Great sit. Lily Mae and Smokey Blue were so sweet and easy to take care of. Rebecca’s home was very comfortable and the setting couldn’t have been more beautiful.
Toni and Marti are great hosts. We met them for lunch on the day of their departure. They gave us are warm welcome and told us everthing we needed to care for Cinnamon and to find our way around house and locality. In addition to a Welcome Guide, we even found a "Welcome basket" with sweets and wine. Whow! Communication with Toni and Marti was excellent and without delay - before, during and after the sit. The house is well equipped and is located in a nice area with supermarkets, shops, restaurants and cafes close by. It's only 5 km to the beach and about 10 km to The Hague (former capital) and Leiden (small university town). The easiest and probably fastest way getting around is by bicycle - we are in the Netherlands! Cinnamon is a lovely, calm and well behaved dog. She is easy to walk. We took her on leash most of the time but let her run free on the beach. In the house, she likes to sit on the couch and curls up next to you. And she likes cuddles. We had a great time with her and really enjoyed her company. Thank you Toni and Marti - It has been a great and enjoyable sit and we can highly recommend it.
It was a pleasure to watch Mr. Gus (Gus Gus, Gusalufagus...and many other names) while Margaret was away. Margaret was so welcoming and provided a complete Welcome Packet containing everything I needed to know about Gus and the house. She also welcomed me with a bottle of wine and chocolate! Gus is a mellow fellow and a complete sweetheart. His favorite activities were (in order) sleeping in, getting a belly rub, going for a walk, getting a belly rub, and taking naps (meals and treats were also close behind). Gus has a doggie door so he can let himself out to sniff and take care of business during the day, but he especially loved his walks. There is a wonderful trail by the house and quite a few more within easy driving distance. We explored the Bosque school trail just up the road and loved being by the river. Gus is so well behaved and does wonderfully on leash; if he starts tugging, a gentle reminder will stop him. He's also a favorite among the neighborhood walkers :) We enjoyed our evenings lounging on the couch with me reading and him napping. Margaret has a lovely house in a quiet neighborhood. She left me space in the refrigerator for food and drawer and closet space in the bedroom for clothes. She also welcomed me to use any food she had in the pantry or fridge (all I indulged in was some rice). Margaret also welcomed me to use her yoga and meditation room (complete with massage chair) and her home office. I was able to park my car in the garage. Margaret's home is in NW Albuquerque, only minutes from many grocery stores, local breweries, and Petroglyph National Monument. It's also easy access to I-40 and downtown Albuquerque. The airport, Sandias (and the Tram) are not far at all. There's so much to do! I highly recommend this sit for anyone looking for adventure in the Albuquerque area or even for those looking for a quiet getaway. You can make this sit as exciting or as mellow as you wish. I'm scheduled to sit again for Mr. Gus and Margaret and am looking forward to it!
We stayed at Jessica's place and looked after Millie for a week and we absolutely loved it! Millie is a very sweet doggy with a lot of energy. We had fun teaching her tricks and playing with her. When we first met her, she was very excited by new strangers in the house. She quickly got used to us and was so welcoming and sweet with us, spending time with us, whatever we were doing. Jess and Andy were wonderful, making us feel very much at home at their place. We arrived the evening before they left for their trip and enjoyed dinner with them, as they gave us all the instructions for Millie's routine. Their communication was great, before and during the house sit. We exchanged photos while they were away. Their house is beautiful and spacious, a great comfortable place to stay. It is less than a 2-mile long nature walk along a brook to Cambridge's awesome city center. Overall, we so completely enjoyed our time, looking after Mille and staying at their house. We would absolutely love to do it again, should we get the opportunity.
Everything about this sit was amazing! Maggie is the best behaved dog and the home was clean and beautiful. Communication was easy with Rod and Chris and they are wonderful people. I would happily go back!
