showed us around when we got there and although we were on very different time zones during the sit they were prompt to respond to messages.

We will have many very fond memories of our time in Crete with Percy, Mitzy and Molly.

The 11 days with Cayanna, Capolina, Baby and Peanut were super nice and relaxing. We enjoyed the time so much and have taken all the animals into our hearts.

Kate gave us such a warm and friendly welcome that we immediately felt at home. She picked us up from the ferry, we were allowed to arrive a day earlier and do a detailed handover together. She showed us everything in detail, we walked the dogs together and we had a great insight into everyday life. Kate even invited us to dinner and showed us the cool microbrewery owned by her son-in-law. Communication with Kate was always quick, easy and very friendly.

Her babies are all little cuties. All the animals are incredibly sweet and affectionate. Even though they missed Kate at the beginning, they quickly got used to us and we had a great time together. Cayanna, Capolina and Baby were very very affectionate and cuddly. Peanut, due to her background, is very shy and spent most of her time under the bed. But Kate had also explained this to us at the beginning. In the end, we were even able to stroke Peanut a little. The care of the animals is uncomplicated and on the long evening round at the golf course, the dogs can even run around freely at the end.

Kate's house leaves nothing to be desired and we felt very comfortable. Everything is very comfortably furnished and clean, there is a large kitchen, a large beautiful bedroom, a living area with large windows and a wonderful view of the sea. Kates house also has a rooftop, where you can take a good aperitif and watch the sunset. There is a lot to explore in the area and on Roatan. We were allowed to use Kate's truck for the time of the sit, which was great.

Kate has a big heart for animals and takes care of them as well as the animals in the area. She provides food for the dogs and cats that are looked after in the gated community. The food is given to the guards, who then take over the feeding so that the animals get used to it.

We really enjoyed our time here and miss the gang very much. We would 100% recommend a housesit here. We wish Kate and her family all the best for the future!
