Ana was a fabulous host! She responded very quickly to messages and made sure that my comfort in the house and with Cookie was a priority. The house was very clean when I arrived and is pleasantly furnished to come back to after a day on the river or hiking trail, or just to hang out in the hot springs and cool little downtown. The house is very close to the restaurants and grocery store, and has amazing views of the mountains. Now for the best part...Cookie! I love Cookie. He was perfect company for the few days I was there, and after a day or two he really started to show his fun personality. If you give him some space and have some patience, and bribe him with lots of treats, he really warms up to you rather quickly. He was easy to take care of and spent most of the morning snoozing, but it was very fun taking him for walks and watching him bounce back and forth between his doggie door and food dish in the afternoon and evenings. Buena Vista is a fun town in a very cool part of the state, and Ana's hospitality and Cookie's company make for a great stay. I would LOVE to chill with Cookie again, anytime. Thanks!
Deanna and her family made us feel very welcome, providing excellent information on caring for their sweet pets and orienting us to their home and neighborhood. Trudy and Coco are easy-keepers and a lot of fun. Trudy is a very well-mannered dog who is equally happy taking walks, playing chase in the yard, or just relaxing by our side. Coco, a dwarf lop-eared rabbit, was our first bunny sit and she made a lasting impression - just as cute as she is entertaining (and I've been wanting a Coco of my own since meeting her!). Deanna's home has lots of natural light, a very comfortable bed, with a wonderful porch and large, private backyard for relaxing. It is in a quiet neighborhood near Mt. Vernon, Old Town Alexandria and the Potomac River. There are a couple of restaurants within walking distance and many, many options within a couple of miles. Deanna encouraged us to take advantage of the location and we appreciated the opportunity to see the cherry trees in bloom at the Tidal Basin, as well as bike the Mt. Vernon trail and explore the nearby wetlands and waterfront. We recommend this stay and would gladly sit for this family again!
