Shara
What can I say? - just lovely. From the minute we arrived Shara and her family made us welcome, as did the 5 dogs! The next thing that hits you is the wonderful view and the lovely home. Shara and her daughter Francesca made us a lovely meal which we ate together with the family, who were all lovely company. Shara showed us the ropes before leaving the day after with two of the dogs. We used Shara’s dog car to get up to the walking spot, which was stunning and we could walk and scarcely see a soul. The dogs are so loving and I wanted to take them all home with me! The cats and the poultry are all easy to look after and who knew that geese had a personality. Oca the goose comes and sits by you outside and then has a nap! I would wholeheartedly recommend this sit, and would love to sit for them again. Thanks Shara, Andrew, Francesca and Olie (and their menagerie of course). Hope to see you again

Anne
Anne and Bill were lovely, easy to communicate with, have a tidy home and two well behaved friendly dogs. Both Milo and Lucy loved our company, walks and cuddles. Property is in great location for a quiet few days away and close to nice walks around the area.

If you're looking for a sit with a comfortable house, well-appointed kitchen, super comfy bed, and a dog that sleeps SUPER well, this is it. If you're looking to sit for generous people who took care to leave their home clean, this is it. If you're looking to hang out with a dog who is very sweet to people, this is it. If you're looking for a sit where there's an option to take the dog to daycare a couple of times a week so you can do other activities, this is it.

Some things to be aware of: If you're looking for a sit with a great location, this might not be it - it's the suburbs, and not super close to great hiking. If you're looking for a sit with an easy dog who you can take hiking, this may not be it. Remi is a puppy and a shelter dog and has some related, challenging behaviors like being reactive to other dogs when on a leash. If you're experienced with a gentle lead, you might have more luck, because apparently she does better when you use it, but she didn't like it/I didn't have any experience with one and it didn't work for us.

All in all, super sweet family, super sweet dog, super sweet house!

Grace
Grace was absolutely lovely from the get go, very communicative and friendly and answered any and all questions we had with lots amazing local recommendations, making our stay that much more special.
Housesitting Eli was honestly a gift. I’ve never met a cat that loved attention and cuddles so much but I was so grateful for it. He was so entertained by the birds on the balcony, loved belly rubs and even tried to play a board game with us which was hilarious.
The apartment was beautiful with lots of amenities and good location.
Thank you so much for giving us this opportunity and to meet such an incredible and witty cat.

Ashana (Aka Joanne)
This was a great sit. Ashana left her home very nicely for us and treated us like guests. She invited us the night before her early morning travels, so we were able to meet her cats, learn their routines, and understand the workings of her home first hand. She also provided a written manual, left everything very clean, took us out to eat, and stayed in communication.
Safi is the queen mama kitty, needed to eat smaller amounts more often, and is very sweet; she sat with us, followed us around, often slept with us, and loved to be brushed. Her two male children kitties, Max and Horatio, were more playful, a little skittish, loved to eat, took good care of each other, and let you pet them when their bellies were full and they felt safe. Their sister Samantha was elusive, spent most of her time in Ashana’s closet, and needed her food delivered to her with her door closed, so the others didn’t eat it and so she could feel safe. Charlie is a neighborhood cat who often came around at meal time, figuring how to get in the cat door; he was friendly and loving, though the others weren’t too fond of sharing attention with him.
The litter box required minimal maintenance, because with the exception of safi, most business happened outside.
The home is within walking distance of the train station, a few grocery stores, monkseaton shops, downtown Whitley bay and the beach.
This was a great sit, and we felt like old friends by the end. We would return and do recommend. Thank you!
