We had the pleasure of house and pet sitting for Tammy and Chris in a lovely area we had not previously visited. The home was comfortable set in a rural area which is what we prefer. We were sitting primarily for Zeus (giant schnauzer dog) and Skye (English Blue cat). Skye, like many cats was independent and would acknowledge us if necessary, otherwise she preferred to continue to inspect the inside of her eyelids! Zeus was just the opposite, a very affectionate dog with a loving nature who always looked forward to his walks, often accompanied by the neighbour’s retriever Scapa. He also liked a lot of attention when at home and would be quite content with his head on our laps on the sofa. The paw would come up quite often to let us know we had stopped smoothing him. The only trouble, or should I say disappointment, in the end was when I suggested to him that maybe he would like to join us on our return back to New Zealand. He did think about it but said he has his owners trained and maybe he wouldn’t be able to train us! Thank you Tammy and Chris for the wonderful opportunity to sit for you,Zeus and Skye.
Sarah was an excellent host. I loved looking after Rambo and the house is lovely.
Very good sitting!! The house is exactly as it shows in the photos, it is well located (near the beach) and we had a great time. And Bruce is a lovely, cute and well-behaved dog, such a sweetie. We miss him already!! Looking forward for the next time!!
We had a lovely weekend sit! The Pets: Pippi: She is the charmingly cantankerous and unquestioned feline ruler of her domain. She can usually be found lounging about on the couch or her lil basket. She's pretty vocal and will meow when she's hungry or wants to go outside and sniff the plants (very adorable). She needs nightly oral liquid medication for her arthritis, which she actually takes pretty easily. She enjoyed gentle pets and will rub her head against your calves. Pistachio: He's the boldest of the three younger cats. He could usually be found near the hot tub on the lower deck under the black covering, inside the closet of the office, or under the office couch (I mention the hiding places because he is an Olympic level hider, can take his own collar off for maximum stealth, and scampers very quickly!). On the first day he let us pet him while he was in his cat tree. Tavi: Second boldest, he also enjoys smelling the flowers with Pippi and hiding in the office closet or under the couch, though his preferred space was on top of the blankets in the laundry room. He let us give him chin scritches and sniffed us. Petunia: The shyest of the bunch. She liked hiding under the covers of the deck furniture, behind the pots of succulents, and under the couch in the office. I think she enjoyed being on the deck the most. By the third day she was comfortable enough with us to meow at as from a few feet away. The Humans: Laura and Alex are very sweet and considerate. They were understanding when we were running late due to some car trouble, and very communicative before, during, and after the sit. They gave us a thorough tour of the house and cats' routines in addition to printed instructions. They have impeccable taste in coffee, and generously let us have some of theirs, as well as open access to anything in their fridge. They even asked us before the sit if we wanted anything in particular, and thus made sure we had oat milk and got us fresh bagels from Noah's. Also, this is probably something that most people won't need, but I'm very short (4ft 9") and without me even needing to ask, Alex put a bunch of every-day-use dishes on a low shelf that I could easily reach. That was extra-thoughtful and much appreciated. They gave us some great recommendations for hiking and other pointers about the area. They were genuinely invested in us having a comfortable stay: mission accomplished! The House: WOW! Absolutely gorgeous, sparkling clean, conveniently laid out, and in a lovely neighborhood. First off, even before describing their amenities, their decorating sense is on point! Their shelves are adorned with geodes, corals, and cool stones. The furniture and lighting fixtures were sleek and modern. They have lots of succulents and other potted plants on their decks (it rained on Saturday, so there was no need for watering) which helps create a lovely ambiance while enjoying a cup of coffee and gazing out at the city. The view is truly incredible! They have a firepit, which we took advantage of for dinner out on their balcony. They also have a phenomenal hot tub (literally complete with a sunglass-donning rubber duckie) which Alex showed us how to use and gave us tips on for maximum comfort. They have a home gym and office, which made Friday evening Zoom calls very convenient. Their kitchen is exceedingly well-equipped and spacious. I've seen other sitters describe their house as "like a resort" and we 100% agree!
Such a lovely time with Siddy & Violet in Newmill, they were so easy and loving! The area was stunning, as was the property. Tamara and Andrew were extremely welcoming and helpful. Highly recommend ?
Pet sitting at this succulent oasis in the hills of Mill Valley for three 3 cats was such a great experience! The cats are sweet & cuddly. This home is beautiful with a backyard garden, including nice places to lounge in the sun. The location was convenient for hiking, biking , & exploring restaurants in the Mill Valley area. We felt like we were on vacation for the weekend!
