Nija took great care of our dog, Tilly. She genuinely loved her and took her everywhere with her. She was very caring and took great care of our home. I would highly recommend Nija if you want an energetic, caring person to take care of your home and pets.
Al and Jack were gracious hosts and Otis is a very easy dog to care. I really enjoyed my time in Albuquerque. I met Al and Jack by video call. They were enthusiastic and accommodating. When I arrived, they toured me around the house, prepared a Hungarian dinner, and took me to the best breakfast burrito (just across street), and ensured that all my questions were answered. I think they fall under the category of "no news is good news" so I set up a photo album of Otis and only emailed when I needed an answer. Otis was very easy to care for. He woke when I did and gets excited for his morning walk; typically he stretches his front legs and then flaps his ears about. Otis lounges most of the day and is comfortable hang outside in the shade, sun, or porch chair while you are away. He free-feeds on kibble, but typically I provide him with a cup and few sprays of fish oil just after his ~6pm cocktail. There are a variety of dog treats for his cocktail and he thoroughly enjoys them. I usually also brought his pepperoni stick on walks (AM and PM) and provided him with pieces as he responded to his name or gave me his attention around energetic neighborhood dogs. Truly, he was one of the easiest dogs for which I've cared. Albuquerque is the largest city in New Mexico with plenty to do (check out Visit Albuquerque website). I enjoyed National Park sites, Gathering of Nations, Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, and more during my time. Breaking Bad fans also have much to visit around here. I highly recommend a sit here.
I originally applied to Paula because Mia is a maltipoo. I sit for a family with a maltipoo and for another with two cockapoos, all of whom I have grown to love. It seems I just love poodle mixes because Mia was a joy from start to finish. She is smart, warm, funny and beautiful (her picture doesn't do her justice!). She is trained to behave, but not over-trained to have lost any personality. She stayed close wherever I was; beside me while I worked, in the family room reading or watching TV and always tucked up against me while we slept at night. While she stayed close, she wasn't needy at all. Mia loves her walks in the park and walking paths right next to the house. Quite busy in the mornings, she was not disturbed by other dogs walking by. The most fun is playing 'fetch for a food bit' in the evening. She is a fierce runner; little ears flying and legs churning. I challenge you to find a cuter site anywhere. I would jump at an opportunity to stay with her again. Paula's home is super comfortable in a nice neighborhood. Clean, tidy, not over-filled, it is a light and calm space where I totally relaxed. Paula invited me for a meet prior to the sit. A good communicator, she explained home and pet routines AND left a Welcome Guide which I really appreciate. A few texts were answered quickly and thoroughly. Paula set the sit up to be a success and I think it was!
We had a wonderful time caring for Daisy in Susan’s beautiful home. Daisy is honestly the most well-behaved dog we have ever had the pleasure of meeting! She can be lively and full of fun but then loved to snooze and cuddle up next to us, she loves human contact and is absolutely endearing. She and our cocker spaniel Mika ran around the nearby fields chasing each other and she was great travelling in the car when we went on walks further afield. She doesn’t pull on the lead, her recall is good and she she won hearts and minds with her perfect behaviour and sweet nature in the cafés and pubs we went to. Susan was very friendly and welcoming, we had a relaxed evening the night before her departure; shared a lovely meal together and she kindly baked us a delicious homemade cake. We stayed in touch with Susan daily sending her photos and updates of Daisy. The village of Ramsden is idyllic, and Susan’s home and garden is stunning and very special. We were made to feel very welcome by the various neighbours we met in the village hall (there’s a monthly charity fundraising coffee morning) and in the pub. Thank you Susan for trusting us with the care of Daisy and of your home. We would love to come back and care for your sweet girl again at some point in the future.
Had a lovely time looking after Murphy for a few nights. He is the sweetest dog, very responsive and very loving! The walking area is beautiful which was a bonus, along with the friendly neighbours :) I had no problems communicating with Chris and Gill, both before and during my sit. They were kind & accomodating and made sure I had anything I needed before they left. It was wonderful getting to know you both, I would absolutely love to look after Murphy again!
Shani was a great host. She responded questions quickly and has a detailed welcome guide. She is so nice to have fresh flowers for us. Chickie doesn't look like 7 year old cat. She got small face and energetic. She was a little shy at first, but after couple of days, she would sit on our laps and knead for an hour. Love her so much! We enjoy every minute with her.
My housesitting experience for Sam and Amara was wonderful! They are a very fun, open, and loving couple that were so eager for me to come and to show me their beautiful home. They were so sweet to offer to pick me up from the train station when I arrived in town and went out of their way to be sure I was comfortable with everything in the house and the instructions for caring for their fur babies—Rosey and Shiva. The cats were so fun to be around and learning their distinctive personalities were a kick! I highly recommend housesitting for Sam and Amara!
