Jane and Ken are the epitome of a perfect Trusted House and pet sitter. If I could give them a 20 * rating, it would not be enough. It truly was like I had never left. My cat was very contented, and my house in perfect order ( if not in better). I had to return from New Zealand, hurriedly when COVID hit, and the borders were imminently closing. Ken & Jane said they would stay until my return, knowing full well that the Canadian borders would be closing too. This mean they would have to be driving almost straight through, from Sacramento, Ca. to their home. They even made sure I had necessities on hand, due to the fact I would be quarantined, and people here were hoarding these things. When I opened the refrigerator, Jane had left me some wonderful food she had made, for my first days back! They are absolutely THE best, and would be the first ones I contact when travel for me opens up again.
We had a lovely time at Kathy's and family taking care of, Diesel, Herbie, Buttercup and the gerbils. Herbie and Diesel are very affectionate dogs and like being around you in the house. Typical of their ages, Herbie likes being played with on a constant basis and Diesel just being around and resting. They were both well behaved with our 8 year old son and enjoyed each other's company. In my sons words, they are fun and cuddly. We walked them separately as recommended and that worked well. Diesel takes you through his walk around the village if you let him lead. And with Herbie we went to a field up a hill near the village. I would say you need a bit of strength to keep them close to you as they need to be on the leash, but it is doable. The other three animals were very easy to look after. Kathy's home is comfortable, the family were very welcoming and hospitable. And the house is in a perfect location for the Peak District. A mile or two from Castleton, near Ladybower Reservoir,... We had very nice mornings walking and staying in with the dogs and beautiful afternoons out and about. Communication with Kathy was smooth and timely from the beginning. That you Kathy and Mark for trusting us with your furry family and your home, much appreciated. It was lovely to be back in that area and create new memories of that gorgeous region. This was my first sit through THS — and it was wonderful. Julia and Alex were very communicative, helpful, and thoughtful in getting me set up at their home for the week. Their sweet pup Luna was the best roommate, coworker, playmate! She’s a love bug, who is equally down to cuddle on the couch, as she is for hikes and city wandering. They have a beautiful space with incredible views, that you have to work for given the number of stairs - but great walk in every direction. Thanks to you all, hope to hang with Luna again soon :)
I had a wonderful time in Frankfurt taking care of Moes. The first day Moes was a little bit stressed due to Jo and Sonja leaving, but she quickly turned into her wonderful self. Every morning I was greeted with happiness, and although Moes is not a lap cat or a cat that loves to be cuddled all the time, she often stayed near me when I was in the house. We also created our little routines together. I met with Jo and Sonja before they left, and they showed me their house and told me all there was to know. Communication went smooth before and during the sit. It was nice to receive some cat pictures from them in return for my daily pictures of Moesepoes. Their house is very comfortable, and I was able to use one of their desks to work at. From their house it is only a few stops with the subway to the city center, but also nearby there is wonderful shopping street with nice little restaurants. I used my time to make several walks in the local area. Yep, I really enjoyed my time housesitting for Moes, Jo and Sonja. Looking forward to coming back in the future!
It was a pleasure to look after lovely Jinny (who we nicknamed Jin Jins!) - lots of cuddles, head scratches and fun playing with her toys. She is very affectionate and, whilst shy at first, quickly warmed up. Julie and Colin were great hosts with regular communication and support. Their flat is beautiful and a great place to stay in Amsterdam. Would highly recommend! Thank you for having us, we’d love to come back :-)
What a great sit!! Maggie is such a sweet companion, super easy about what she wants and communicative about her needs. Her eyes will capture you. She is a beauty and loves to get brushed. I enjoyed her being an inside/outside cat and her taking advantage of both – the spacious family home as well as the greenery in the front yard while she was watching the activities around the birdfeeder. She´s a lovable little adventurer who likes her „Tuna Squeeze“ as a treat. Kate and Jordan have a marvelous and comfortable home, are exceptionally nice and communicative. I felt very comfortable, well informed and welcomed in their home. Also, I got so many great tips for exploring the surrounding areas. Loved it. Thank you again. So, bring your hiking shoes and look forward to explore the North Shore. This sit is amazing to get a taste of living at the North Shore, which I find has a different feel compared to living in Vancouver. At Kate´s and Jordan´s place you almost feel like you can touch the Mountains. Majestic Views and trails right behind their place are waiting for you to enjoy and explore. Highly recommend to sit for cute Maggie and her lovely Family.
