There were so many things I liked about Sydney. She commmitted to a very long 3 week sit with our two dogs. She was willing to arrive the night before we left so she would have plenty of time to get to know the dogs and the house. She even offered to take us to the airport the next morning. The house was very clean and tidy when we returned. The dogs were alive and appeared healthy. Unfortunately my neighbor across the street called me at 11:00pm a couple of days before we were scheduled to return to tell me that one of the dogs was at her house. Our tenant who lives downstairs let me know that she became concerned when she saw the dogs roaming the full yard with out Sydney in sight. Our tenant asked Sydney if we had said that was OK and Sydney let her know that the dogs were being watched from inside the house . . . I assume she was watching out the windows and doorways. To be fair, our yard is pretty well fenced in but I did make it clear to Sydney that it was still possible for the dogs to get through the fencing. It was not fully secure. Also, I understand that there was a fair amount of rain but I had let Sydney know where my rain shoes and raincoat and umbrella were so I expected her to be outside whenever the dogs were outside. Overall Sydney was very nice but I wouldn't invite her back to take care of my dogs. I think she would be better suited to care for cats and small dogs that are confined to the house.

Mariette
Marriette, Jonny Scarlet and Ruby are a lovely family. We had a very warm welcome on our arrival and were shown around the house, they made us a meal and gave us clear instructions to look after the delightful Purdy. Purdy is the most gentle laid back easy dog to care for. She was patient and fun and loved cuddles but did not pester you. We took her on long walks every day as there was so many easy walks from the door into ancient woodland, meadows, along rivers with very little road walking straight from the door. The house has very spacious areas downstairs and a large garden and patio for Purdy to play in. Purdy is just adorable and we really enjoyed her company and looking after her. We recommend this sit and would definitely return to sit again.

Laura
So much fun spending time with Millie in Laura & Jack's lovely home! Millie is an excellent hiking companion and stuck close by us as we explored the mountains and shoreline with her. She has lots of energy chasing her tennis balls while on the trail or in the backyard. She is also excellent on the leash and we loved being able to walk into the cute town with her. She is very affectionate and loves to cuddle and give hugs.

Laura and Jack were very accommodating to us during our stay and were excellent communicators throughout our time with Millie. Their home is very comfortable to hang out in and just a short walk into town as well as to a short hike up Mount Battie. They gave an abundance of suggestions on activities to do in the area and we experienced many of them! We highly recommend this sit.

Dorcas
We really enjoyed our stay at Dorcas’ beautiful home! Molly and Lola provided us with endless entertainment — they’re gorgeous dogs with distinct personalities. Lola is a little wary of strangers at first, but by day 2 she was out of her shell and showing us how much she loves to play. Molly is content snoozing or play fighting with Lola but will always have time for a cuddle. Both dogs are hugely affectionate and love a belly rub! They are very good on the lead and in the car, and there are several options for short walks locally. Nearby Montcuq has a great Sunday market we enjoyed visiting. Both Dorcas and Leonardo made us feel very comfortable and we would gladly look after Molly and Lola again!

Alison
This was our first Housesit in the UK and it did not disappoint. The village was lovely, a little picture perfect part of the world with the Derwent River at the end of the lane, a gorgeous house with a mix of modern and traditional expertly blended, welcoming and generous hosts and two super obedient and loving dogs who stole our hearts. The change of pace was exactly what we were looking for but even though this is a small quiet village the market town of Malton is only a 5 minute drive away where you will find all the supplies and artisan shops you need. You will need a car. Alison and David made us feel so welcome and sharing a meal and staying with them the night before they left really helped so we could see first hand what was expected on how to care for their dogs and where everything was located. Wren & Piper are the best trained dogs we’ve come across, they are hunting cockers and you must respect the instructions they have been taught to obey and this makes for very easy to manage dogs. They were easy to take out on car trips and no problem amongst other dogs or out in public. They must walk at least twice a day and as there are many walks just outside the door you needn’t go far although great walks are also a short car ride away. We enjoyed our walk with the dogs around nearby castle Howard. The house is super clean and comfortable and we enjoyed the fireplace and cooking on the aga. We were genuinely sad to leave and we hope to remain friends with Alison and David and return their hospitality if they ever come to Australia one day. Wren and Piper brought us great joy and they have a list of admiring past housesitters so if you’re ever lucky enough to stay here you will no doubt join that list of admirers too.

Alexandra
Sammy is a bundle of love and happiness; he completely stole my heart. 💖 His companionship was full of energy, and incredibly funny.

Alex's home has everything you need. It's conveniently located just 30 minutes from the city center and the main tourist attractions, and it's very close to the forest as well, perfect for nice, long walks.

Communication with Alex was super smooth. She welcomed me warmly, gave me a thorough house tour, explained Sammy's routine in detail, and provided a Welcome Guide with all the info. Her home was spotless, and everything was ready for my arrival.

I highly recommend this sit!

Thank you, Alex, for welcoming me into your home and trusting me with your beautiful boy. I'm going to miss him tons!
