What a great place to sit! The house is part castle, part cottage, with all sorts of fun nooks and crannies. The garden is exceptional. Sue and Peter, the owners, are expert plantsmen (former pros!) and it shows. If you're interested in plants, or just enjoy being in beautiful surroundings, this is the ideal place. There are two cats, Higgs and Boson, with funny personalities. They're wary of new people at first, but soon realise you're now in charge of the canteen and start following you around and throwing themselves onto your lap. The hens are very easy to look after. They gather by the door of their run when they see you coming, in hope of some yummy leftover veg, or handfuls of grass. I arrived the evening before Sue and Peter went away and they made me very welcome, even down to a delicious veggie meal . The guest room is so comfy, with a gorgeous view of the garden and countryside. Sue and Peter were undemanding home-owners, happy for me to contact them if I had questions, but not insisting on daily reports. Of course I did have questions - and they were most helpful. There are loads of lovely walks right from the front door. Croft Castle is really interesting and a mile or so's stroll away (don't miss the Fishpool Valley - great for a drizzly wander!). Berrington Hall, Capability Brown's last project, is just down the road and makes a good outing. Ludlow and Leominster are short drives and well worth a look. You could easily get further afield, but I was more than happy just to potter around with Higgs and Boson, enjoying the garden and talking to the chickens.
Lindsay was kind, accommodating, communicative, friendly, and generous with her space. It was very clean and felt like a home away from home. This ended up being just a housesit, not a pet sit. The location is incredible, if you have an opportunity to stay here and are not familiar with Calgary, know that this is a gem of a community!
I didn't meet the owners but were very informative, responsive, and caring. Ralph the cat is one of the most gorgeous cat ever with the softest fur, and luckily, he loves to be brushed, which he got several times a day. He's not into playing but happy to be near you. The location is away from the town center but was an easy commute from the Reading train station and was good for low noise. Big supermarket and Aldi are located near with other stores about a km away, so easy to get supplies. There's also a mini market within the Kennet Island community. The owner provided a nice bike so was able to ride into Reading center 2 miles away, and along Thames River. It was good 5 days for me to "work from home" in peace with breaks for the outdoors.
An amazing place to Housesit! Carol was friendly, efficient, organized, and communicative. The house was comfortable and In a great area of Atlanta ( walking distance to the botanical gardens!) Her cat Roxie is a sweetheart and easy to care for. She warmed up to me immediately, asking for lots of scratches and cuddles. Hanging out with her in the back patio was a wonderful spot to relax and enjoy the garden. I would highly recommend this sit! π
You want some fun and adventure with amazing animals while also getting to enjoy a retreat in nature? You can have all of it at Eileeenβs! I had so much fun sitting for them that I asked them to stay on their trip longer π It was the first time I took care of chickens and guineas, and let me tell you it was so easy! Sally, Ricky and Ellie are full of pure JOY. Ellie will sweeten up to you soon and Ricky and Sally are such loving (albeit energetic!) personalities that I melted for. And Daisy is just the sweetest, snuggling up with you in bed at night or on top of the dryer. I totally fell in love with all of them π₯° Their home is perfect for one or two. And the land is really special, a great place to be in touch with nature and unwind. Thank you for such a wonderful stay and connection!
I had a great time with Pepper! She is the sweetest, chillest dog ever. Perhaps one of the easiest sits I've had - she's such a sweetie pie angel. Zach and Ali were super communicative and welcoming. Their apartment is beautiful and clean. Plus, the fully stocked espresso machine with a how-to video included really perked up the stay! Great location and pretty views too!
