Stephen and Jenny were wonderful! They make such a great team. My dog, Phoebe, was relaxed and content in their care. They regularly shared pictures and updates with me and I had no a worry while I was away. The house was spotless and all directions followed. They were easy to be around and a joy to spend time talking with. Jenny is a fabulous cook and shared a wonderful dinner at my return. Eline communicated very clearly and friendly, we also had a video call before my stay and discussed all the details about the flat and the cats. In addition, Eline and Daniel provided me with a lot of pictures and information regarding the cats and the flat, because Daniel had already left when I arrived in Leiden, which was also very helpful. During my stay, Eline always responded very quickly to questions. In any case, we could have alway made another video call if something had been unclear. Martok and Sisko are great cats - each of them very different and with their own special character. The three of us quickly got used to each other and had a great time together. The flat is perfectly located if you want to be in the very heart of Leiden and explore the city. Leiden is (to me) a very beautiful and lively city with an incredible number of cafés etc, but also, if you want, a lot of interesting culture like museums. If, like me, you love nature, you are at the seaside and in the dunes in about 40 minutes by bike (Katwiijk and Wassenaar) or in 15 minutes by bus. The flat is cosy and has everything you need. The only thing you should know and what Eline clearly communicates is that you can only open the living room windows a crack at a time so that the cats don't run away (but there is a skylight in the sleeping room that you can leave open, if it doesn't rain, of course). That's important to know if you're someone who always needs a lot of fresh air (and this also might only be important if you spent a lot of time inside the flat). But you can also just sit outside the flat by the canal from time to time and enjoy your coffee, like I did (when it's warm enough of course ;-)). I can highly recommend Eline as a pet parent!
I looked after Coco for two full days. She is very independent and comes and goes as she pleases, but always returns at meal times. Coco enjoys head scratches though not so keen on being stroked! Victoria gave a very thorough introduction to the house and Coco's routines. She also kindly let me stay one night early and arranged for the house keys to be collected so that I could catch a train to my next sit, for which I was very grateful. The house is very comfortable and there is a nice garden. There are several bus routes nearby and it's fairly straightforward to get to the train station. There is a small corner shop at the end of the street, and two supermarkets just a 10 minute walk away. Just around the corner is a charity cafe which is great if you don't fancy cooking. I enjoyed Victoria and Coco's company and can thoroughly recommend them as excellent hosts.
I loved sitting for Natalie’s adorable cats Lily & Olive! They were pretty shy at first but eventually came out of their shells and shared some good quality cuddles. Natalie was very communicative leading up to and during the sit and she also provided me with detailed instructions on how to care for them. Her apartment is in a great location, walking distance to downtown San Carlos and just steps away from Trader Joe’s. Internet was great, kitchen was well-equipped, and there were plenty of amenities for a comfortable stay! I highly recommend sitting for Natalie - especially for people who love snuggling up with some super cute kitty cats.
I had a wonderful experience sitting for Dolly and Poppy, Dukie and Mini, in Charlotte's lovely, characterful cottage, with incredibly pretty gardens, which is a short walk from Lechlade and the river Thames. There are lots of good walks nearby, and I was lucky enough to be there during a mini heatwave, so took Poppy and Dolly for daily walks in nearby meadows, filled with wildflowers. Dolly and Poppy are such little characters and really are fun to look after; they love to be in the same room as you, though Dolly will snooze most of the time and take herself off to bed quite early, while Poppy will position her legs like a princess and loves a stroke...just don't go near her with a dog brush as she will shoot you a look :D All in all I had a really enjoyable time and hope to keep in touch with Charlotte and the girls!

She took the time to explain everything about her home and her animals in great detail, ensuring that I was fully prepared for my responsibilities. One aspect that stood out to me was Allison's responsiveness. She was always prompt in replying to my texts and communications, which made the whole experience smooth and hassle-free. It was evident that she prioritized clear and open communication. Now, let me tell you about Jack and Abby, Allison's adorable dogs. These two furry companions were an absolute joy to care for. Not only were they incredibly calm and gentle, but they were also very well trained. They obeyed commands and had excellent manners. They loved to cuddle and were always up for some quality bonding time. Their laid-back and relaxed nature made it a pleasure to be in their company. I genuinely felt a connection with them from the moment I arrived. Allison's house was nothing short of immaculate. It was evident that she took great pride in maintaining a clean and organized living space. The modern amenities provided a comfortable and convenient environment throughout my stay. Additionally, the community where Allison's house is located was lovely. The surrounding houses and buildings looked new, and there were ample bike and dog walking paths. It created a picturesque setting that added to the overall experience. In conclusion, I thoroughly enjoyed my time housesitting for Allison and caring for Jack and Abby. I highly recommend this housesit to anyone seeking a rewarding and pleasant experience. Given the opportunity, I would gladly jump at the chance to housesit for Allison again.
