What a wonderful sit. Peaceful and in a beautiful part of the world near to the market town of Lewes which always has a nice little busy vibe especially on market day. Lewes has everything from an arty cinema to many cafes, a lovely river running through, a couple of good book shops along with character and the charm of a historic English town. It’s also got good transport connections. Having a preliminary meet up with Amy first was a real joy, an owner who is clear kind and generous. A concise set of intuitions was left for us making everything easy to understand. We were also left a very appreciated bundle of goodies making us feel extra welcomed. Olive is a special girl. She’s very easy to care for and just loved her walks. She was happy to travel in the car and go to Lewes gaining the affection of many who stopped to stroke her. Had the weather been better ( we had a bit of a grisly weather week ) We and Olive would have walked for miles across hill and dale from the front door but we made do with her favourite loop walk which took us through the picturesque hamlet of Kingston. We had the spring flowers in abundance, so it was always uplifting. There’s a nice little farmers market on a Saturday in a hay barn in Kingston which has without doubt the best almond croissants we’ve had not to mention the artisan loaves, fruit and veg. Amy showed her true colours when I (Peta) managed to have a dramatic entrance to the sit, falling over Olive and smashing my face on a kitchen cupboard! She kept her composure, made sure I was ok and was so kind! Thank you Amy! Olive was the star of the show all week, walked well on the lead, played happily in the house with her toys, travelled easily by car and was an affectionate and empathic presence. We had never cared for a corgi before so learnt some of the breeds nature, such as the herding instinct as in she liked us being all together. She would happily walk with me alone but would only walk with Adam alone when I was out in the car and no where to be seen. Thanks to Amy and Peter for being very cool and calm when we locked ourselves out and thanks too for choosing us to look after the precious Olive and your exceptional house. Would highly recommend this sit.
We had a fine time pet sitting Oscar. He is a lovely, friendly cat who enjoys company and joined us in the evening sitting on our laps. He liked little treats which Andrea left for us to use in the freezer. Oscar likes to be indoors, but I don't blame him in the winter. We had the benefit of Christmas decorations too, which made it feel festive. We met Andrea and Martin beforehand, which is always useful both in finding where we are staying and to be shown where different things were in the house. We were also given printed instructions on how things worked in the house, which we always find very useful. Andrea and Martin made us feel very welcome. We were comfortable in the house and we were able to enjoy an open fire. We had to practice a couple of times but once we sorted it out we were very cosy and enjoyed it very much. Our bedroom was fine with a very comfortable bed and a shower that worked very well. We were very close to the town centre and a slightly longer walk to the River Thames.
Michael and Ashleigh welcomed us. They were easy to communicate with and flexible with our arrival time to meet for familiarisation and then a lovely dinner together. Very social and easy to chat with. Henry, Stanley and Oliver were easy to look after and adapted to us really well. Stanley was a bit standoffish at first meeting but warmed up on our first day with him. The house is modern, over 3 levels with a small courtyard and has everything you need. It fronts on to a lovely canal, in walking distance to lovely local sites, restaurants and a park for walking dogs. It is about 30 mins walk to train station, however there is a local bus too. The info on THS doesn't include Oliver the cat yet, but Ashleigh told us about him in our first video chat. Thanks Ashleigh and Michael, we loved our time with Henry, Stanley and Oliver. I would recommend to other sitters.
We really enjoyed our stay at Eva’s home in Montreal. Her cats are all adorable and affectionate! For this sit we were just looking after Chablis and Syrah and we found them very easy to care for. Chablis is so fluffy and sweet - he sometimes hides during the day, but was very friendly and gentle when he came to see us. Syrah is very cute and playful - she especially loves playing with her springs and is a very curious, sociable and affectionate cat. We loved spending time with and playing with them! Merlot’s diabetes had returned that week, so to avoid any complications, Eva placed him with a friend who has more experience managing his condition. However, we still got to meet him on the final day, and he was affectionate and adorable! Eva is friendly and her apartment is very nice, comfortable and clean. There were drawers and wardrobe space available, which made it really convenient for us to unpack our things. There was also space to do remote work, including a desk with an external screen. The neighbourhood was safe and walkable with many stores and restaurants nearby. There is street parking - however be aware that on certain days in Montreal cars have to be moved to a different street because of street cleaning. It was easy to use public transport and Bixi bikes as well. We’d love to look after Syrah, Chablis and Merlot again one day and recommend this sit!
I really liked sitting for Kuyjo, he's an adorable kitty, very friendly and cuddly, he's easy to care for. The house is beautiful and spacious, with an amazing view on the ocean, and the house was spotless when I first arrived. The area is really pretty, with a lot of beaches near by. Lacie provided me with all the information I needed before and during my stay. I really recommend this sit.
