We had an absolutely wonderful time in Edithvale with Charlie and Jasmine. We really loved getting to know Ruth a bit, who is so kind and friendly, and we were so grateful to get to stay in her beautiful home while she was away. Edithvale is a really nice little town, and Ruth's house is located within a short walk to the beach and a quick drive to tons of restaurants and stores. It is also a very easy train ride to get into Melbourne CBD. Overall, I can't say enough great things about Ruth and her home. However, the real joy of the trip was getting to spend time with Charlie and Jasmine. They are two of the sweetest dogs we have ever met, and we were so sad to have to leave them. Jasmine has the sweetest temperament and was a former show dog, so she will only walk on the left of you when you take her out for a walk haha. Charlie loved to cuddle on the couch while we watched TV, and the day we left Edithvale, my wife and I felt quite the void in our lives as we turned on Netflix. It has now been a week since we saw the pups and we still miss them a lot. I would absolutely recommend this housesitting experience if you get the opportunity :). Hopefully, we will get to return to see Ruth, Jasmine, and Charlie again sometime in the near future.
This house sit was great for many reasons. We house sat for one month in this cozy home. The tasks were very reasonable. The solar power and rain water collection never gave any issues and worked very well. The ocean is a 15 minute beautiful walk away and the roads to the property were acceptable for our rental car. The property worked well for our family to work remotely and do some day trips to the surrounding area. Mahves was able to respond promptly with any answers and gave us clear instructions for the animals. And we will miss the farm fresh eggs and snuggles from Pablo the cat.
Thank you Sue and family for a wonderful week retreat in your beautiful home. Winston and Doris have been such good company. Louise pig and the goats have been so much fun to care for too. So grateful to spend the New Year relaxing with fluffy friends. Debbie
Simone and Bram are great hosts and very kind. Communication with them was easy. They have a charming converted barn in a very nice rural location in Noord Brabant near Germany. We had a great time with Shepparton and Lolita. They’re very sweet and easy going. The cat Pluisje is even sweeter. It was difficult for us to say goodbye to the pets, but well that is also part of the housesitting experience. This housesit is highly recommended and we hope to see them all again!
Maria lives in a wonderful treed neighborhood where Cheri and I enjoyed walking around chatting with neighbors and spotting the blue heron that lives near the waterfall. The large clubhouse offered shuffleboard, a library and pool. We amused ourselves perusing through the books and DVDs, and putting our feet in the hot tub. We happened to be there for the annual community garage sale so we also had the chance to search for treasures. Each of her three dogs has a very different personality. Boo is very high energy so we had to make sure one of us held him so that Charlie could get his cuddles. Rolly is too cool to let Boo bother him, but will compete with him for the squeaky ball. The two little dogs slept in the bed with us which was a great treat.
I loved sitting for Monkey and Moose! They are sweet, fun, lovable boys, very easy to take care of, good companions to each other, and were good, comfortable company for me. The doggy door to the backyard and how nicely they walk together made things so easy, along with their easy-going dispositions and how quickly they warned up to me. Cordelia and Anthony were relaxed, welcoming hosts, clear communicators and were quickly responsive to the few questions I had. Their comfortable home is so nice and light, and being able to park in their driveway was another convenience that made this a great sit! I would not hesitate to sit for them again!
