Julia and Paddy had a very warm welcome for us. Their dog, Mr.Basil, also made us feel as if we were most welcome in the home. Even their goldfish had kind words for us! As housesitters, we knew we had picked a great gig. Mr.Basil was a complete gentleman. In fact, we still miss him now as we write this review. He was the most well-behaved dog, and he was so full of personality! Mr. Basil loves being brushed....and snuggled. Anyone would find him to be the perfect dog; quiet, loyal, affectionate, very smart, funny, and always happy to see you. He is perfect. Mr. Goldfish can hold his own as well. He was no bother at all. Their house is in a wonderful community, complete with a park directly across the street for walking Mr. Basil. There are numerous hiking/biking trails within a few blocks of the house. Our 3 week sit saw us staying quite active hiking in the surrounding mountains, and quite comfy in their home in the evening. For us, an extra benefit of housesitting has been the friendships we have formed with the homeowners as well as their pets. Julia and Paddy are people we know we will stay in contact with. It was such a lovely treat to have met them. We thank them both for introducing us to Mr.Basil and opening their home to us. We certainly hope to see them again some day. Anyone would be lucky to housesit for them and we hope it will be us again some time in the future.
I had a wonderful time staying in Valerie's home with Oscar. Her home is lovely and comfortable, with an awesome back porch (partially screened in) to sit and look out at the woods. The neighborhood is also lovely and quiet. It was fun to explore the trails and walk around the lake. Oscar was so sweet. He really runs the house and was very easy. We spent a lot of time sitting on the porch together. It took a few days for him to really warm up to me but we got into a good rhythm. He loves a bit of attention and a whole lot of treats. :) This was a lovely stay that I would highly recommend.
Chris and Jeff are wonderful hosts. And they live in a newer development near historic Aldie. One of my favorite places to meet friends for lunch is in Middleburg, Virginia which is only 20 minutes away. The location checks all the boxes. If you’d like wineries - there are tons of them, cidery’s - check. If you’re a history buff, there are plenty of sites to see surrounding the Civil War. This is Virginia, the beautiful Rolling hills and changing leaves are stunning. And adding to all that, you’re just a short ride away from Washington DC.. The house is clean. They have a minimalist style so you won’t need to look very hard for your keys. It’s well appointed and very comfortable. No need to bring your own pillows to this sit. The bedding and pillows are super comfortable. I was in contact quite frequently with Jeff. I sent them pictures and I even celebrated Chloe’s birthday with her. Chloe is a dream. She is so beautiful that when you first meet her, it almost looks like an artist has painted all the tiger/cheetah/leopard marks on her. She is stunning. She is super sweet. A total lap cat. She Loves, and I mean LOVES to cuddle. The only thing she might love more, and it’s a tossup, is playing with one of her string toys. Fair warning – if you bring your own food, some of it may be missing, there’s a very sneaky aspect to Chloe who looks like an angel but will misbehave and the cutest and most adorable ways. She is certainly not lacking in personality. A very positive venture. I loved my stay there and would happily return.
What a fun sit!! Ashley is so outgoing and easy to get along with. She had everything printed out for me so I was ready to roll as soon as I got there! Her home is so cozy with a wonderful backyard. Truly a great place to relax while Johnny and Mickey were playing outside. Johnny is super chill and loves to be cuddled with!! Mickey, on the other hand, would have played all night until I was super tired. They were so cute too!! Each morning they would both come in the room and wake me up by crawling under the covers or just randomly making lots over noise! Everything was perfect. I would recommend sitting for Ashley anytime!! If she needed help I would definitely sit again. Thank you so much, Ashley for a wonderful few days. Don't forget me in the future! I had a wonderful time taking care of Bagpuss. Hazel is a warm and welcoming person. She took me for a walk through Birmingham to show me the area and also also explained everything about the apartment and Bagpuss over a delicious dinner she had prepared. From the first contact our communication was excellent. Bagpuss is a beauty and a very cute cat. She clearly loves her routine and is eager to tell you when she wants food, when she wants her treats and when she wants to be brushed (which she absolutely adores). She also brings her toys to invite you to play fetch with her. The apartment is beautiful and in a great location. Everything can be reached by walking, no need to take buses. The canals of Birmingham are a great area for walks. I recommend this sit to my fellow sitters and would also return for a sit.
Great location and wonderful pets! We had a great time staying here and loved having the use of the pool in this hot weather. Good communication for pet owner. We loved Madisen she was very involved when we were home. Pose enjoyed being around us but having his space when he wanted it!
