I am struggling with naming our top adjective to describe Michael and Jeanne. "Conscientious" will likely be it but then again, "personable," "reliable," "organised," and "animal-loving" are top contenders. If you are reading this review and contemplating inviting this couple to watch your pets, then look no further. We have had a number of excellent house sitters but this pair was next level in terms of the love they showed our cats, Maxx and Nala. When we came back, we could our animals already missed them. These cats, who have never slept with anyone other than us, were getting in bed with them each night -- and that meant climbing stairs! The day before our trip, Nala got an ear infection and had to be put on steroids for asthma. Michael and Jeanne did not sign up for that when the sit was booked but they took it in stride. In the last-minute rush, I relayed that Nala needed her oral steroids morning and night. Michael read the RX label, indicating one dose a day, and contacted the vet to clarify. So you can see why "conscientious" is right up there. They saved Nala from an overdose! We were gone three weeks and they sent us just the right amount of pictures and videos. They bought cat toys (I forgot to put ours out!) and actively engaged with them, including 20-minute massages for Maxx. I truly believed them when they said they fell in love with our fur babies. The house was spotless (which was not important to me but truly appreciated) but I smiled when all six water stations in our yard were filled. They took seriously my love for and the needs of the wildlife in our yard. Our plants were all in good condition as well. Sensing they were "next level" when I met them, I predicted they would want to leave a meal for us upon our return. I asked them not to but they found another way to bow out with class. They made a donation to a nonprofit I work with instead. This I learned from the lovely thank you note they left. I hope they will consider Charles and I friends because we certainly feel that way about them now. What special people. If you book them, treat them well because they are going to do that for you for sure.
Bentley loved Starlet! He met her the day before I left and he was so excited from the second he saw her. Starlet was so reliable and let me enjoy my trip stress free! The house was put back together when I got home and she even sent some videos indicating where I could find my packages, mail ect. I would love to have her back anytime!
I (Josef) had a wonderful experience with this sit. To start with Doug and Stasha were incredibly warm and generous people, interpersonally lovely, and clear communicators whenever an issue arose with the house or the dogs. Pet and house care directions were explicit, detailed, and navigable. They provided a wealth of information about the neighborhood and have a robust network of neighbors and emergency contacts. The location was delightful and, while a bit far from the city center of Portland, was in the middle of a wonderful neighborhood I had a great time exploring. The highlights for me was the proximity of the lovely Mt.Tabor park, and the phenomenal access to Korean, Chinese, and Vietnamese grocery stores and restaurants. The house was clean, very comfortable, and well set up. It would be perfect for families or anybody working remotely as the home office setup was very good. But of course I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the highlight of the sit: Wesley and Joules. These are very sweet, easy to get along with dogs and although Joules is a senior citizen and Wesley can get a bit excited sometimes the instructions I was given in the house guide were always more than enough to ensure a calm & healthy crew. They were my constant companions while working, writing, and taking neighborhood walks and I grew to feel real genuine affection for them (I think/hope it was mutual) Overall a wonderful sit.
Spending 5 weeks in a beautiful country with the amazing Milo is something I’ll treasure! -if you get the chance then definitely do it! Leigh and Chris were so welcoming and generous, and communication was so straightforward and easy from applying to all the way through the sit. The apartment was amazing, with all the amenities you could dream of. The pool and outdoor areas were amazing, seeing iguanas whilst swimming was wonderful. Being able to walk over the road and be on a beautiful beach was amazing, and a surfing beach at that! Milo and I loved going for a morning walk on the beach, and swimming in the waves, or otherwise running around the golf course jumping in every pond he could find. Milo loves his tennis ball, even more than his treats - If ever I needed to get his attention, I’d just show him his ball, which was especially handy when other dogs were around as he can get a bit over excited! He loves company, and wants to be involved in everything you’re doing, but he is happy to be left for a few hours as well, so I was able to see a lot of the island, and do plenty of snorkelling and surfing whilst Milo rested at home in between walks. Whilst there I did my scuba diving qualification with Living the Dream Divers, who allowed me to split the course up into half days so that I didn’t leave Milo for too long - I would definitely recommend them if it’s something you’re looking to do. Overall it was just a genuinely great sit, and I’d encourage anyone experienced with large dogs to apply! You won’t regret it. Milo will become your best friend overnight, be a faithful adventure companion, and put a smile on your face every day! I hope to come back one day, because I’ll definitely miss Miles! Thanks guys!😁
We had a wonderful stay in Ashley's apartment! Coco and Mr Blue are the best reading buddies, they are very friendly and lovely. Ashleys apartment is very comfortable and cozy. Also she was very clear with her instructions to take care of her house and her cats, everything worked perfectly 🙌🏽
Rachele and Paul were the *best*. They were kind, friendly, and welcoming, with a beautiful clean and stunning home. More importantly, their pets are *exceptional*. Really! Lila and Apple are perhaps two of my favourite dogs, they are both wonderful - kind, sweet, loving and so well behaved dogs. It was a pleasure looking after them, I was very sad to leave actually and will look back so fondly to being around them! The other pets were of course delightful too, but really it was Lila and Apple. A true testament to their owners! Thank you Rachele and Paul for such a wonderful stay and I am so glad I could help look after Lila and Apple.
